This is what a LBS is all about. Friendly, deeply knowledgable staff. Products geared to the local market. Excellent service. The ability to track down hard-to-find and obscure items. And on those rare occasions when the place isn't packed, a willingness to talk bike. Highly recommended.
I was in Honolulu for a week of vacation and I wanted to get a ride in while I was there. After months of planning and weeks of phone calls and e-mails with ITB we finally agreed on a private ride (Makapu'u Tour) and bike rental to begin at the shop at 730am. You can imagine my disappointment when the guide (Josiah) who was assigned to my ride failed to show up. I attempted to contact the guide and shop several times but no one answered. I did receive a call later that day at 10am (when the shop opened) from an apologetic Josiah. He claims he never received my e-mail confirming the ride start time, which I'm not sure I believe. Even if he did not receive my e-mail as stated, his prior e-mail to mine indicated that the start time and date would not be a problem.
ITB asked if there was another time they could take me on the ride, but at that point there was no time in my schedule. I spent weeks planning activities and I wrongly assumed that ITB would not stand me up. I requested and received a full refund, but the damage had been done. I would be returning home without having a chance to ride in Hawaii.
Be very careful if you book a ride or rental with ITB. They probably take very good care of locals, but I did not get the impression nor was it my experience that visitors were welcome. Carl, the shop manager with whom I spoke to prior to the ride never reached out to me to explain why his rider never showed up or how he would prevent this from happening to anyone else.
Absolute pleasure to deal with Keith...he did a magnificent tune up for 2 of my bikes that needed some TLC. Prices were amazing and I even found a great bike stand for a great price. I m on the other side of the island but won t hesitate to come back here for my bike mechanic needs!
Staff is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. I built my bike with them and I'm sure I got the best service and price possible and I am proud of this locally owned shop. Thank you guys!
The guy let me in early and didn't mind I was sweaty from running there. He helped me quickly and was friendly. He even grabbed me a paper towel to dry off with. Darn that sweat in my eyes. Bonus, the 16 inch tubes for my BOB stroller were only $6 each! I'd definitely come here again, if we weren't moving.
Very friendly and welcoming shop. Had multiple staff members greet me and engage in helpful conversation as I am new to triathlons. Ed was super helpful in showing me what I needed to get started. It was really one of the best retail experiences I've ever had and will be back! Aloha
I can t see myself going back to Hawaii without stopping at Oahu to do a ride with Carl at IT&B. I ve been to Oahu once before and loved it. This time, after two 50+ mile rides on two consecutive days with Carl, the island became the eye-opening paradise that one can only dream of experiencing. His knowledge of the topography and history of the island made us pay attention and appreciate the land. His riders intuition and familiarity with the roads allowed him to adjust our route to the ability of the different riders that joined us on day 2. He even called out rough or slippery sections approaching, while taking a turn on the back!
Prior to coming to the shop, we gave him our bike measurements and sure enough, the bikes fit perfect, right away.
The rest of the staff were also cheerful and excited to hear about our journey upon arrival back at the shop.
I have nothing but good things to say about IT&B and Carl. If you find yourself in, or planning a ride to Honolulu, you re going to want to check them out. Can t wait to come back.

This shop was a blessing for our first 36 hours in O'ahu. We were eager to explore the island in a way that not many were used to and struggled finding quality information to guide us to the right activities. After speaking to countless travelers and a few locals we felt helpless until we arrived at Island Triathlon Bike.
We got what you would expect - bike fittings, helmets, gear and great service. Sonya took it so much further than that and we couldn't be more grateful. Advice and tourist tips you would hope for finally came from her and we started mapping out how we wanted to explore the island.
Long story short, the bikes were great, we rode 40 miles on them without a single issue. A route she helped us plan. The route was great, the shop was great and the service went beyond the call of duty. If adventure is your game - visit this shop on your trip to Oahu and talk to Sonya.
I have dropped in on a moments notice at this bike shop for critical service and without fail someone has stopped what they are doing and attended to my needs with plenty of Aloha, As well as great service, they offer everything you would expect out of a professional bicycle shop, Mahalo IT&B.
From my standpoint Island Triathlon & Bike is "The" triathlon store of Oahu, next to Boca Hawaii, which sits on the other side of Honolulu. IT&B is what Runners Route is to the running community on island. They are heavily involved in many of the triathlon events on Oahu, so if you have an interest in any of the events outside of store sales do not hesitate to ask its employees.
IT&B has received many purchases from me once I got that urge to become a cyclists and later registering & competing in my first triathlon on Oahu. Later in the year once I got settled in as a cyclist a staff member from IT&B also taught me how to utilize clip pedals that now sit on my Giant TCR Composite 1 - road bike. However, at the time of the purchase I had a Specialized Allez - road bike.
There have been many of times while cycling in Waikiki, I would get asked by tourists where did I get my cycling jersey from? I would always refer them to IT&B, which is where you can find many uniquely designed cycling jerseys and gear. With that being said, I hope this review assists you in any way.

