Great inn with a lot of history. Originally the first mayor of London's home in 1878. Now a wonderful getaway treat, with Spa facilities and an excellent chef and restaurant. Breakfast is included as is parking and decent WiFi!

We reserved a table at the restaurant for our anniversary for a group of 5 including my 13 months daughter; I was really disappointed with the staff attitude.
While I was showing around the restaurant to my fussy daughter holding her in my arms to keep her calm ; she saw a wooden serving board wrapped in a clear cello and she wanted to touch it as a curiosity and I gave it to her that the little 13 month baby see what it is! She just liked the cello wrap rustling actually.
The waitress named Kati(the old lady) came to me promptly and told me wrathfully: YOUR DAUGHTER DOESN T WANT TO PLAY WITH A 50 DOLLAR BOARD RIGHT??!!! I was surprised with her manner!!!
She could be more polite and nice with a guest that tries to keep her baby calm not mentioning the price of the serving board with anger!!!!
Although the food was very delicious and I loved the restaurant decorations but I am really disappointed with the staff unprofessional attitude.

We have stayed at this inn multiple times and enjoy the location and experience every time. It is a beautiful historic building and is close to the downtown area. The staff is friendly and rooms are clean and inviting. Parking lot is small but they have overflow two doors down. Not a huge issue but if you forgot something in the car or had a bunch of luggage could be an annoyance if you had to park there.

We had our wedding here last night. Hotel manager is great, food and service is amazing. If you have a small size wedding this will be the place! We will definitely come back when we visit London again.

This was a great stay. Had a nice massage and one of the best meals of my life. The bed was a bit stiff, and the heating wasn't working in my room at first. One of the personnel brought in a space heater once it was brought to the hotel's attention though.

The star of the show was the service in general, but definitely shone at the restaurant. Definitely professional servers, eager to make your meal absolutely fantastic. Add to that some good cocktails and absolutely incredible food (I can't stress this enough...the food was amazing!), and you'll have a unique, wonderful experience dining while feeling like royalty.

The Inn itself is quite beautiful, as are the grounds. There are some beautiful gardens and a great courtyard for meals or just relaxing. There are a few signs of wear and tear in the rooms, but it night have even added to the charm.

Bathroom was very clean, and modern fixtures. The jacuzzi tub was quite loud, but very relaxing, and fit two "not so slender" adults well.

Bedroom was very nice. We stayed in the summer time, and there was extra air conditioning in the room to ensure we had a comfortable sleep. My only real complaint is that there were items in the recycling in the room. Although not a real issue for us (save on plastic bags), it would have been a good thing to clean them out before our arrival.

We would definitely visit again.

As a side note to management who might read this...please don't go through with removing breakfast from being included in the cost of the room. It added to our experience, and not including would feel like a cash grab.

We had to replan our August 2020 fairly last minute, moving the venue from Cambridge to London. A family member suggested holding a dinner for our 30 guests at the Idlewyld; despite having lived in London most of my life, it was a place I was unfamiliar with.

We met with Effie about a month or so before our wedding. She was so helpful in helping us envision how we could have a COVID-safe dinner with our friends and family. On the day of the wedding, we arrived at the Idlewyld around 6pm, taking some pictures around their beautiful grounds. The staff had set up beautiful, socially distanced tables for us, accommodating all of our different 'bubbles' on the front porch and in the wine cellar (we had hoped for all of us to be in the back patio, but rain threatened all day).

The food was amazing - we chose one appetizer (Cesar salad), two entrees (chicken and steak), and one dessert (creme brulee). Several guests mentioned it was one of the best meals they have had in a long time. Unfortunately, the creme brulee hadn't set, but the kitchen had chocolate cheesecake waiting in the wings, which made our guests very happy.

The service was even better. I was absolutely blown away by how attentive and thoughtful the servers on the front porch and in the wine cellar were. There was never an empty glass or dirty dish sitting around. They made each and every guest feel special, and that meant the world to us. Although we were disappointed our original wedding plans in Cambridge had fallen through due to COVID, the Idlewyld made us wish we had just planned our wedding dinner here all along!

