Great location, great golf course and wonderful people are all present at Scotch Hall Preserve. In the middle of 900 acres, there is no bad view!! We arrived for a getaway weekend and thanks to Laura and Lindsey, we were never disappointed! The INN is terrific! Finding the breakfast biscuits in the refrigerator was icing on the cake!!

We especially enjoyed sitting out at the firepit having a beverage and replaying our round of golf with our friends. Sunrise and a fresh cup of coffee (great kitchen) was a sight to see as well!

Our thanks to the staff at the Pro Shop for their hospitality and "first timer information"! The team serving in the Shed were also very accommodating.

We will be back but instead of staying for one night and 2 rounds, it will be 2 nights and 3 rounds!!! Thanks again to everyone at Scotch Hall Preserve.

This course is fantastic! It's not Pebble Beach or Pinehurst 4, but it's one great course. The staff was top notch. The course was American links with a lot of wind and high grass. The greens were pretty quick bent grass. The fairways were like carpet. The bunkers were very consistent. The views were special and the isolation you feel while playing is pretty rare. This place is worth every penny and every mile. Bring your "A" game, you'll need it.

The layout was pretty good and could be enjoyable. The conditions were poor (partially because of the bad winter which was out of their control). We brought a group of 12 guys and were told that it would be cart path only. The one gentlemen in the proshop said he would work to get us 90 degrees. The course was not wet at all. The only holes which were the least bit soggy were 1 and 9. The other holes were bone dry. We phoned into the clubhouse several times asking them to allow us to take the carts off of the path and they would not allow it. No one once come out to check to validate the conditions or to talk with us. Just a "nope" and hung up. They built this course expecting to sell hundreds of lots and it is clear they are struggling to sell any. Only a few houses built and not a single one under construction. You can tell they are tight for capital as the road all the way back to the club house has never had its top coat of blacktop leaving the manhole covers 2 inches above the road surface in a position to kill a car tire. Very little of the course is on the sound and the 18th green is a mile from the clubhouse in the middle of the course. Very poor design for a finishing hole. This course will be back to being a marsh land and closed in less than 5 years as there is no way they can continue to maintain all of the acreage. We won't be back. Sad because it has potential but the staff, conditions, and silly hole layout don't make it an enjoyable experience for a group on a golf trip.

This course was great! Was picked up at my car with a cart full of fresh towels and bottled water on ice. The course is beautiful, but tough. They have 5 sets of tees to make it fun for everyone though. Everything from the practice range, putting green and chipping area to the quality of the course maintenance is top notch. Will definitely drive the extra couple of miles to go play this gem on the water next time I'm coming through.

Small town with not much to do outside of golfing but the course is beautiful and the atmosphere is so great that you don't want to leave the resort. Boating jet skis fishing, lots to do. We stayed and played and had a great time. Great service and wildlife on the preserve was an added bonus.

Decent layout. Conditions were a little rough. Greens fine. Fairways had a rough winter/early spring like other courses in the area. Bunkers lacked sand and quite a few weeds in the rough. The course seems to be in financial trouble. Too bad because the potential is there.

Spectacular course in amazing condition! Really a top notch course. It's kind of in the middle of nowhere but absolutely worth the trip no matter where you're coming from. Google maps tried to send me through a gated farm road right near the course, if that happens just turn around and make your very first left and you'll find the main gate. The club house/ golf shop is modest but when you consider I played for only $55 for this level of course it's well worth it. Several spectacular big water views included. I'll be back for sure!

I played there on Sunday and thought it was the best coastal course in NC I had ever played. Quiet setting on a nature preserve and immaculate greens. The 17th hole directly on the Albemarle Sound was a classic although I couldn't keep my tee shot out of the bunker.

Great golf course! Just amazing for literally the middle of nowhere. I wish I could say the same about the real estate side. I find them disingenuous and generally unavailable unless you deal with them direct vs. an outside agent. It sets a horrible tone and when you combine that with SHP being listed for sale and losing money every year it's no wonder the development has struggled to survive.

Scotch Hall does not disappoint. We have gone two years in a row and already planning our third. Beautiful course with tee options for all levels. Staff is friendly and welcoming. If you are looking for a get away that is away from the hustle and bustle of life, Scotch Hall is a must!

A truly wonderful experience. The course, except for the bunkers, was in great shape. The bunkers have not been maintained properly. Pace was perfect, greens were in good shape although repairs to ball marks are needed. Staff were friendly.

Great golf course. The staff was on point from the greeting and cart in the parking lot, to the post round refreshments. I describe it as the most peaceful round I've ever played. This a jewel in an absolutely beautiful community.
