The Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT Kharagpur or IIT KGP) is a designing foundation built up by the legislature of India in 1951. It was the first of the IITs to be set up, and is perceived as an Institute of National Importance by the Government of India. As a major aspect of Nehru's fantasy for a free independent India, the foundation was built up to prepare researchers and designers after India achieved autonomy in 1947. It shares its authoritative structure and undergrad affirmation process with sister IITs. very superb and clean area inside the IIT Karaghpur campus, but roaming just outside of the campus gate is not safe.

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur is the oldest IIT in India. After India became independent the government of India converted Hijli detection camp to IIT in the 50s. The faculties are highly qualified with doctoral degrees in their respective fields. Besides academics, IIT promotes various extra curricular activities of its students. The campus is situated around 120 km away from Kolkata city.

It is one of the best institution of India. It has very big and green campus. There is also so many modern facilities. The place is quite.

Inner areas are too cool& shrine.The pavement &roads are soo clean & clear.Garden, football ground, cricket ground, hockey also there.good
Canteen at cheap rate,superb midland hotel all have there. Idly ,dosa,dalia u ll get.At every step u ll get traffic guard u can ask them any route & quaries.Everything is there.