Several of our guests (including locals) decided to stay overnight at the Idlewyld. My husband and I had the honeymoon suite, which was a beautiful, spacious room with the most comfortable bed. I didn't see any of the other rooms, but heard they were all uniquely decorated and comfortable - all of our guests were very happy with their stay. The front desk/reservation staff were helpful every time we spoke with them. Breakfast was included in the morning - there were several options to choose from (all delicious), which you could take in their dining areas or pay an extra fee for room service.

Overall, our wedding experience at the Idlewyld was absolutely unforgettable. I would recommend it to anyone. We plan on returning for dinner, brunch, and even an overnight getaway soon!

Visited for lunch for my second time. Both times were parties. The first time was superb. Excellent food, snappy service and food value. This time was a crushing disappointment. My starter was delicious, but the main was bland and disheartening. And the service! I don't know if our waiter was simply inexperienced or merely incompetent, the service was slow, spotty and mostly confused. Proceed with caution.

Today's experience was different from the last time my wife and I were there. Last time we were there, the food was fantastic, service was amazing, atmosphere was awesome. The only difference now was that food was cold. The waiter we had was pleasant. But unfortunately, did not do much from there. He only said, he will speak to the chef. I did not make much of a fuss about it. Hopefully, on our next visit, the food will be more delicious.

A beautiful Inn, spa and restaurant. I've been here for afternoon tea several times.now - it happens once a month on the third Saturday of the month. So much fun and a lovely meal! Scones are to die for!

Everything about this hotel is unique. The staff are very welcoming. The building itself is full of character and has interesting history. excellent breakfast. I stayed for four days and enjoyed every minute. Quiet clean rooms. Highly recommend. Small and intimate. This is how I like to spend my time when I am away from home.

Love it here and the food it so good you will not be disappointed in quality of food! Our server Jen was great but one thing I really dislike is going out for a nice meal or really any sit down place is when my kids meals are the last to come and we had a party of 12...makes no sense. The kids meals should come before adult meals everytime. Of course will be coming back and will just have to ask next time!

Lovely atmosphere. Lovely service. However, I wasn't very impressed with the food. We went for lunch. Presentation was very good. The quiche special was a crustless version, the size of a rather small flat muffin. The accompanying salad was light and insubstantial. It came draped across the quiche as if to hide the small size. The turkey sandwich was on the dry side and not very flavourful. The Reuben sandwich was good, but very greasy. The ceasar salad was nice and fresh. The fries were good. As I mentioned before the atmosphere and service was very nice. Easy parking and wheelchair accessible if you apply some umph to get up the ramp at the doorway. The online menu hadn't been updated for the summer so it listed the winter/fall menu. Normally wouldn't have bothered me but our 91 years young birthday girl had looked forward to the bread pudding on the online menu and was a bit disappointed that they didn't have it on the summer menu. Prices were decent. Would I give it another try? Maybe...I hear the liver and onions are very good.

Service was impeccable. Food extravagent and well priced. Atmosphere beautiful, grounds were well kept. A hidden gem for sure. Had a great massage and dinner and breakfast with the bliss package, highly recommend. Cara took great care of us.

I spoke to someone about a Murder Mystery Dinner....they were so long winded and obviously didn't understand what I decided to do in the end and nor did I understand what she was going to do. It all culminated in me having a bad experience with them...

Went here with my girlfriend for dinner last night. Food was excellent but the service could have been a bit better. We had gift certificates from Ontario s finest and were told after dinner we could only use 100 dollars worth of cards towards our bill. We asked ahead of time while making reservations if we could use the cards and weren t told the limit. Other than that it was a good experience and a beautiful unique place to have dinner.

Lovely and delightful! We had a delicious dinner (fresh pasta and rack if lamb) out on the beautiful, well groomed patio. Inside the house is just as inviting and well kept, with rich furnishings and decor, and a quaint sitting room, where we had our lovely breakfast and freshly ground coffee. Our room had all the luxuries of a boutique hotel. Very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We'll be back!

