I liked the food! I had the ribeye while my husband had the prime rib. The ribeye lacked a bit a seasoning but overall great food. Why the 3 stars- the staff! Like the staff would rather do anything else then work. The host counter had 3 people at the same time and I swear they rolled their eyes but put on the fake smiles when they sat us. The waitress didn't pay attention to the the whole table and only accommodated to my husband - he got the refills while I had to ask twice for mine. The only staff on top of it were the busboys. You can see they were trying to clear as quickly as possible to fill more tables. Yet were still very polite and took empty dishes away while we continued dinner.
We will go back for the food but make sure to be patient with the staff because they can ruin your experience for eating out.

Steak, seafood, drinks, ambiance.... Always a great experience!

I ordered the Filet Mignon and asked for blue cheese crumbles on top. I got blue cheese dressing instead, lol, ok. The steak was okay, nothing memorable. The inside is very outdated. Probably won't be returning.

It was great! I haven't been here in a while, and it was better than I remember. The staff was great from the hostess to the waiter. Great food, great drinks, loved it and can't wait to be back.

This is written the first day restaurants were due to open. All of the staff wore gloves and mask the entire time. The tables are spread out for distancing. The only thing I noticed is they didn't have digital or disposable menus, but I think that's the only thing they didn't follow. If they still don't have the correct menus, just try not to touch and wash your hands - no big. And tip big! Support our San Diego family.

Great food and service. Always a pleasant experience

The staff was very friendly and professional. We are never without a drink and although we came at dinner rush we didn't wait to long for a table or our dinner. Our meal came as requested with the steaks perfectly grilled to desired temperature although it seemed that my medium ribeye was lacking seasoning the other two steaks at the table (both filet mignon) were devoured as served. Either move was a fluke or I definitely ordered the wrong steak. In either case, this was a great evening and I am glad we chose to come to Hunter Steakhouse over any other steakhouse. I'll be back again! :)

Arrived with a party of 7 during restaurant week we were seated almost immediately the Ambiance was fantastic the service was speedy the food was phenomenal the waitress was pleasant as well as attentive was a great experience I would definitely return

The service was excellent. The steaks were cooked exactly how we asked and delicious. My wife had the filet and I had the whiskey peppercorn top sirlion. We both liked mine the best. Great first visit.

Prime rib was decent. Missed the mark on medium rare and cooked it medium. Place looked dark and classy. Waitresse's mood slowly improved over dinner.bus boy compensated for her early lack of enthusiasm. My Friend likes her steak gray throughout and it took three tries. The cook came out to check on the final time. He was very courteous. Carrot cake was dry but still tasty (ask for milk) Overall I liked it. I'm a tough rater. I don't hand out 4 stars(great) and 5 stars (wow/awesome)are rare. I recommend this place if you have a Groupon or your tired of other places and want a change of scenery. No military discount for AD/vets.

Would give zero stars. We went in to have dinner, the young people waiting to seat people acted like we were not welcome. So we left and went to outback steakhouse

Worst service I ever had. The Host didn't greet my Wife and I until we approach them. We sat at our table for a half an hour and the waitress never took our order, we sat and watched three other groups get seated served before our order had ever been taken. So we walked out, and doubt they even notice. We won't not go back

The service was also second to none. We had dinner here our first night in Hollywood. Great location, excellent steak and superb service. Would recommend.

I hate to say it but we were very disappointed. We ordered the steak, serloin. It was the worst steak I have every had in a restaurant. The restaurant needs a overhaul, a an intervention. Our service was excellent, the salad was delivered very uniquely. Good. I was very disappointed by the quality of the food. Too bad to. Because when we like a restaurant, we recommend it and return to it. Shame because it does have potential. Great location and with a good dusting a quaint place. Sorry but someone needs to let them know they aren't fooling anyone.

One of the best steak dinners in SD. Ribs are fall off the bone delicious. Loved the table side salad bar!

Great food not as pricey as I was expecting! Think red lobster entree and dessert prices. Prime rib was delicious. Kids menu is great! And it has a nice feel not pretentious. Kind waiters.

I was out of town on vacation and went out to eat I went to the steakhouse. I was disappointed with the service and it was particularly bad that I wrote a letter to headquarters. I got a fast response and an apology a gift card for dinner anything I wanted from soup to nuts everything was covered. I was back at home and went to the local restaurant. They didn't know who I was when I came in to eat not until I went to present my gift card. The service was outstanding and the quality of the food was superb. That was a few years ago. So you might want to give them a chance and if you're not happy let them know which is something you should do anyplace you eat or do business. I also will reach out and tell somebody when I feel they're doing an outstanding job.

Great staff and steaks were excellent. One of great old steakhouses in San Diego. I promise you ,you'll leave feeling full .so be ready to eat to your hearts contents.

