Excellent hotel! Great service, gym, space for reading!
Budget accomodation centralised location easy qcces to public transpirt
Pretty good food, bedding was comfortable and room was tidy.
Please don't go on a family trip.
If you don't run out of money in Melbourne, you won't want to go again.
During the package tour, the guide said that all of the nearby hotels were full, so the guide told me that there is only Kingsgate Hotel. My mind, it's a two-day stay, but I checked in and wondered if it would be okay... This is like a cheap motel. At the same time, the smell of paint is remodeling. It is not a good environment because the facility itself is aging. In particular, the restroom is not the standard of paying expensive money and traveling on a package has disappeared.
There were no Korean speaking staff.
It was very difficult to ask for a room that smells like paint.
Of course, I speak English incorrectly, and neither the staff nor the right to change rooms...
Breakfast is just cheap bacon morning bread, orange juice omelet, etc... don't expect it...
If it's a good thing, it's okay.
You can walk to see the Yarra River and the city is worth walking.
The subway station is also reasonably accessible and the staff are friendly.
It is recommended if you just use it for a cheap one-day stay due to insufficient travel expenses.
Or it will never shine!~~
Was a nice little hotel once upon a time. Sadly, the place is now a boarding house for drug addicts.
Great location with cafes, restaurants, and southern cross right down the road with shopping stores, trams to take you around. Great room, spacious
Stayed here for a night to bridge the gap between our arrival in Melbourne and staying at a friends house in St. Kilda. The room was very reasonably priced (first week in January, so I assume a lot of places had cut price rooms going after New Year).
We arrived earlier than the advertised check in room but were informed by the incredibly cheerful receptionist that if we were happy with a ground floor room that we could check in immediately; we were tired and just keen to explore so happily took the room. The room was spotlessly clean and spacious and absolutely fine for our requirements. The location is incredibly close to the Southern Cross station; great if you have been out of town on the train or taking the skybus in from the airport.
Melbourne has a great transport network but from here you really feel like you are in the heart of things; there are a wealth of trams around the corner that can get you out to most areas with relative ease. From here you can be on the South bank within around 20 minutes walking time, which has a wealth of restaurants and bars.
All in all, a great location - would happily stay again if I was stuck without accommodation in Melbourne!
Very small but enough for one night.
Clean and staff are friendly
Rude at front desk got real aggressive at one stage .caught two guys on their phone in the kitchen at breakfast while we waited to get served the only thing thats saves it is the nice manager on the day. Oh yeah we got upgraded which comes with a double bed
Staff where great and easy to deal with but that's where it stops the rooms where small and outdated outside noise came through the walls easy and I was never notified about building work going on in the rooms next to the one I had with workman slamming doors hard at 7:30am every day so much for a sleep in
Good service and trustworthy, thanks Eric and company!
The first apartment we entered was a garbage in the second floor, but we told them we wanted the best apartment for you and took us to the sixth floor as a team of teams and a sweet and the scenery is wonderful but sure Zado rent us
Nice place to stay close to all the attractions and shopping in CBD and walking distance from Southern Cross Station.
Excellent location close to tram station, rooms are clean and complimentary breakfast has good varieties.
Great hotel with good value. Staff were very friendly and the whole stay was a great experience. Had a room with breakfast included and it was very nice.
It's not bad. It's equal the price and basically it is what you expect from this kind of place. However, the housekeeper should be more focused on details. The rooms are clean, but if you have a closer look, there's actually lot of dust in the room, which can be wiped in a couple of seconds. The reception service is great tho..
Giant room and bathroom! Actually 5 days ago we went to the red ibis of bourne and it was really gross! Unfriendly and also paid wifi which is free at ibis all over the world!
Furthermore, Ibis Styles was kind enough to allow us to enter our room at 7:30 of the wedding instead of waiting for 10.
Really very kind!
Love everything about this hotel!
We had a great stay here and the hotel staff was really helpful.
The room was newly renovated and had all the required amenities. The place was located in the centre of the city and was accessible from everywhere.
Safe. Clean. Gr8 location. Value 4 money. Super staff. Night and Day. Guy who checked me in 11/10.
Clean and clean accommodation, transportation is convenient, in the free Z o n e1, but the house is old
I needed to stay there one night, place was nice enough. Though I am really annoyed that their 'pre-authorisation' charge has not been refunded yet, now more than a week later. I'm on a tight income at the moment and need this back!
Good for the price... But amenities could be improved
Something was lacking hmmm possibly wall thickness.
I got a relatively cheap room in this hotel, less than 100AUD, room 235 is good and clean.
However, the window in the room seems next to a huge generator outside that makes a lot of noise like you are on a flight seat near the engine.
Also, around 1am to 3am, it seems the hotel is renovating because I can hear the something like hammer or the wall just too thin that my upstairs neigbour are having some fun.
Anyway, I couldn t get proper sleep the whole night. I know I paid cheap and I don t mind others, at least provide a quiet environment for the guest to slee!!!!!
Congested Rooms, Good if you are looking for money saver
Price / performance totally ok, just for a city like Melbourne. It was clean, quiet (5th floor) friendly staff. Tram is just around the corner and if you arrive by skybus from the airport at the Southern Cross Station ($ 19 per person) it's about a 5min walk. I had not tried breakfast.
Room was fine. Bed a little tough. Also could not get tv to work.
Hotel under reservation however did not mark price down at all and was still overpriced for a semi-decent location. Live renovation rooms with no doors, live switchboards that were accessible by the public, and overall smelled of bleach.
good location, functional rooms but very small, outdated bathrooms, reception staff is very helpful.
