Rooms are above average. Nice beds, but pillows were really thin. Small bathrooms with no vents, just a window. Breakfast is ok, no sausages or bacon though. Parking was $20/day with in/out privileges. Pool is really small, maybe 15x20 feet.

There are both pros and cons to this hotel, hence my middle-of-the-fence review.

PROS:
1. Breakfast is included. And the entrees are standard with a few changes around every 2 days. There's always egg, some kind of meat (either bacon or sausage), and a starch (french toast or potatoes). Other dishes include miso soup and rice, along with cereal, toast, oatmeal, and fruits. I appreciated miso soup in the morning because I had a bad cold on the first day of my trip. And instead of the starch for the entree, I got the rice to compliment the eggs and meat, which is what I would eat at home.

2. Close proximity to the beach and Kapiolani Park. Kuhio beach is about 2 blocks away, and Kapiolani Park is about a 7-minute walk. We happened to be in town during the Okinawan festival at the park, so it was convenient being close by.

3. Clean rooms with room to move. I was in a party of 6, so I was afraid there wouldn't be much room to maneuver in the guest rooms. I was wrong. The first room we had (because we went to Ko Olina in the middle of the trip) had lots of room, even with the fold-out sofa at the corner of the room. And with the balcony, there was plenty of room. The second room had less space with the sofa bed, but still manageable. It also has a balcony.

4. Cool Japanese toilets. Yes, the ones where there are bidets and seat warmers. It's just missing the music.

CONS:
1. "State of the art elevators." They may be new, but really slow. There are only 2 elevators, and there aren't any indicators as to which floor they are located.. so a minute waiting feels like 5, especially when there's a line to get one. The hotel did have a letter as when it'll be more difficult to get an elevator. At one point, I ended up just getting on regardless of the direction because it'll eventually had to go to my floor. If you're closer to the ground floor, or the 3rd floor where breakfast is served, take the stairs.

2. Layout of room with ocean view. I guess something had to be compensated. In the first room with ocean view, the bathroom essentially had no privacy. There wasn't a wall that separated if from the rest of the room, so it felt really small. In the second room, the bathroom did have a separation, but there was partial ocean view. So pick your poison when deciding.

3. Pool. Extremely small. Besides, the ocean is literally down the street. No need to go to the pool.

4. Small driveway and parking situation. The incline of the driveway to the hotel is narrow and steep. Also, self-parking is across the street. We opted for valet, and still did when our rental car was badly scratched and dented. The valet staff were professional and did the paperwork that the rental agency needed.

In conclusion, if you're traveling in a large group, especially with kids, staying at this hotel may be a good option, especially with breakfast included. I believe the Hyatt took over this building from another hotel company, so though upgrades did occur, more improvements can be made.

It was a great experienc. The wife and I had the time of our lives. the only bad thing I say is that it might be a good idea to step up security cause there was this little girl that keep following me and my wife around on the 14th floor.

NOT right on the beach, but nice. About a block away from the beach. Very clean and secure. You need a room key to make the elevator work. Great service and kind staff. Delicious breakfast with large variety. The pool area is quite small and surrounded with blank walls with no good view. The concierge was great and helped us easily book two tours for the island. There is a Domino's Pizza downstairs attached to the hotel, but if they won't deliver directly to your room. You have to go downstairs and pick it up.

Room are adequate, though a bit on the small side, efficient with all the necessary amenities. Staff has been wonderful and accommodating. However, do not stay for the views or the pool, it's a city view with a small and underwhelming pool deck area. Just a block from the busy beach area and a few more to shopping if that is your cup of tea.

Clean and nice but our room was very small. I think we got the basic king size room because I'm on government business. Staff was very friendly. I thought for the area the rooms would be larger. A bit disappointed being that it is the Hyatt.

Valet parking was pricey $30 per day and the only other parking available is $20 per day.

Great stay!

Great stay!
Economic choice if you are staying for a few days.
Breakfasts are satisfactory but please only expect average food quality and simple choices (considering the price, hey it's free breakfast so no complaint)
Rooms are always clean and tidy, very comfortable bed.
Free tea and coffee, room with balcony.
Staffs are super friendly and very helpful.
Excellent location, close to everything, there's a ABC store (supermarket/convenience store)right next to it so you can get pretty much everything from there.
A bus store 1 min walk away.
In total it's a great stay and cost friendly.

Car valets were quick in about five exchanges, which is very important in this area -- all Waikiki hotels essentially require valet. This hotel failed to recognize a $30ish dollar waiver for parking for DOD/Federal government that they had posted previously for a seven day stay (~$200). The hotel is located near the end of "the strip", so it's easier to get into and out of than other places, but a little longer walk to downtown.)

They had a very friendly staff and were very accommodating. It's right down the street from the beach and it's a pretty kid friendly beach. Being in Waikiki it is a great place to experience Japanese and Hawaiian culture. They don't have microwave ovens in most rooms though which was a little disappointing.

Tiny rooms and just wasnt impressed at all, the carpet is disgusting and the rooms are dingy. The price is cheap and thats the only reason we stayed there. Probably the cheapest place to stay in Waikiki so I guess you get what you paid for. We didnt spend much time in the room other than to sleep so it was ok. The breakfast is free and really good so that will save you some money.

Service is great at the front desk, but the elevators are slow if you're on a high floor (17th) and if you get there at check in time (3pm) be prepared to wait at least 20 minutes to drop off your car at the valet. Earplugs don't help when they start using a piledriver at the construction site next door at 4am.

It is a general hotel.
It does not face the beach and will walk to the beach.
Because it is a little away from the center of Waikiki
It is not convenient at all.
The lobby was clean and clean with warm proof.
There is also a sofa where you can take a break.

