We had a great time at the Christie Lodge over the 4th of July week. The rooms were quaint but big enough for 2 adults without being crowded. Everthing in the room seemed new and upkept. The laundry room, exercise room, pool and hot tub were clean and well maintained. Avon is a beautiful town, bring your bike and enjoy the paved bike trails within Avon plus the lodge provides a storage room for your bikes. My wife and I would consider coming back agian.

Although they are currently under renovations, the rooms are still okay. The newer rooms have nice showers and fair kitchens. In the newer rooms though, it's unlikely that there's enough room for more than 4 people beddingwise. There are More

These newly remodeled rooms are easy on the eyes with updated style in natural colors. Clearly the lights were designed by a lighting architect. There is almost no florescent lights in the entire building which is a pleasant surprise compared to most hotels today. The three bedroom condo is especially roomy with a separate at least 3/4 bath for each bedroom. One tub present for the kids. The kitchen has a stovetop plus a countertop roaster is all that is really needed to cook a full meal. Community barbque grills and picnic tables available out by the pool too. The outdoor pool is warm and the hot tub is large and accommodating. Avon water tastes great like Colorado water should. The staff is friendly and helpful. Everything is within walking distance and the town has free shuttle buses.

The rooms are in sore need of an update... While the building itself and amenities are nice, the room had not been updated since the 70s or 80s and smelled of harsh chemical cleaners and stale cigarettes. The shower blasted out a single hard stream of water like a garden hose and the spray was not adjustable. The sheets were stiff and plastic-like. The kitchenette is the trade off for them not offering any sort of continental breakfast, nor even free coffee in the lobby. A bit pricey for what you get. Would not stay here again.

Don't get sequestered to complex #4. Labeled pet-friendly, it cuts you off from the access to the amenities, especially when it's only you and your furbaby. The amenities are located throughout complexes #1-#3 and #4 is a separate building with no amenities whatsoever. Units are nice enough, which makes it ok if you're passing by and need an overnight stay, but don't plan a longer vacation here, during which you might like to use a pool or a hot tub occasionally. You have to be at your pet's side at all times, which means that to enjoy anything else, you need to take a pet sitter with you. And that's for the hefty $40 a day of pet fees and $100 returnable deposit. I'm glad I had to study most of the time here.

Most racist hotel I stayed in, front desk and security. Outside while making a bbq some guy with a funny hat trying to kick us out saying we were making to much noise which we weren t and the pools were people and kids jumping around screaming

Unless you are a share holder or special interest expect to be given the oldest rooms they have. After paying 30 days and paying 2200 cash upfront for an outdated room with a hard bed that makes my back hurt (Im a disabled veteran with back injuries from Afghanistan) asked if I could pay another 2200 cash and stay another 30 days in one of the nicer updated rooms. Response: "oh, those are for share holders and "other people" so you can't have one of those rooms" END QUOTE! Guessing those "other people" are the special interest with money. Should of wore my suit and tie down there instead of my shorts and t shirt. I was planning on staying for 4 months for a job here as i try to employ people......but after that I think I'm gonna pay the extra cash to stay at the comfort inn and hope for a comfy bed. I'm sure they will take my 10 grand over the next 4 months. Asked to speak to the owner....no can do they said.

The 5 star rating is based not on luxury but upon value for cost. First value is location down from Beaver Creek Ski Resort. And buses stop at the front door and take skiers and boarders up there without charge.
A full service ski shop is off the lobby--bike and summer servives that season. Subway and a Vietnamese restaurant are in the Lodge while a large variety of other restaurants are as close as across the street--as is Avon's largest liquor store. Pools, hot tubs, games and more, as website lists. Staff are very competent and friendly.
Rooms are mostly newly remodeled with the project going forward steadily. (Ask for a remodeled room if available when booking. )
Having been here at least 2 weeks every year but one starting in 1984, I can objectively attest to the unquestioned value.

Close to shops, but needs an update. As with a lot of mountain ski towns, the older condos/lodges do not have central air for the summer. Christie Lodge provide portable A.C. for the rooms, but they just don't work that well. The room interiors look to be from the 80's or early 90's and the mattresses are very cheap and uncomfortable. On the plus side, the kitchenettes are really nice to have, and the balconies are nice.

Great amenities, heated pools, multiple hot tubs, indoors and outdoors, restaurants in and nearby. . Close to quality entertainment venues and outdoor activities. The staff is fantastic. We come here at least a couple of times a year from Dallas.

I hope you NEVER have the MISFORTUNE of staying here.

The lack of customer service is beyond belief. Called the front desk to get the wifi working, "reset it". As if I hadn't already tried resetting the wifi....

We got stuck there and had to stay the night, we were lead to believe that the 3 bedroom was the only room that would provide enough room for the two of us... $500 later we are in a very big room that isn't very clean, has a broken sink, and no working wifi.