Stay for 4 nights in family room. Notice posted at the lobby that the hotel rooms are being renovated, but not the room I stayed. Cleanliness is maintained but still has room for improvement. The room I stayed is a bit smelly & humid. It should have another mirror in the room besides one in bathroom. No side table lamps in the room. Wifi is slow. Low quality water boiler is staining at bottom.
Garbage hotel. Under renovation. No noise proofing. I had to sleep with headphones in ears and music on to offset my immediate room neighbour snoring. Seriously. The walls are paper thin. Don't stay here if u value your sleep.
Average. I ve stayed here a couple times over the last fews years and it s strangely been currently renovating both times.
Very close to Southern Cross Station, CP value is good
The staff have been great but room 220 is a shocker. The painted toilet cistern, ancient and dirty taps and grouting, mouldy silicon, stained carpets and walls but at least the bed sheets were clean and comfortable. Had no problems with noise. Didn't think much of the breakfast area and walked straight back out.
The car park is a block away (Wilsons parking where Spencer St meets Landscape St) and costs $25, the rooms are cosy but they have noisy air cons and hard beds, check out is 10.30, I wouldn't pay more than $100 for a room here.
Cheap stay, good location easy to find friendly staff
Small price, small room. So far so good.
BUT: the fan on the window lets in a lot of noise from the outside ... Actually permanent noise level. Sensitive people should arm themselves against it.
The location is good, less than 5 minutes from Southern Cross station, not far from the restaurants and alleys.
Those who do not have high demands are in good hands here
Great reasonably priced hotel in the CBD. Close to attractions, tram lines and resturants. The room was clean and had everything you would expect. Spent 2 nights here and would definitely stay again next time visit Melbourne.
Newly renovated, good condition, not far from train / bus / tram station
Excellent place to stay. Friendly helpful staff. Very clean rooms. Will be back again for sure.
Good place in a good location. Rooms are nice stayed there 5 times will stay again for sure
Have stayed there for the last 8yrs so that says a lot
This Ibis in Melbourne is in the middle of a renovation so it's not fair to make a judgement. Next time maybe.
No upgrades for Accor Gold members. Stay clear of this hotel, it's not in the Styles category, it's old and smells of paint, small rooms and terrible customer service
Good to stay if you are on budget. Great location. Attention to detail of quality of hotel room is lacking. Could do with room makeover. Service is great.
Great place for vacation. Friendly staff and decent food choices.
Looks nice in lobby but then the hotel and rooms feels like a back packers. Tiny rooms, not very quiet, very old. Bathroom seemed to be recently renovated though and quite nice.
Correct establishment. The rooms are noisy. The hotel locates it at a nerve center of the city. The breakfasts are hearty and inexpensive.
Stairs suddenly enter the hotel.
The only way to go to the reception is to take the suitcase and climb the stairs.
Corner room on the top floor (6th floor) with 1 double bed and 2 single beds, more than enough for 3 people.
Bathroom is a little too small to rest.
There is a refrigerator, hairdryer and kettle.
It's a little noisy, because the building is old or it was a room on the street.
However, wifi is too slow in the room and it is difficult to connect.
What does it mean that people in the corridor are easier to connect?
About $ 60 by taxi from the airport.
5 minutes walk to the nearest tram stop, 10 minutes walk to Southern Cross station.
I'm hoping they have great plans , comfortable and caring.
I would never stay at this hotle again. The room is so cold. The bathroom is pokey. when we stayed we were required to boil the kettle in the bathroom because the other powerpoints were all taken. The people on checkin fail to pointout that the premises is adjacent to a nightclub which goes all night. I would suggest paying for the parking (which we did thank golly) because the street youths, partygoers etc will soon ruin your car. I found the staff where less than sympathetic when these concerns were raised and when asked why the detail of the club was not mentioned on arrival considering I had the kids they said that if it was a problem I should have mentioned it to the staff so they could ring the establishment and get them to turn down the music. YEAH right!!! I would never stay here again even if it was free. Totally ruined my weekend. And PS the veiw of the walls was great
Great for a quick stay in melbourne. Easy to find and acess
What a fantastic hotel ! The staff are amazing and so helpful. We had to rebook as flights were cancelled .....these guys went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. Will be staying here every time we come to Melbourne. Great job ibis
Great - sure they are under renovations but been friendly and attentive. Great hotel
Our room was a bit small ,but all you need for a few nights, great location ,
Comfortable, tidy and a great location. Price was very reasonable
As we walked in the kingsgate hotel, it was rather nice. As we got closer to our room, the hotel became more and more disappointing. Both the elevators were very dodgy and the hallways were quite depressing. As we opened the door to our room, an instant foul smell of raw sewage hit us. The room was awful, majority of the windows were covered, paint was peeling off the walls and there were multiple stains on both the carpet and bed sheets. We were also told that parking is free but was actually $20 and was in a separate building from the hotel. We sprayed perfume and deodorant all through out the room but nothing got rid of that lingering raw sewage smell. All the windows in our room were facing one Direction and the view looked like a prison. The room was most certainly not worth $120 for one night. Would not recommend staying here. Absolute rip off.
I'm not one to whinge, but this place is a shocker. I've stayed in many ibis styles and ibis budgets and love them but this place is more akin to khao San rd backpackers. Rabbit warren of corridors poorly painted in bright colors lead to room barely big enough lie down. Loose fitted power points.
Cheap clean accommodation in a good location. Don't expect anything fancy.
Great value for the money- walking distance from Southern Cross station. Friendly staff and clean :)
A three is not a hate it. Waiting for colleagues to change.
Excellent location, friendly staff, reasonably priced, rooms aren't fancy but are comfortable and clean.
Definitely not worth 200 a night, very poor quality
Functional, good location, a bit old but currently under renovation. Very limited breakfast