I would NOT stay here again. Not a good reflection of Hyatt quality. Small rooms. Extremely SMALL patio... good breakfast buffet but in a very windy area... cant relax... small pool. Just did NOT feel like a hyatt at all. I was VERY dissatisfied. Also, the elevators took forever and were very slow. I think they need two more elevators. The only thing good about this hotel in my opinion is the breakfast buffet. Many options. Just the overall ambiance of the place almost felt third world... not sure why hyatt bought this building... needs some work..

This is a good solid place to stay. Rooms are nice and look to be recently updated. I didn t see any of the common signs of wear and tear you spot in most hotel rooms.

This hotel is still top of my list for places in Waikiki for this price point, but a few complaints warrant the minus one star:
the bathroom (shower and toilet) is excessively small. You practically have to get in the tub to close the door.
the guest room doors are super loud when closing. One door on my floor (16th) is so forceful and loud it shook our room. Doors have automatic closets, but a few are just gnarly loud and shake the walls.
breakfast is your commonly average hotel breakfast. Nothing outstanding, but decent enough, especially for kids.
the coffee is Seattle s Best. A real shame because Hawaii literally has some of the best coffee in the world. Not sure why they would serve some mediocre Seattle s Best when they could be serving Kona coffee from the Hawaiian Coffee Company and keep it local.

Other than that, the place is nice, welcoming, and they don t get in your way. I liked the ability to text the hotel for any questions or needs that made it so easy. We also really enjoyed being able to borrow towels, chairs and beach toys from the front desk.

There is also a great, classic Hawaiian style breakfast place ion Lemon St behind the hotel. Highly recommend for the legit Hawaiian experience!

Great hotel in many ways, close to everything, great room, good breakfast, good cleaning etc. BUT the so-called Security Deposit which they draw on just over 2000 SEK is not paid back if you paid it with a debit card. At the hotel in LA, the back was paid directly to check-out but at Hyatt Place Wakkiki beach it has not been paid back after just over 6 weeks despite I emailed them several times, hence only one star.

First of all, the breakfast was absolutely great and the main reason we would for sure return. The room was small but clean with a comfy bed. Location was great. Only complaint is my AC was set to 68 but the room was still warmer than my place when set to 78. Was still alright to sleep in

As a category 3 property, the Hyatt Place Waikiki ...

As a category 3 property, the Hyatt Place Waikiki is the most affordable Hyatt property available in Waikiki. As you can see from the attached photo (my view of the Ocean) the Hyatt property is about a block or so from the Ocean and the main strip Kalakaua Avenue. However, I feel for the price, the Hyatt Place Waikiki is a good value. The rooms are clean, updated, and relatively large for the price that you pay.

The bed was very soft and extremely comfortable. I do however, prefer firm beds so, it was a bit too soft for my liking. But, I'm sure there are many people on the opposite end of the spectrum who will love the bed. My wife and I partook of the free breakfast buffet, and I liked the selection available.

I will be staying at this hotel again in the upcoming month for an activity in the Waikiki area. Given the balance of price, room quality, and decent location, this is a hotel I could stay at regularly when I have business in Waikiki.

Currently here. Location is good - about two good blocks from Waikiki Beach. The property itself is about what you'd expect - ok rooms, some (not many) of which will have views of the ocean. Wifi went out for about 12 hours a few days ago and got a canned "we're working on it" response multiple times. Today both elevators were broke - not sure how long - but had to walk down 9 flights of stairs. Front desk eventually got the generator to kick in. But since we're here in Waikiki, it's hard to complain. Still, things like elevators and wifi should work. All the time.

A lovely little venue tucked away in the eastern end of Waikiki. Less than five minutes to the beach and close to a lot of the main attractions. Building is a little older but they did a good job modernizing it. Breakfast buffet included.

Very disappointed in this hotel. The pool was closed, guests were given a towel and expected to go to another hotel a block away. Rooms are old and overall appearance is rundown, not the type of Hyatt standard I was looking forward to.

This was a great place to stay! The staff was very friendly! Our house keeper said "Aloha" every time we saw her. I think her name was Lea.?
A breakfast worker named Sonia spoke to me every morning! I had to give her a hug on our last day and felt I was leaving a friend!
The only thing I can say to make our stay better, would be to add more elevator s. The 2 were always busy! :)
Other than that, I highly recommend Hyatt Place!
Oh, the rooms were very clean and the food was excellent! 2 blocks from the beach and 1 block from the ABC store, I visited often!

Excellent hotel close to Waikiki beach, it's clean and staff are polite. They have a concierge desk to help setup activities like surfing, para sailing, ATV etc. Due to pandemic, breakfast is served in a takeout bag, it's a sausage sandwich, fruit, yogurt, boiled egg and muffin. Coffee and tea all day, and so are beach towels. Restaurants are within walking distance, perfect place to walk or jog early AM.

This is a great hotel! I love the location.

The rooms and amenities are nice but the staff is really what makes this hotel great.

I travel a lot, and over the years I have learned that if you leave something at a hotel, chances of getting it back are almost none.

I left THREE things at this hotel including a charger and my coat. Mrs. Heidi went way above and beyond to get my things back to me! Thank you Heidi!

I was super impressed when returning to the Hotel when I walked in and Heidi greeted me by name, then also greeted my business partner by name! What a incredible employee!

Everybody is so friendly and helpful, I would recommend a stay at this hotel to anyone!

Hotel is within walking distance of the beach. Rooms are clean and modern. Full Breakfast is included and tables are in open air area. Parking is $35 a day. Private lanai is very dull and ugly, but could be more inviting if it had flowers or plants. Hotel is close to everything in Waikiki.