My partner and I spent our 10th anniversary there, and absolutely loved it! The food, martinis, and service were spectacular. I misplaced my phone before I left, and had 3 staff members searching for it with me. HUGE thank you to Kath C for above and beyond service, as well as Leah at the desk and Brian in the dining room. Just a fantastic experience all around. Will definitely be returning!

After spending a work week at Idlewyld, we can attest to the spectacular hospitality and the positive reviews written below by other patrons. The welcoming, smiling, attentive, courteous, prompt, caring, generous, and more staff was the best part of the Idlewyld experience. From the time you set foot on the driveway at the Inn to the Check Out, you feel royally treated. The premises are so well decorated that minute details of their interior designing kept us in awe. The background canvas of the painting hung in our room matched the accented wall paper in the room. The peacock in the painting matched the colors of the curtains in the room. The mirror to the curves of the carpet and the furniture were all so astutely coordinated. The moments spent at the front staircase, dining and patio halls were all the moments to savour. Not to mention the massage, which is a experience in itself of the whole Idlewyld stay. The delicious and sumptuous meals served at dinner and breakfast made the stay all the more appealing. The hostess at the dinning room, front staff, kitchen staff, servers, all were found smiling and extending conversations inspite of their busy schedules and physically enduring workload. The staff promptly accommodated our requests in spite of being extremely busy during the week. Each morning the driveway was full of cars, you could tell the hotel is fully packed, while they also entertained parties and weddings. It never felt busy or you felt brushed off. It was a quaint and peaceful experience each day and night nestled amongst greenery and the waters of the nearby Thames. The mosquitoes and flys never bothered a bit during our dinner and breakfast meals at the patios. The place is very well maintained, including the elevators and the hallway carpets. Every day after our training, we would look forward to returning to the Inn. We left Idlewyld home with many sweet memories of our stay. Thank you very much to the Idlewyld staff. Kudos to the management for recruiting and retaining a highly efficient and humanly staff at the Idlewyld. You made our Summer memorable! Whole heartedly thank you. Michele, our breakfast hostess, hope you read this and remember us fondly, as we would you.

Idlewyld is an absolutely gorgeous old Victorian. The grounds and building are just stunning and you almost feel like you're transported to another time the moment you set foot inside.

We only stayed overnight on a trip home from Montreal so we only got to experience Idlewyld for a short time. The room was beautiful, but hot. Very hot. Even with the AC up full blast and an oscillating fan on high it was almost too warm to sleep comfortably.

The staff, however, were amazing. When we checked in, there was a technical problem with our US card but she went above and beyond to accommodate us. When we checked out and mentioned the heat and the discomfort, she knocked a little off the room to make up for it. They did right by us, and that is the true measure of hospitality. The staff of Idlewyld are incredible.

The free breakfast was very good, above and beyond most free hotel breakfasts I've had. And Cara - the server we had - was lovely: friendly, genuine, and a true pleasure to have met.

We would happily stay at Idlewyld again, although perhaps later in the year when the temps are a little cooler.

Hosted a client event here in there cellar room. We had a menu mix up, but that was corrected quickly. Servers and team were amazing and discrete which helped keep the meeting productive and without interruption. I would definitely recommend this place.

The girls at the spa did a great job!! I would definitely go here again the prices are so reasonable for such a picturesque location and the manicures looked great.

However, a staff member called in sick and the Inn had no alternative employees to call in... I was unable to get my nails done with the bride and other bridesmaids I was with which was sort of the whole point of the trip

We had reservations here for a getaway package including dinner and breakfast. Had also booked massages for both myself and my husband. Ended up having to cancel with less than 48hrs notice due to a pregnancy issue. They were very kind and accommodating, didn't charge us for the room, meal, or massages, even though we cut it close with our cancellation. Great customer service, can't wait to rebook a stay there in the future!
