A staple of Dairyland's Capitol and a can't-miss for pizza lovers. Don't expect cheese and pepperoni, and they are not known for their fluffy crust. Think more of a carb-heavy creation like mac & cheese topped pizza. Yum!
Grab a slice to go and take a stroll around the Capitol. It's a Mad City must!

The pizza there is amazing, and the prices aren't too bad. I went there a lot for lunch, and the only thing to watch out for is the fact that there's always a giant lunch rush.
This pizza, in my personal opinion, is the very best pizza that I have eaten in Madison, WI, yet. My number 2 option, for best pizza, is Pizza Di Roma. It's almost a tie. The crust is super fresh, and still has flour on it. The flavor options are diverse; my favorite, so far, is probably the Chicken Alfredo. For me, as an Italian-American food lover, combining pizza and pasta is Heaven. My third favorite pizza option is Yeti Pizza, which is in Stoughton, WI. That pizza (and place) is just outstanding. There is nothing else like it. May I let you in on the fact that Ians is always packed with college students, but even though this is so, I still love to dine at this pizza joint. Waiting in line is well worth the wait.
All I have to say is that this is a requirement for anyone living or visiting the Madison area. Although it sounds very strange, macaroni n' cheese pizza is one of the best pizzas you will taste.
Wow oh wow oh wow! Some of the best vegan pizza I have ever tasted, and definitely the most creative options. Vegan Mac and cheese pizza?? Walnut sausage!? Veggie pepperoni?!! Yes. Yes please.
I was a little uncertain of how their ordering worked at first, which definitely caused me anxiety, but the workers were helpful at explaining what was available.
Plenty of meaty options for those of you carnivorously inclined as well.
The staff here is friendly and professional, food is amazing, and the menu options are pretty unique. Also, I saw in the ladies room there was a mosaic of tiles made of Pac-Man characters--sweet! The atmosphere is laid-back and it's the perfect little pizza shop for this neighborhood around the capitol. Easiest to get to when you are on foot.
Great pizza, lots of options. They offer plenty of vegetarian and vegan options and gluten-free crust, and there's a good variety of specialty pizzas. (My favorite's the "SH-BAM!")
Great service and selection of pizza by the slice. They also have very good salads. Plus, when you are finished you can walk a few blocks down to "Insomnia Cookies" for a warm treat!
Let's be real, this is the only place to get pizza past partying hours. Their pizza is consistent and always fresh. Wonderful establishment. Sometimes has weird flavors but it always leads to a unique experience.
You really can't go wrong with Ian's. Always a must stop when we're in town for concerts or a weekend getaways. Service is always great and we're in and out pretty quickly.
Fun, interesting pizza place right on State St. Lots of WI favorites like Mac n Cheese pizza. Choices for the pizza foodie too; lots of toppings from the Madison Farmer's Market
The pizza is reasonably priced, the service fast, and even the salads can be worth the trip.
This location tends to have a bit more upscale clientele than the one on Frances St. They do a good lunchtime business, and I have been in here a few times for that purpose. Sometimes I get a slice or two, but their salads made to order are also a good bet. You can get a wide variety of items in your salad, and a large selection of different dressings are available as well.
The standard pizza slices, like a pepperoni and sausage are excellent, but I sometimes go for the philly steak, which is delicious. My friends swear by the mac and cheese pizza, but that really is not my bag.
Absolutely amazing pizza, Friendly employees, great building, clean facility. The only downside is when using 3rd party delivery or pickup services, employees don't always have the pizza ready for you.
Wow. I must say I was skeptical of Mac 'n Cheese Pizza at first, but Ian's showed me how some Wisconsin cheese can be put to good use. Ian's is the place to go late night
Pizza is Ok, but it's still better in New York. It's a little pricey, considering the slices aren't that large. The staff that work here, are awesome, very friendly, and mannered.
Handy location fast service. Was pleasantly surprised to see vegan slices offered on a Thursday night (usually only on Monday night). Hope they start offering at least one type of vegan slice every night.
