Best institute for studying Chemical Technology and Life Sciences

ICT is known for its research and better opportunities to study abroad with many specialised fields in chemical technology. But from the last few years, ICT placement cell has taken major strives to bring chemical companies for campus placements. Placements for almost every branch are 100% with the maximum package offered in B.chem engineering being 16 LPA and 12 LPA for chemical technology branches. The placements at ICT are fine for Chemical Engineering, Polymer and Food Technology branches. Almost 70 percent of the students who SAT for placements got placed. The highest package was 16.5 LPA given by BPCL to four students. The average for Chemical Engineering branch is 6-7 LPA. Only Chemical Engineering companies are allowed in our campus for placements. Some other companies which visited were Dairy, Exxon, Dr. Reddy, Alkylamines

Placements for M.Chem engineering are very good. Last year, the placement ratio was almost 100%. Although, the packages provided are not very attractive and lie within the range of 5 LPA to 15 LPA, since freshers in the chemical industry are never offered a good package. But as experience builds, there is exponential growth in the career. What matters is that you should be working in a core company where you can apply

Institute is very superb and lectures , students are very attractive persons the atmosphere also very good, they are only to be improve the technical instruments .

The ICT was founded in 1933 as a University Department of Chemical Technology (UDCT) of the University of Mumbai. Robert Forster was first Head of the Department (1933 38), followed by K. Venkataraman, who continued its development. It was considerably improved under the guidance of Man Mohan Sharma. The university conferred the autonomous status on the UDCT in 1994, with concurrence from the Maharashtra State Government and the UGC.[4]

UDCT was renamed as the Mumbai University Institute of Chemical Technology (Autonomous) (MUICT) on 26 January 2002. In June 2004, in accordance with the Technical Education Quality Improvement Program (TEQIP) of the Government of India, under which the institute was selected as a Lead Institution, the Government of Maharashtra granted complete autonomy to the institute. On 12 September 2008, it was granted the deemed university status and renamed as the Institute of Chemical Technology.[3]

Institute of Chemical Technology was the first institute to be granted the elite badge by the government of the state of Maharashtra. This status put the institute on a par with other reputable schools such as the Indian Institutes of Technology, Indian Institute of Science and the Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research. It also makes the institute, which has plans to set up a satellite campus,[5] eligible for various special grants from the union and the state governments.[6]

I studied at ICT and those 4 years were the best years of my time.A very strong academic foundation not only helps you think out of the box,the infrastructure is huge.The research labs are at par with international standards.The faculty and professors are world class.A very beautiful campus and an amazing Football ground.You can pursue many extra curricular activities with Music Club,Art Club and Lit Club.All the support staff of very helpful and students very helpful ! I have done my MPharm and PhD in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from ICT. Hence was associated with college for 7 years. Overall good infrastructure and faculty. ICT shapes you into cofident, knowledgable, research oriented individuals. Its a brand in itself. Strongly recommended.

It's the best college for chemical engineering in India.It also stands in top 20 chem engg schools in the world based on research and citations per faculty. The first ever phd in engineering was awarded from ICT. It has got an urban 16 acres campus with all the facilities including hostels, grounds, gym, canteen, mess etc. The placements here are also good especially for the master's degree better than most of the IITS. Many alumni are Padma bushans and Padma Vibushans. Overall, its in par with IITs. Recently it also bagged highest ever A++ rating by NAAC.
Various courses offered include Chemical,Polymer,Oils, Food, Textile engineering, Pharmacy, Dyes tech, Biotech etc.
