Had spa facial and massage followed by dinner. Food was good and a couple people for service but generally seemed lacking service experience and professionalism for what is trying to be a more upscale business.

We hosted a bridal shower at the Idlewyld Inn recently. We were in the "wine cellar" room and we had about 40 people. It was a very positive experience. The Inn Manager Effie was extremely professional and helpful throughout the planning process. She answered all of our questions promptly by phone or e-mail and worked with us to plan the menu, the seating, etc. for the shower. We visited the Inn three times altogether--once to see the venue before we booked it, once to decorate the room, and lastly on the day of the shower. Each time we went, every member of the staff from the people at the front desk to the chef to the servers were extremely friendly, polite and professional. On the day of the shower itself the food and the service was wonderful. It is obvious that Idlewyld takes great pride in their business. It makes for a very warm and inviting atmosphere and is a great place if you're looking for an intimate and enjoyable party/get-together with friends and relatives.

Facial lacked some of the basics. No gown. No hair band to keep product out of hair. Several products were smeared over my eyes. Making it uncomfortable and difficult to see after. Never had a facial where the face mask was smeared over eyes. Wouldn't go again

This is my second visit and once again all expectations were exceeded. Loved the professional and friendly staff who went above and beyond to make my stay so relaxing. The front porch fireplace was a cozy hangout spot in addition to my balcony facing the beautiful gardens. Can't wait to come again.

My husband and I booked a night away at the Idlewyld for my birthday. (Saturday night)We made dinner reservations there as well and I was so looking forward to it. I started to have a tooth ache on Thursday. By Friday the pain was unbearable. I went to the dentist and found out I had an abcessed tooth. I was given antibiotics and pain medication. I called the Idlewyld at 2:45 Friday to cancel the reservation. They informed me that 48 hours notice is their policy and if they do not rent out the room I will be charge $255 dollars. I begged for them to please make an acceptation as we will be rebooking this again but they said unfortunately there are no exceptions. No apologies, lack of empathy, this is the worst $255 dollar Birthday gift I have ever had. :(

We stayed at the Inn in August 2017 and held our wedding there June 2018. The staff are the best piece of the puzzle. To a person, everyone was friendly, warm, welcoming and helpful. Our guests all remarked how lovely the staff was, no matter the time of day. We kept Norman up helping us with Scotch one evening until nearly 10 and he was back at breakfast the next day with a smile on. The same was true after our wedding reception. The staff who closed up at midnight were back and friendly the next morning. Not a grump among them!
The Inn is from the mid-1800 and was built as a private residence. The building has retained a lot of it's unique charm but has been updated for guest comfort with firm beds, sleek minimalist modern furniture that compliments the old style and nice new bathrooms. It's more than comfortable without being over the top. During our visit in June, all the rooms had either a portable air conditioner, fan or both.
Effie, the manager and wedding coordinator, really cares about the guests and that transcends through the rest of the staff and the way they do business. There wasn't a person in town who had a bad thing to say about the Idlewyld when we mentioned having our wedding there.

My girlfriend and I shared a wonderful anniversary meal at Idlewyld. They went out of their way to accommodate her meal because she is celiac. Every single staff member we talked with was friendly and helpful. The chef is talented and whipped up a gluten free sauce that was delicious.
Will visit again! thank you for a great anniversary evening!

Great spa experience and outstanding restaurant service in a beautiful setting. I mean, this place is just breathtaking!!!

The only negative I can report is the parking. Space is limited and some of the spots are a little tough to get in and out of in a longer vehicle (van or truck). There is a sign clearly posted that overflow parking is available at the seniors home 2 driveways down.

My wife booked a murder mystery dinner, which we were not able to attend due to my changing work schedule. We called to cancel, and the receptionist gave a long winded explanation on why they weren't able to do so. We accepted this and her friend was going to go in my place, only to have the Idlewyld inform us they indeed canceled our reservation, after telling us they wouldn't do so. We find this to be quite deceptive, and are not happy with their handling of the situation.

I went to the spa with my mother-in-law and sister...

I went to the spa with my mother-in-law and sister-in-law two weeks ago. We all had different services and all would rate our overall service at around 4. Here's the pros and cons of each service and technician.

REFLEXOLOGY (5/5): I found this to be quite relaxing. Teresa was excellent at the massage. I probably could have asked for more pressure but didn't. I really liked how calm and relaxed Teresa's demeanor was. She put relaxing music on and didn't speak for the entire session, which really gave me time to relax. Afterwards, I felt as if most of my body had been massaged, even though it was just my feet. I would definitely go again!

FACIAL (4/5 for me; 5/5 for my MIL): We both had the Organic Illuminating Eminence Facial. The facial itself was AMAZING. Shawna did a fantastic job. I could really feel the products working and she knew exactly how much pressure to apply for a relaxing yet effective facial. I especially liked the pressure she used for the shoulder and leg massage. My MIL also loved it. I would give the facial a 4/5 only because I would've wanted a more quiet facial (but felt it would be rude to say it). I gave Shawna one-word answers to her questions for a while thinking she'd understand I didn't want to talk but it didn't work. On the other hand, my MIL loved the conversation part of the facial and really enjoyed talking to Shawna throughout. Shawna was really sweet and easy-going. We ended up buying a couple of products from her and she was nice enough to provide us with some samples too!

MASSAGE (3/5) - My MIL had a 60 minute massage from the RMT. She wasn't very impressed. She felt that the RMT didn't seem very present and appeared to be somewhat distracted. Also, the RMT didn't provide equal treatment on her whole body. For example, the RMT massaged one foot and toes and didn't do the other one. She definitely expected better treatment from a spa.

PEDICURE (4/5): My SIL had a 60 minute pedicure. The pedicure itself was nice and relaxing, and her nail technician, Alma, was also pleasant and skilled. My SIL had brought a book with her thinking that she could read during the 1 hour appointment. Every time she started reading Alma would start talking to her and she'd have to put down her book. This happened multiple times.

IDLEWYLD INN: PROS -The location and architecture is beautiful. The grounds of the Inn are stunning and it's a beautiful place to get pampered. The hostess was very pleasant and offered us tea/coffee upon our arrival. Shawna offered us tea/coffee after our treatments. CONS - Being a spa and us (my MIL and myself) getting multiple treatments, it would have been nice to have been directed to put on a robe. I have been to many spas and every one of them (even the small ones) direct you to put on a robe to help you relax and 'feel' like you're at a spa. Both my MIL and I were taken to our first service fully dressed, even though we saw robes hanging in the rooms. Lastly, the staff should be able to read their patrons' body language to determine if they are the type of people to talk during treatments or not. For my SIL and myself, we would have preferred more quiet during our treatments.

Location is great for a peaceful couples retreat. Would definitely recommend. The building is historic and staff is extremely friendly. The morning breakfast buffet is amazing and I'd recommend to have the breakfasts outside where you can hear the fountain and see the birds in the garden