DON'T STAY HERE. The management WILL NOT rectify any problems you have. We were rushed out of our room at checkout, they just want your money. Awful experience.

We had a great time staying here for the week. It was close to walking distance to the stores restaurant and you can walk to the main Park and enjoy all the festivities that they have during summer.

They have refreshed the rooms since our last stay. Our room has wood flooring, fresh tile in the bathroom and new fixtures. The lobby area is a bit dated but large with plenty of seating.
I'm always surprised at how quiet the rooms are. I opened our balcony door for some fresh air and was overwhelmed by all of the truck and vehicle noise from the interstate. A few minutes later, closed the door and back to peace and quiet.

COME WITH LOW EXPECTATIONS.

COME WITH LOW EXPECTATIONS.

Three friends and I went up to Avon, CO (from NM) for the Tough Mudder event. We initially booked two rooms online since none of the three-bedroom units were available. I emailed the lodge and asked them to contact me if any large units opened up. I received an email within an hour that they'd accomodate us, which I really appreciated. However- after that it was all down hill.

I was told to call the reservations desk to book the room, and after trying a half-dozen times over three hours (even requesting a manager), I finally got a call back to book the room. The email confirmation was messed up and honestly we weren't even sure we'd have a place to stay when we showed up. Cancelling the initial reservation was equally bad and we figured we'd get charged for both and have to argue with them about the cancellation.

When we arrived, we were told we couldn't check in because their computers crashed. So we went into the sports shop and chatted with a guy who lovingly dubbed his place of employment "The Crusty". We laughed at his comment but we later found out why he gave it that name.

We entered our room to find it over 80 degrees with no AC running. We turned on the one portable unit in the fireplace and called to ask for another and this is what happened - the front desk asked, "do you have an a/c unit in the fireplace area?" - we said yes, and then they hung up on us! The back rooms never dropped below 80 even with the loud box fans running constantly and the sliding door opened in the morning to let the cool air in.

We also requested a relocation since our room was overwhelmed with the smell of the Subway restaurant that we were right above. We figured the room might be that hot because it's above the ovens. The smell of bread got old real quick, so we walked across the street to Walgreens to buy some air fresheners. Three of them didn't even affect the overall smell.

The kitchen was decent, although there weren't any coffee filters in the cabinet. The TV in the back room didn't work. When we checked the plug, the lights in the room began to flicker so we decided to stop touching it so we didn't inadvertantly start a fire or burn up the outlet. The shower heads were terrible, then internal doorway blocked the kitchen, the hot tubs were in a weird location that made you feel like you were "on-display" to everyone walking back and forth from their rooms. The pools were small, the overall layout of the lodge was ridiculous - a plethora of stairways (some that lead to nothing), elevated walkways that didn't have safety rails, walls of doors that were three-stories tall - we joked that David Bowie was going to pop out of a corner somewhere (if you've seen the movie Labyrinth).

There were only a few upsides- the indoor fireplace areas (little social areas) looked inviting, there was ping pong and fooseball, and there was a gas firepit by the outdoor pool. I appreciated having a balcony to get some fresh air too.

When we went to check out, we each wanted to pay our portion of the room but apparently my card was already charged before we checked out, so they had to figure out how to refund part of the room to my card and then charge the other people who shared the room.

If you come in with low expectations, you'll be fine. I assume the nicer lodges in the area are significantly more expensive.

Here in July and the C. Lodge is just disappointing at this time of year. A/C is one of those portable units that is supposed to stay in front of the fire place in the front room due to venting and it doesn't help at all in the bedroom area. Overall place feels dated but you can tell that this place would be a much better stay during ski season. Price and location were hard to beat, but falls short of what you'd expect at a 3.5 star hotel.

Rooms are spacious, very clean. Amenities are well thought out and the Hotel itself is decently appointed. Staff was very polite, and the balconies are well thought out, except I had somebody climbing across my balcony.

I m about 99% sure we were exposed to bed bugs during our stay at Christie Lodge last week. We were a bit suspicious when we were there due to holes in the pullout couch mattress and a couple possible blood spots on sheets and pillow cases. And then we all 4 broke out with the bumps at the end of the week after arriving back at home. When we contacted the lodge they claimed to not be familiar and denied the issue. Other reasons for the unsatisfactory include the fact that the place was small for 2 adults and 2 children as well as outdated.

Loved this place. It was like a little apartment. My kids had plenty of room to play plus it was clean and beautiful. Outside of the room was lots of little shops and restaurants within walking distance. Very beautiful scenery. Will definitely be visiting this place again.

This place is super legit. It s our seventh trip to Avon, but only the first time we have stayed at Christie Lodge. For comparison, other places we have stayed include Austria Haus (in Vail Village), the Pines Lodge, Falcon Point, and several VRBOs. Christie Lodge is not the newest/fanciest of these places but is STILL our favorite by a wide margin nonetheless. I ll tell you why...

