Best thing they did was to mess me around.

Please avoid Jammy Lodger and Oak States. The house was dirty when I arrived. At the end of stay, they did not repay me all the deposit, (I left the flat as they gave to me) so I have to argue a lot. Finally they paid me 20 pounds more but even so they did not pay all that they should.

Just avoid.

Like previous reviews, there are some great accommodation in sheffield, Norfolk park student village is not one of them.

I have stayed in many student accommodations in Sheffield, these were by far the most unprofessional. Company aside, the flat itself is rather grim, very old. Not one of our rooms were in anyway nice.

We were actually shown a previous flat on show, I was told this was because the other flat did not want to be shown. We later assumed this was actually down to that flat being rather revolting, including a dead fish that was left in the microwave and a fire alarm that was worriedly out of date.

You are far better off choosing another accommodation in a much better area. Good luck it is not hard.

We (3 Erasmus-Students from Germany) stayed at Norfolk Park Student Village from 9/13 until 12/13 and it was unpleasent and stressfull due to the fact that the agency often seems overchallenged. The House we stayed in was in a devastating condition as we moved in (marks all over the place, mould in the bathroom, rubbish in the house) and even though the living area was cleaned after we complained about it, we still had to live with the mould for another month. It was not removed, just painted over and came back only few days after the "renovation". Also the agency makes lots of promises but these promises (such as the renovation of the hallway or even a simple mail regarding the moving out) often turned out to be nothing but hot air. The rent was quite expensive but affordable but the fact that the deposit was not fully returned makes me write this review. Without any walk-through or inspection, we moved in a trashy place and after 3 months of cleaning we left the place in a even nicer condition. There are better places in Sheffield to go to if you are looking for a place to stay at. This place isn't worth a call!

Very bad customer service, our boiler in the house constantly broke and was never replaced.

My experience of Jammy Lodger is a very personable and pleasant. Especially for me, I valued their flexibility at a time when most needed;

For example, during studies at Sheffield college for one year, Jammy lodger (whose residences are close by) was able to allocate a room within a day.
At the time, this was a massive help to me as the rent agreement I had arranged fell through on the day I arrived (not helpful!) - but Diana was very understanding and helped through this minor panic sorting out a rental agreement asap.

It's my belief that because of the small team Jammy lodger operates they are able to act quicker and be more personable. Obliviously I'm talking about the complete opposite of larger student rental companies where you are just a number. With Jammy lodger this was simply not the case.

The pricing at the time was most agreeable and was reflected in the standard of accommodation- exceeded in many areas such as the lounge. I had the pleasure to visit some other friends whom where studying nursing- their kitchen was newer, having been updated but cleanlinesses and functionality was well up to scratch.

My advice to anyone looking to stay with Jammy lodger is to ring them, speak to them in person and take advantage of their friendly Yorkshire nature. Having experienced other providers with weird computerized 'ticket' systems (robots basically) I simply found these people really understanding and upfront.

As many people have already stated on here, Jammy Lodger should be avoided:
1) Norfolk Park Student Village is old, unclean, cramped and unsafe (during my stay multiple robberies were reported due to no CCTV or street lights)
2) Upon arrival, the place was a s***-hole, simple as that and despite the reasonable price it is not worth what you are getting
3) The house itself does not have sufficient space for 6 people to live, plus household appliances such as microwave, mop, hoover... are either poor quality or not even present

Absolutely horrendous, try and scam you out of money for problems that never existed, rude landlord absolutely tragic service.

They are a really great company to rent from if you are a student - Every one in the office is helpful too - just moved out to go home for the summer - If i was coming back to Sheffiled i would rent from them again. Thankyou for making my stay is Sheffield memorable.

I have stayed with jammy lodger for 3 years now! I came to Sheffield in my first year and didn t know the area. Jammy Lodger helped me find the best place to live close to my uni building and I have made friends through sharing my first house! I now live with the same mates and would always recommend jammy lodger to any student looking!

Do not go with these or Oak Estates, Its been a nightmare since I moved in at the start of June, we moved into a disgusting house (we were shown a different house on the viewing) , my room was filthy, the carpets were dirty, there was mould all in the back of my wardrobe, the mattress had cigarette burns in it, my carpets and curtrains stink of smoke, the bathroom was in an appalling condition and the communal living area wasn't much better, me and my friend I moved in with went through living hell trying to get the place sorted, after a week they did replace the wardrobe and mattress , however we were told the carpets would not be replaced (even though they're absolutely vile). The office (not Jeanie she was great) were very unapologetic and tried to brush it off, and since then we've had various people come to the house with the estate agents for viewings with no warning (not at all the time but it has happened) and its now got to winter and I've discovered my radiator isn't working in my room which is causing damp and mould and I'm freezing the whole time I'm in there, I logged this on their maintenance system a week ago to be looked at and nothings been done. Absolutely gutted that i signed to live here until next may been an absolutely terrible experience through-out the whole thing and find it very sad how little care goes into making sure the tenants are happy.

Really enjoyed my stay with Jammy Lodger would recommend to any students moving to Sheffield Hallam for study! :)

I have not had a very positive experience with Jammy Lodger or their properties in Norfolk Park Student Village. Sub-standard properties that are old and in need of a thorough renovation.

Extremely small bedrooms and ridiculous metal high foot end bed which caused bruises on a daily basis because of the smallness of the room. The bathroom was unsightly with worn and extremely marked flooring, the shower was a effort everyday because it would never stay warm. The wi-fi only worked in the bedrooms not the kitchen/living area. It was generally clear that the houses had not been renovated in years i.e. flaking radiators, patchy skirting boards and doors.

Despite the company's disregard to updating the properties in Norfolk Park Student Village, they have the brass-neck to charge ridiculous amounts from the damage deposit. Not one of us in our house got our full deposit back because they had some petty reasoning for charging for "damages". Would not be as much of an issue if they actually used money to maintain other aspects of the property but they clearly do not!

Literally the worst letting agency in the world, with some of the worst landlords ever. The particular house I stayed on Crookesmoor Road, had a landlord that would never fix anything (we had all sorts of bugs in the house!). The house is in poor condition and it was the most miserable year of my life. It wasn't cheap either (quite expensive actually).

Steer well clear of Jammy (or should I say, Scammy) Lodger.

There is plenty of accommodation within Sheffield for professionals and students.

Lived in a property run by then for one year,

this company offers not only sub-par properties, they also take a very long time to even acknowledge that you have put in a maintenance request. Then actually getting the maintenance work done takes a very long time also. After ending my contract they have made up a lost of "charges" for when i have left the property for example room smelling of smoke so carpets need cleaning, I do not smoke and neither do the people around me. They have also added charges for the house having general rubbish in the house when I left (the property still had another person living in it). I was also moved into a different property halfway through my tenancy as the people they had put me in the house with had left, so i had to move everything to suit them.

I am a landlord with 2 properties at Norfolk park in sheffield who works away from home and can't manage the properties myself. I choosed jammy lodger 10 years ago to let and manage them and are still with them to this day. I can't fault the performance of the company as nothing is a problem to them and will go out of the way to help both myself and the tenants. All maintainance issues are solved efficiently and cost effective with there on board maintainance team leaving both myself and the tenants happy. Couldn't of chosen a better agent.

The staff were really polite & professional! Made everything so easy and straightforward :) couldn t recommend enough!
