Could not be closer to the ocean. We came for a night mid week and got upgraded to a penthouse which was amazing. Didn't feel crowded even through they we're hosting a corporate event (or two?). We had lunch at the pool and dinner at the Splashes bar downstairs just feet above the beach. The whole property was clean, friendly, good food, and absolutely beautiful views.

I'm not usually a fan of the beach, but it was nice having a private area for the resort. It was less crowded. The service, rooms, and location were great.

Parking was limited. Street parking available. Huge wine list. Great food. Friendly staff. Awesome atmosphere. There are table options available that overlook the ocean. Reservations are a must.

We love going out. Yesterday we came to this superb place which friends recommended to us. We passed a beautiful experience there with fine meal and an experienced team and an impressive chef. We added this restaurant in our phone list and we shall surely come back very soon. Highly recommended.

The two great things this place has going for it are the view of the ocean and the private beach. Depending on what kind of room you get you can be right on the water and wake up to the sound of the beautiful waves. Otherwise, the food except the nachos and the chicken strips was nothing to write home about. The pool was open but it gets too crowded. It would have been nice for 400 and 500 dollars a night to have some in room entertainment like Netflix or HBO. To finish, You will enjoy this place if you go in with the right expectation.

Beautiful resort, directly on the Sand! The food is good, but the PASTRIES/DESSERTS are Outstanding!!! I'll be back just for their Sweets!!!

Went to the gift shop but did not stay at the resort. It was a clean and nicely decorated gift shop.

The location is right on the water everyone is very nice and the spa is wonderful

Absolutely a beautiful and peaceful stay. The hotel was super clean and the housekeeping kept our room immaculate. The view from the balcony on the 7th floor was so incredible and listening to the ocean all night allowed for the best relaxing sleep I've ever had. The deep tissue massage was worth every penny and hands down, higher than a five star rating. The women's spa was incredible with a private women's only outdoor hot tub and a steam room filled with eucalyptus aroma. This place is truly a gem here in Lugana. Stuch a wonderful experience!!!!!

This was visibly a beautiful resort, but our room was very dusty and unclean, due to a late check in we waited to address it in the morning. Lauren gave us a $100 credit for our $849 per night rate and promised a "deep cleaning" of the room after seeing my pictures. Came back STILL dirty and Rosario offered us a dining credit plus a clean room. We checked out, because things should have been PERFECT for that rate and then the second time was just insulting. Take your money elsewhere

If you're going to stay at surf n sand, make sure to splurge on an ocean view room... BEST hotel room view of my life!

Great place for unch and drinks. The bartenders make awesome drinks! Small and cozy bar w an amazing view of the ocean. The bar is on a first come first serve. We sat right by the window. We had a blast!

We came across this restaurant when I was looking for a place with view for lunch. Both the view and food are excellent!

Room was nice and clean!! We had view of the ocean and pool area. The walls are very thin though, and we heard the people upstairs walking.....running.....opening their slider door to the balcony. Other than that, it was fab.

The Chamber was not ready on time, so we had to wait. For those who enjoy the air conditioning keep in mind that there is not. The resort location is great, the balcony overlooking the beach. The kitchen in the resort restaurant was very good. The city of Laguna Beach is a NO SMOKING city, so for those who smoke or svapa it is a mess ....

Upscale spot right on the water. Rooms are recently remodeled and pretty well done with a bunch of modern touches. Restaurants are really great, offering high quality atmosphere and ingredients. The pool is awesome and being able to walk easily between the surf and the pool made the location even more enjoyable.

They even put ear plugs in the room in case the waves crashing outside your windows are too loud. Classic.

Love love the ocean view , i got proposed to here at the resort and it was perfect . Employees are constantly checking up on you making sure everything is good .

The waves are nearly crashing through your balcony, it is that awesome. We came here, obviously not the rich-people crowd like a lot of the guests, and were treated as royalty, including a late late late 3pm checkout. Thank you.

Initial impression was very positive. Very friendly and professional service. However, the restaurant was okay but they served a 2017 wine when the menu said 2016 vintage. Didn t realize this until we had a glass and a half, and they only discounted $25 off the $100 bottle. Never would have bought it had I expected 2017 vintage. The discount is not nothing but it as the most expensive item on my ticket, it kind of ruined the experience. I ve had $25-$30 bottles of wine better than this.

