Ian's Pizza on State Review

As far as reheated pizza goes, Ian's is good due to the creativity and wide selection of slices.

Mmm macaroni and cheese pizza. I go here day before ironman Wisconsin to carbload. Very good size pizza slices

First time trying the breadsticks, they were yummy, especially with the hot marinara. The staff suggests the homemade ranch. Also learned of a flavour I hadn't before.. Cheesy potato. That's what my friend had, it looked super yummy too. The staff was friendly and courteous.

Good pie, large variety of topping choices and friendly folks behind the counter. Everything you need and nothing you don't. I liked it and will return next time I'm in the area.

Kinda intimidating for middle aged plus from the street seeing a bunch of youth inside but the place is quiet and has very good pizza and bread. I recommend doing as I did and give this place a try, you won't be disappointed.

Ian's is a Madison landmark. I believe it is slightly overrated. It features unusual but fun pizzas like the Mac and Cheese. It is a place to try if you are visting Madison but I have not been there more than a couple times. Plenty of other unique pizza joints to try like Maria's in Oregon.

Ian's pizza is always amazing - specifically the mac n cheese. However, try it after a night of libations and you'll be giving it 6 out of 5 stars.

Consistently a good slice. Variety, some unique options. Love the spicy Hawaiian and the buffalo bacon ranch pizza.

I personally can't eat the food due to allergies but my significant other loves the pizza here. :)

There can be long waits and a contentious atmosphere around bar time. Otherwise, the place is pretty easy to get in and out of.

I think I might be too old to hang out here anymore, but when I was in college, this was my jam. Mac and cheese pizza is one of my Top 5 foods, hands down. You just can't go wrong. Their other combos are amazing, too, I'm sure - but the mac and cheese is a cult classic. It's a must-visit when we are back in town for football games.

The pizza was great, but the wait wasn't. There was some confusion around different lines for salad vs. pizza and then the line for the registers. There wasn't really any signage directing where to go. The staff was awesome, though, and were totally working their butts off for the lunch rush.

Good food and handled a large group of about 60 is a very short time.

The pizza is ok. It's nice to have a joint that serves by the slice but be prepared for very long lines during the lunch hours. This place is consistently voted best of Madison for best pizza but lets face the facts, is just reheated pizza by the slice. It's good but not best.

Good quality pizza and salads with a Madison vibe. Slice sizes are generous so you can probably get away with one or two.

Location makes it nice for visiting the Capitol or one of the museums just off the square.

The Mac n Cheese pizza is one part comfort food and one part after bar pick me up.

I was visiting from out of state & the place my girlfriend & I were originally going to eat at was too busy. We decided to try this place because it was close & we were freezing. The people taking orders were quite rude. I had tried to ask what each pizza was & the woman walked away. We tried to order breadsticks after our pizza order & we were ignored. When getting our pizzas the man just threw them on the counter & didn't say what they were confusing several people waiting.I got the chicken buffalo as it was the only thing I knew for sure & frankly it was awful. It was lukewarm & the sauce on it was terrible. My girlfriend said the mac and cheese pizza was pretty decent. I got a piece to replace the travesty that was the chicken buffalo. It wasn't nearly as busy when I ordered the second piece yet I waited double the time as opposed to the first two pieces. The mac and cheese was decent & I was thankful to actually get hot food. I do not ever plan to come back & would not suggest it to anyone else either.

Having lived in Madison my entire life, I can whole-heartedly say that there isn't a better pizza place in this city than Ian's. The whole atmosphere, the staff, and of course the pizza. So many options that you will never be sick of it

Love love love this place! Even though they are known for their amazing pizza, Ian's salads are incredible! Whether I'm grabbing something to go or swinging by after a night out, Ian's never disappoints!

Awesome selection of Pizza by the slice! I devoured a Mac and Cheese pizza. Thin crispy crust, large, super cheesey! You can't go wrong. I wish I could have tried all their slices. They looked amazing. From the BBQ chicken to the Taco pizza. I could have spent all day. The slices are pretty filling for $4.

Classic mac and cheese pizza still as good as i remember

Very good crust and huge variety, I took off the buffet but personally I would like it served fresh and hot. I dont know maybee you can do that. I was a little confused by all the variety and what exactly to choose. Best would be to go with someone who is a regular and have them prep you on what to get and how it works.

Quick, fast, delicious! Great salad bar. Great company with a wonderful vision. Employees are treated well, and are very friendly.

Order their 12-inch pizzas it's perfect for two people it's under $10 vs the single slices ..great stop for a quick bite. Great friendly atmosphere the staff is always waiting to help. You can also eat outside too

Weird combinations, surprisingly good!

Great Pizza! Very reasonably priced. I usually buy a small with a couple sides and have left overs for a couple other lunches. Delievery drivers have always been promt and curtious. Love this place. I also live that they offer smaller portions in case i would decide to just order enough for just one meal.

Somewhat overpriced. Diverse selections but constantly having to run the gauntlet of panhandlers to deal with dirty tables brings the rating down a bit

It's okay. Hipsters overrate it or diss it. Their pizza ranges from pretty bad to pretty good, definitely better if you've had something to drink.

We love Ian's! It's one of the best local pizza places in Wisconsin. The slices are huge and come with all kinds of unique toppings. Our personal favorite is the macaroni and cheese pizza! You can't go wrong here. There is really something for everyone. Everything is homemade and amazing. The staff is also fantastic as well. This is a Madison highlight.
