IBA is the top ranking Business Institute in Karachi. It was established in the 60s to impart business education in Pakistan.
It ihas produced top ranking economists and businessmen in Pakistan who have contributed to the Pakistani economy in a big way. The academic standards are very high and only the best students qualify. The staff is well qualified and the academic discipline is of an international standard.

The best educational institute. The campus is very beautiful. They provide sports facilities and encourage students to take part in extra curricular activities.

IBA happens to be inside KU and they share the same entrance gate, but only KU cars are allowed inside and IBA students are forced to either walk to iba or use their drop-off car service. This gets dangerous when classes end at night for females students as they can't safely make their way to the main gate from iba campus building. A few females have already dropped out after becoming a victim of harrasment as they leave after the end of their evening class (AND IBA MANAGEMENT IS NOT WILLING TO HELP). They might be known for their good faculty but students' safety shall be their priority. I don't get it why iba cars are not allowed through the shared gate, they have their bloody campus in there!

Newly built campus truly represents the worth of the institution. IBA finally have the facilities which it deserves. I think credit goes to Dr. Ishrat.

IBA, Karachi is one of best Institute for business study in Asia and out of the region. Maximum institutions teach how to be a good employee and work for a company under a leader but IBA creates leaders for future leadership in corporate world. Many foreign students who want nothing special only best come here to learn. In IBA top class teachers teach students to play a leader role in corporate world. This university offers scholarship for economical weak students.

The course contents, the curriculum, the pedagogical tools and the assessment and testing methods were developed under the guidance of reputed scholars from these two institutions. IBA has zealously guarded the high standards and academic traditions it had inherited from Wharton and USC while adapting and adjusting them with the passage of time.

This is one of the best business and computer science schools 8n Pakistan.

The application procedure was horribly managed and the management was very unhelpful. I, having been exempted from the entrance test, gave an interview only to receive an email saying my SAT scores weren't good enough. If they weren't good enough then WHY was I exempted from the test and WHY was I shortlisted for an interview? Really slow responses to concerns and queries and ZERO professionalism. I'd give it zero stars if it was possible.
This isn't just some bitter hate review, I was genuinely frustrated during the application and interview process since I live overseas. I get that they have an AMAZING reputation, but at least TRY to deliver to the name!

The Institute of Business Administration (IBA) (Sindhi: ) is an independent university in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. Founded in 1955, it is the oldest business school outside North America.

IBA was established as the business school in 1955 in collaboration between Pakistani government and USAID with the technical support from the Wharton School and the University of Southern California. Several prominent American professors were assigned to the IBA to develop curriculum. In 1982, it became the first Pakistani institute to offer a four-year liberal arts undergraduate degree.
It remained a constituent school within the University of Karachi until, in 1994, when its status was elevated to an independent chartered university by the Sindh Government. Since 2003, IBA has expanded from a purely graduate business school to an interdisciplinary university with undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate programs.

IBA, today, is one of Pakistan's selective and highest-ranked institutes particularly known for its business program.

IBA is the oldest business school outside North America. Till 1994, the University of Karachi awarded degrees to the graduates. In that year, the Sindh Assembly elevated the Institute's status to that of a degree-awarding institution. Despite a rapid increase in the number of business schools, the IBA has maintained its position as the premier Institution of higher learning in the field of Management and Business Administration.

The IBA initially offered its MBA program only for day scholars. In 1957, an Evening Program was started to cater to the needs of the numerous working executives and managers who were interested in furthering their careers through part-time business studies. In 1982, a three-year BBA (Honors) Program was introduced which has now been upgraded to a four-year BBA program.

The Faculty of Computer Science was originally established as the Center for Computer Studies in 1983 with the collaboration of IBM, Pakistan. It initially offered a diploma in System Analysis to overcome a shortage of software professionals in the country. It now offers BS (Computer Science), MS (Computer Science), and PhD programs. The PhD degree is being offered in the areas of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Operations Research, Artificial Intelligence, Cryptography, Numerical Analysis and Numerical Computing.

In 2009, IBA introduced its first weekend Executive MBA Program (EMBA), focusing on the needs of the mid-career professionals, serving in the Corporate Sector, Banks and Government departments. The curriculum, methodology and course material have been developed in consultation with industry experts and lead resource persons. Currently 280 participants from more than 100 organizations are attending this program steered by leading professionals and senior IBA faculty.

IBA has recently introduced new BS degree programs in Economics and Mathematics (Double Major), Social Sciences, Accounting and Finance and also MS/ Ph.D. programs in Economics and Mathematics.

The Center for Executive Education (CEE) organizes customized courses for corporate clients and holds short courses on emerging issues and themes for those engaged in business. CEE has strategic partnership with the Indian School of Business whose faculty conducts courses and seminars at Karachi.

The Centre for Excellence in Islamic Finance has been established at IBA with the objective of providing a platform for discovery, enhancement and dissemination of knowledge in the field of Islamic Finance. It aims to be a world class Centre which, through education and research, carries on IBA's legacy of thought leadership in the Islamic Finance industry.

The newly established Center for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) at the IBA is a breeding ground for new business startups by the students. The Center hosts more than 40 incubator and accelerator companies in its premises and provides a conducive research and development environment f o r innovation, and turning ideas into business opportunities. It aims to put Karachi on the entrepreneurial map of the world. IBA has a 10 year collaborative partnership with Babson College in Boston which is the top most entrepreneurship institute in USA.