Rooms are nice; you re paying for location. I get that. But the pillows as super hard and huge. I asked for their softest and fluffiest pillow and they sent up two pillows exactly the same as before. Hard and bulky. After calling again, I waited for 40+ minutes. Never heard from them, so at midnight at this point I asked them to cancel the request and got a towel out of my car to use to sleep on. Went to the front desk and the guy wasn t very helpful and said they probably won t find me a pillow. Given the price to sleep here, this is unacceptable.

A beautiful and perfect hotel from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave!! The room was beautiful with beach views and the sunrise at the balcony was speechless!!

Went for pedicures with my mom and aunt, it would have been nice if we could have all gone together instead of one at a time, but we had use of the spa facilities and it was a really nice way to spend the afternoon. The pedicure was fantastic, Jenny was lovely. I'd love to go back for more services in the future.

Location: very nice. It s on the beach.
As long as the rooms are nice and clean you can t go wrong.
Though the beach shower is a joke. The top shower shoots out in all directions.
The bottom handle is broken, so you can t rinse the sand before heading back to your room.
When I asked about the lower handle was told they were waiting for the part.
Why would you have just one shower for your guests.

Just seems for a hotel of this level and price point, you would expect a little bit more.

The team at the Surf and Sand go out of their way to make every moment here special. I say team because they are a well-oiled machine!
The accommodations are well-maintained and contain all the amenities one could hope for. The food is exceptional, only exceeded by the very warm wait staff.
The Beach attendants are very attentive and the location could not be better. Great walking!

Had our wedding reception there in 1982. Wonderful staff. Try to go back at least once a year.

The spa, restaurant, and service staff are fantastic. The front desk staff seem to be overwhelmed with several guests arriving prior (3:00 pm) to the FIRM 4 pm check in time. Views are amazing, the balcony over the water is relaxing and private from neighboring rooms. The hotel beach area can be very minimal if the tide is high, they do provide chairs, towels and service on the beach. The rooms have great views over the ocean, beds are super comfy with nice linen and down comforters but they are aging on the inside could be cleaner in general. I would go back (with lowered expectations) solely due to my spa experience.

My favorite spot in all of Laguna or CDM! Beauitful ocean view. Quiet and relaxing. Splashes is the best place for brunch.

STAY CLEAR! I found a cockroach in my bed It looks clean in pictures but the beds are disgusting

The hotel have big renovations planned and they are very much needed. Air conditioning is 100% needed and we got very little sleep due to being hot, even with the door open. The shower was over the bathtub and the sides are so high with raised edges. I whacked my foot climbing out and most likely broke two of my toes (not exaggerating, so painful!)
The hotel itself just felt cramped. The elevators are small and slow, Splashes restaurant food was subpar and very crowded. The minibar fridge was really dirty and items we drank weren t replaced. One of the bottles of water was already open.
The pool was super crowded and with kids constantly running round and jumping in the pool, not exactly a relaxing spot. Spa was small and quite dirty but thankfully, massage was excellent.
We won t be staying here again. Place deserves 2 stars but staff earned the 3rd as they were friendly.

Beautiful Resort. Restaurant has amazing view of the water. We saw a whale in migration from where we sat. Conference rooms were nice and clean with great amenities.

Valets are superb. This hotel is right on the surf and has a view of colorful sunsets as well as a feeling of seclusion and privacy. Would stay again for sure

It was 72 degrees. Views of Palm trees. Smells of sweet cocktails and lemon leaves. Having conversations with the ocean's breeze. Walking into Splashes Restaurant with sandy feet. More cocktails, something with the essence of honeysuckle squeeze. All my girlfriends sporting salty hair grease, but no one seems to care. I'll take this view any day. Another and another and another round served by a gracious staff, in a perfect portion of heaven, pretty please.

The drinks were great, the bartender was super friendly and taught me what goes into a good pins colada.

Excellent service. Can't beat the location. The venue has been updated but only so much one can do without demolishing it. The rooms are nice. The views are amazing. The food is pricey. Some things are great like the octopus. Others good but not great like the lobster bisque. Overall love the place. Try to get a table at sunset. It's stunning.

This place is beyond amazing I was here for a family wedding it was beautiful. Not to mention the view of the beach and having the ceremony right in front of the beautiful waves. It was a great experience and such beautiful venues to see.

Ate at the lower lever bar with a view to die for with the ocean and sand below you could almost reach. Great food, drinks and service. This is the place to be!

Pluses.. Waiter Pepe was very friendly and not pushy... Matre Di checked on us.. food nice presentation... Tasty... Minuses.. Cold, drafty, elevator old and very slow, ridiculous lighting, quoted different price for parking, unfortunately won't be back....