1) the room has everything we need. Free wifi. Plenty of hot water (this has been an issue for us at other places). The kitchen has a one burner cooktop, a nice size fridge, a dishwasher, and all the basics you expect in a kitchen.

2) The suite has been very nicely remodeled. Bamboo floors, nice cabinets, a wood burning fireplace, beautiful tile work in the bathroom and shower, comfortable furniture.

3) incredible convenience (I don t think any other place in Avon has as much available on site or within walking distance. This might be the biggest benefit for me. There s a great (and inexpensive) pho restaurant in the building, with a full bar. There are hot tubs, and a heated pool. There s a ski gear shop in the building. It s walking distance to the liquor store, Vin 48, Blue Plate, the grocery store, Pazzo s pizza, loaded Joe s, and other miscellany. It s an extremely walkable place, you definitely don t need to rent a car. If you decide that you want to rent a car for a day trip to Glenwood Springs or something else, there s car rental available in the lobby.

4) The skier shuttle delivers us to the front door and to the base of the lifts. It runs every 15 to 30 minutes, depending on time of day.

5) It s an incredible value. You don t find places like this at these rates very often, so take advantage.

The people here have been very helpful, it s definitely a service-focused staff, and for the convenience and beautiful suites, we ll definitely return. This might be the best value in one of the nicest ski areas in North America.

The Christie Lodge has wonderful service, and many activities to entertain. The quality of the rooms are below average, but that explains the cheaper price. If you are looking for a fun hotel for a reasonable price I'd highly recommend the Christie Lodge.

I absolutely love this place. The atmosphere of the hotel is always welcoming, after a few stays they have always remembered me. The last time I came to this hotel I was upgraded rooms to one of the new re-modeled suites and was blown away. I am always looking forward to working in the mountains or looking forward to vacation time just so I can stay in this hotel again. Even the restaurants within the hotel are some of the best places I've eaten at, I especially loved the Pho restaurant not only did they offer individualized boba but it has been one of the best pho places I have eaten at in a very long time.

Now ive read other reviews and heard some complaints about "no smoking" their policy on using only their logs, and there "outdated" environment. The Lodge has been updating one room at a time for the past year, and with how many rooms they have and how much work their doing, it takes time. So I think these reviewers should have seen the construction zone. The no smoking rule inside is actually law. No hotel there can EVER have indoor smoking or smoking within range of certain buildings. This is the law. Them specifically requiring certain logs are low-smoke, treated wood which doesn't spark.
This is required by a lot of insurance companies including the one who insures where I live, and knowing that area, this is probably the case.

Overall:
5/5 Service
5/5 Price/Room ratio
5/5 Cleanliness
5/5 Food
5/5 Room Size
4/5 Location
4/5 Parking areas

I was so excited to visit Avon for the first time on vacation but honestly The Christie Lodge ruined the whole experience and I left with a lump in my throat. I was initially met with kindness by the front desk staff, but after coming back from dinner/the bar, the night staff ruined my stay. The overnight front desk woman complained we ruined her time watching a movie in the back room like she usually does. I was locked out of my room and dealt with a bothered employee who didn t want to give me a duplicate card. The employee harassed me about my drinking habits and recommended I seek help. I was lied to about the cost of an extra hour of check out time. I do not need to judged by rude, lazy front desk employees while I m enjoying a vacation.
Do you let your employees slack off and judge your customers? Will not be back.

Booked a pet-friendly room online a couple months ago. I then called and spoke with a front desk agent who CONFIRMED my request for the pet-friendly room. Called today to double check that we will receive a pet-friendly room and they did not have record of my request. Alex said there was nothing he could do. Will never be booking here again.

Under no circumstance can this place pretend their Hotel is a Condo! The "One Bedroom Condo" is equal in size to an Embassy Suites Hotel but a lot older. The pull out bed was from 1982. We had the heat off the entire duration of the stay but is was still so hot that we could not sleep. Cant understand why there is a full size dishwasher, there is no cook top, and no real way to make any type of meal. This place is trying to be something it is not - they should accept what they are and supply the room with paper plates and paper cups and a large garbage can. Fix the HVAC, put hand rails on the 30" cliff on the ground floor and get rid of all the stairs (what were the designers thinking). If you are on a very tight budget OK, but I think you might like the Roost in Vail more!

Another great week at the Christie Lodge. The new rooms are fantastic and as always the staff is outstanding. Not only does the Christie have all the ammenities that you would want it is also so convenient to everything in Avon that you never really need to get back in your car. When you do want to experience the surrounding area your options are almost unlimited. We love the trip to Leadville and the ride to Glenwood Springs and the hike to Hanging Lake are always fun.
