I was able to attend Illinois Media School at night while working a full time job which was a big plus for me. I had great instructors that were in the business, so the information they were giving us was relevant to what I wanted to do. The class sizes were small enough where you could form a relationship with the instructors which helped me a lot.

The projects we were working on also taught us how to do things but they were also fun. We went to Wrigley Field while the Cubs were in the Playoffs and shot some video of fan reaction and got to interview a couple of fans. We also went to the NorthHalsted Halloween Parade and shot video of the parade and all the costumes and talked with some of the people in the parade.

They also helped me find a job in a industry I was interested in. They set up an interview for me and the rest is history. I am still working there now and I am about to celebrate my 2 year anniversary at the company.

I would recommend Illinois Media School to anyone that is looking to do something new with their career and is looking to expand their knowledge in the field of media.

I cannot say enough good things about the assistance and support that was impressed upon me by the staff, particularly Lilli W. the Financial Aid Advisor and Karli R. the Senior Admissions Coordinator. They left me confident about my prospects for success.

Illinois Media School has a good concept but in my opinion, lack the direction & focus for students. I wholeheartedly agree with you get out of it what you put into it. I graduated in 2018 and it has changed my life, but my issues with Illinois Media School first came with repetitive learning. Because of the tiny class sizes, we would eventually join 2 other classes that started before and after us. We learned the same thing at least 3 different times because we had to catch everyone else up so that we could all move forward in the same lesson. Also this school could take into consideration on what classes you force people to take, I was strictly there for radio. But I spent weeks on creating a music video and other videography jobs that I felt was completely irrelevant to me. Perhaps it could be presented as an elective. But instead of learning videography that time could have been spent on voice training, a more in depth lesson on Adobe Audition, actually learning a board, learning some of the professional lingo in the industry, etc. One of the things I was excited about was that I didn't have to take those pesky GE classes that you have to take at a traditional college or university. But in reality this school isn't any different because a lot of us were still forced to take classes we did not want to take. Thanks for reading have a great day =)

Be careful. This school teaches you more about radio than television...
They have more radio equipment than television,
They also have more radio classes than television.
Plus some of their instructors don t show up or don t know what they re talking about.
This school sucks! Not worth it & Now I m stuck paying!

I'm a prospective student and a USAF veteran. I've been misguided for years and IMS brought me to the light... No more MGIB left for me, but I think Voc Rehab is just what I need to get back into the workforce. No more going to Electrician Apprentice training for me! I really like IMS curriculum as a trade school and I want to double major. I'm so excited just gotta tie up some loose ends before I relocate. Chicago campus is my destination as it has been close to home and evaded me since 2010. Better late than never! Thanks IMS!!!