Best prime rib around, awesome service, and a full service bar. This is the place to be.

It was okay, could've been more presentable, cooked great and blue cheese was perfect.

My buddy and I met here to get some prime rib. As soon as it was delivered to the table a motorcycle hit my buddy's parked car. We went outside to take care of insurance and police business. When we came back in, our food was gone...because they said they didn't want us to eat cold prime rib and they were going to bring us new cuts of meat when we were ready. Above and beyond service!

My daughter and I ate here twice. It is next to our hotel. The food was wonderful and the employees were friendly. I enjoyed the salmon.

Perfectly cooked steaks (filet & NY Strip) with great flavor! The menu had wonderful options that were reasonably priced. Service was incredibly friendly and attentive! We just wish we had one back home.

The food is top shelf. I had a medium rare prime rib I cut easily with a fork. The au jus and horseradish sauces we're superb. They get 3 stars for the service. It took nearly 30 minutes to get drinks, and only then were we informed that one of the drinks was not available. The food took another 30 minutes to arrive and the order was incomplete. It all came eventually, and was all delicious. My only gripe is the service.

Ok, but seems a bit past it's prime. We had a sort of odd experience while there, nothing terrible just awkward. The food was good.

This establishment was a big surprise for us. We honestly only went there because we accidentally got off the freeway needed a place to turn around and it looked pretty good and we figured we were in before the Friday Night Rush. Our entire party was very surprised with the quality of the staff quality of the meat and all food. The place may look a little rough from the outside but well worth giving it a try for a great meal and a good time.

Service is always super even when they have a full house. I had a cousin come into town and asked me to take him back here.

Our waiter Lenon was friendly and helpful. The prime rib and rack of lamb was delicious.

Where to begin...seated downstairs in a musty room with a view of the backsides of bar patrons. Waiter was extremely unfriendly. Offered no specials nor even his name. Silent refills on the sodas at the table was probably the highlight of the experience. Asked for potato skins with no bacon and no chives in the sour cream only to be told that they didn't carry sour cream??? Oh, yea, we do have it says the friendly waiter after debating the validity of his statement. Service was slow as a 2-top table who sat after my party of five was served before us. Ordered a ribeye and I can only assume I was given a strip as there was no fat on it whatsoever. Also, never seen a "12oz ribeye" and while the NY strips came in 10oz and 14oz sizes. Our favorite part of the experience was when a skunk odor took over the dingy downstairs area we were sat in. Nothing more appealing while dining at a steak house with friends and family whom you haven't seen in a year than that smell! Waiter said it happens often. Maybe you should hire an exterminator rather than ruining everyone's dinner? Just a thought. Needless to say, none of us will ever go back nor recommend. Went elsewhere for dessert as we couldn't wait to get away from the server and the skunk smell. $200 down the tubes.

This place is ok. We ordered Tbone steak and it's a little bit tough. Other than that it taste good

Staff was really friendly. Food was good nothing that stood out. Seemed to be better in the past but nothing wrong this time around. I would go again when visiting the San Diego area.

Great place to eat with many great choices for appetizers, salads, seafood, steak, prime rib, and dessert. We ate here for dinner on Sunday, January 26, 2020, and sat at a cozy table in the bar next to the fireplace. Welcoming, friendly, efficient staff. They had a special menu for restaurant week that my husband ordered from that included a choice of appetizer, salad, entree, side, and dessert all for $40. I ordered Jumbo Beer Battered Shrimp and Shrimp Cocktail from the regular menu. All the food tasted exceptional and we had a wonderful time. We will be back again soon!

This was the best food we'd ever eaten in any restaurant! The filet mignon was too absolutely die for it was just like A Little Piece of Heaven. Our family really enjoyed the time everybody got something different and then we all share the mudslide at the end. It was just the most wonderful experience the Ambiance is beautiful the service was just absolutely impeccable I would advise anybody to order anything on the menu it's beyond good that's great XOXO Onna I'll try to find the pic and post it.

We started of with awesome bread, then moved on to amazing appetizers, then for my main dish I ate the best BBQ ribs I have ever had. I had a perfect experience at this restaurant. Also our waitress Ericka, was really cool.

I ordered the filet mignon, it was excellent! Very tender, very fresh, cooked exactly as I ordered it. The bar area has a nice fireplace and cozy atmosphere. Staff were friendly and very on top of things. We didn't wait for very long for our salads and then our steaks were timed

Service was so so on this visit. Some food was great, others not so good. Usually order a better cut of steak, shrimp cocktail, strawberry cheesecake - along those lines and food is always great. This visit I ordered the $23 sirloin four-course meal. I do not suggest it. Stick with their classic menu for a five star experience. Atmosphere? Needs replaced flooring and upholstery where it stains but otherwise a nice place. We always visit twice while vacationing in SD.