Great local bike shop. I rented a Bianchi road bike for a day. It worked great (my ride was 140km), had very good tires, and the staff was very helpful in advising some routes.
I was visiting from Canada and my cousin had some bike issues from our Airbnb host. While they were making the adjustment to fix her bike - I decide to be a dumba*s and pump my own bike tire and ending up popping it! The staff help me replace a brand new tube and help my patch the tire so I wouldn't have to replace a the whole thing. At the end of it - THEY did not charge us! That is exceptional service! Willing to help even without a sale. I will recommend anyone to come to this family establishment. Quality help and Service!
Keith is the best! He can get your bike fixed in no time. Super honest about the work and always delivers! I was able to get my old college Kona brought back to life recently and got a great deal on a rental BMC bike that I love! This shop is close to home so it's nice to be able to head to my neighborhood bike shop for a tune up and repairs. I miss the larger shop where we could try out bikes but I totally get it in this market that retail space isnt cheap! I'm all in for keeping ITBs presence in Kapahulu. Hope you are too!

I took my bike in to have the cranks torqued. I was told I was missing a part (bearing) and that I would need to order it before moving forward. I asked the mechanic if we should look to make sure the other part wasn't already in the bottom bracket as I had one in hand. He told me "there was no possible way" it was already in the bike. So I went home and ordered the 45 dollar part to complete the installation process. After purchasing the part (and waiting a week) and bringing the bike in to the shop I was charged the full service amount of installing a bottom bracket because the mechanic "had to take out the part" that he told me "there was no possible way" was in there. Low and behold I had the parts I needed the whole time. Not only did I purchase parts for $45 that I didnt need, but was charged a service fee of $35 because they were in there and had to be taken out (which was "really hard"). If the mechanic had just shown me the time of day and checked to see if these parts were present in the bottom bracket I wouldnt have been out $45 and would have been more accepting of the $35 charge.
Here is where I am upset. I was told "no way, youre wrong", at the cash register. I asked the mechanic to see my point of view and he wasn't interested. If he would have looked, then no part would have had to be purchased, if he would have looked, then we would have found it existed, and even if I did need the part I shouldnt have been charged $35 to remove a piece that the mechanic said wouldnt be there. In this case, the customer was wrong, and I believe that is wrong. In a case where $80 should have been $35, I believe anyone would be upset, especially when ridiculed for making a point of what went wrong in the process.
Took my bike to get a tire fixed and get some love. These guys were quick and great! Lots of cool stuff around for all level of bike riders. Definitely would come here again for anything I need instead of going to Walmart.
I came in to find a rack for my bike after going to a couple other bike shops that told me they don't carry back/front racks that fit my bike. The staff at ITB were so helpful, kind, and professional. They took the time to adjust and install the bike rack for me. Their prices are also slightly lower than the two other bike shops I visited in Honolulu. Sam was especially really funny and helpful. I recommend this place, and I will be sure to come here for future triathalon/cycling needs.
Friendly staff and great customer service, went in for shoe fitting and the guy even tidied up my shifter housing! Love the store and hopefully one of those bikes in there will be mine one day!

I love coming here. The staff is extremely knowledgeable, and they work with you to hone in on what it is you need. I also love the clinics and nutrition nights that they throw together! Very community driven.
They tend to get busy, and the staff get tied up answering questions and conversing with customers, but the eye candy in that place is plentiful enough for the occasional wait.
Great service paired with know-how and friendly staff. Staff spent over an hour and a half answering questions for me, fitting my new shoes, hand tuning up my bike. Good advice without being pushy or arrogant. Stop by anytime to air up and ask about local reign

I messed up and waited too long to order my sons bike for his birthday. But ITB came through. In less than 2 weeks, they got me a great deal on a special mountain bike from the mainland. My son loves it! So they have lot's more than just road and tri bikes. I wouldn't go anywhere else on Oahu for any sort of bike.
Awesome shop. Great guys. Was last minute Honolulu Sprint Tri with no bikes available. My fault! IT&B encouraged and reassured my Biki Aqua Blue backup plan would work.

Rented a road bike so I could train while on vacation. Staff was great. Renting a second time and going to do an early morning group ride. Absolutely recommend these guys for rentals.
What can I say about this place it so friendly and everyone is willing to help. Bike rentals are great at this bike shop like they rent high quality bike that you would be satisfied with using and after the day was gone I was thinking about owning one which was a BMC ALR road bike. Definitely recommend anyone looking to rent a bike!

All of the bike places I've been to here in Oahu are pretty good, but these guys are Island Tri are awesome. They won't sell you something you don't need and they are super friendly. Because of this they do get busy at times, so if you need service on your bike (Tune up), make an appointment. (=
The staff here are very friendly and helpful. They take the time to explain everything so that you feel comfortable. Parking is right across the street in the public parking lot and they reimburse you.
