Good steak place. The outside look of the place looks outdated for me but the interior looks nice. We were a group of 11. Having a big group, we were seated after approximately an hour and a half. We occupied a private space at the second level which was a treat because we have privacy. The steaks and starters are great but the kid's meal are not the best. The French Fries are saltier than it should. Aside from the steaks, I personally liked the stuffed mushrooms and the calamari with a hint of spice. Service is regal and above my expectations. It was an overall nice experience that added texture to our family vacation.

Good environment and good service , reminds me of going over to Grandma's for supper, but the quality of food isn't what's to be expected from a steakhouse. Butter and mashed potatoes a bit to sweet for my taste and the soda tasted almost sour? Definitely expected more from a steakhouse but not the worst experience I've had at an establishment.

The service was excellent. I ordered my steak rare, and it was cooked wonderfully. We also shared multiple apitizers and they were all amazing. The service was unmatched. I don't think my drink was ever empty for more then a moment.

This is a cute little rustic steakhouse. We called to see if we needed reservations, but were told they weren't busy on Monday. We arrived and they were extremely busy, so we sat in the bar and watched one person running around doing everything. My husband had the large Prime rib and said it was fantastic. I had a top sirloin which was dry and overcooked. I had the au gratin potatoes, which were loaded with onions, undercooked and had no cheese, this may be the reason that everyone around us was ordering baked . They had a wonderful table side salad and we had the spicy shrimp, which were extremely good.

We ordered 2 filet mignon, one well done and the other one a little pink. Both came out raw, blood in the plate. Mashed potatoes were cold. For the Amount of money we spent, terrible terrible meal.
Will never go back.

1st time here. I chose to sit downstairs in the bar area. The lighting was good, not bright. Blues playing in the background. Almost real cozy atmosphere except for those bright color televisions. None or maybe some black white tubes would have been better. -
It wasn't crowded and the staff was nice. Service was prompt. The bread and sweet butter was fresh and warm. The salad came out promptly and then the main course which was Peppercorn Top Sirloin.
Price wise it kept me within the budget since I didn't spend money for food at the airport. - The potato was good, not undercooked or over mushy. The sauce to the meat was interesting. The meat was very average. I've had better at some of the buffets I go to. That's why only 4. I think that a steakhouse should be able to do better. It tasted dry and was a bit stringy. Bad cut I think. I did eat it all.

While visiting San diego, I ordered a top sirloin steak from Hunters. The pic showed a juicy steak but what i got was a dried out piece of meat cooked to death....and a boiled potato that I didn't order. . The steak had no flavor or seasonings, salt, or pepper. Medium well was tough to cut and chew. There was no medium in this steak. Potato was an insult to injury. Never again. Ill stay with Outback next time.

Food was delicious and wonderful atmosphere. Even with the restaurant week rush, it felt like the wait staff was handling it pretty well albiet a little slow. Only recommendation is if you want wine you have to ask for a menu and there is no beer list ( but there are some on tap).

Service top! Food was terrible. I chose the NY Strip and wanted this medium-rare. The steak was then well done, which is a no-go in a steakhouse! Potato stick was also inedible! Too bad, as the atmosphere of the local promises more.

I really wanted to vote this higher because I loved the staff. They were very down to earth and the steakhouse itself is set up really nicely. The steaks were just a bit gamey for the price. Great mixed drinks and potato wedges though!

The cajun lamb chop appetizers are melt in your mouth to die for. The NY strip steak was cooked to absolute perfection. Due to virus they had outdoor dining which was really wonderful. I didn't have reservations so we had to wait only 20 minutes so not bad at all. Location is so close to everything.

Worst seafood linguine i have had in my life. Not sure if there was an inexperience cook back in the kitchen, but they didn't't reduce their wine sauce properly and ended up getting a bowl of pasta swimming on wine. I'm sure the steaks may taste better...but dont put pastas if you cant cook them well. I didn't even eat my plate

Superior service from the bartender 'Sampson'! Had the exceptionally tasty standard cut prime rib....holy cow (no pun) that was an extremely delicious dinner!! Enormous portion of rib, side,
and extra side. Would definitely return here if my journies brought me to this area!

One of the Greatest Original
Steak Houses left in San Diego is
Hunter's Steakhouse. It's the same as it was 30 years ago and that's definitely a Really Good Thing.

My husband and i had the porterhouse Steaks and their Infamous Au Gratin potatoes loaded with flavors of onion and bacon. My Steak was perfect as asked as was Jose's. Fresh steamed broccoli and baked potato for him.
Fresh baked pumpernickel bread with real butter stared us in the face as soon as we sat down.
Up next was our house salad tossed at the table with carrots, sprouts &mushrooms for me and cucumbers, onions, cherry tomatoes, croutons and fresh cheese towered Jose's plate with a perfect vinaigrette.

The picture of just the steaks on the plate was our leftovers from a 18oz. Porterhouse we each had and we had steak and eggs for breakfast.
The other pictures show our to go orders we got the following week.

This is a treasure still found in its original spot nestled off the 8 west directly across from DMV Mission Valley.
One of the very few Great Steak Houses left in San Diego is Hunter's

Prime rib was what we came for and it didn't disappoint. Well seasoned, and "real" meat unlike some restaurants which serve a processed tasting prime rib. Au gratin potatoes are amazing and I enjoyed the tableside salad bar with a yummy honey mustard which tasted homemade. I had originally done 4 stars mostly because our server was a bit sickeningly sweet and the decor is older and dark feeling, but that was probably too harsh (it's more like 4.5plus) and I'll change it to 5.
