Great place to adopt a furry friend! Love volunteering here when I have time, and the foster program is great as well!
I was there today seeking information about my grand-puppies that were taken from my daughter in love and son. Toni who work Animal Intake was assisting us with all the questions we had. As we were talking ,Field Agent J. Hackney entered the building and immediately interjected himself in the conversation. Once Mr. Hackney could not explain why a proper investigation was not conducted, he stated to us that he would call the police and say we were trespassing. This could not be true because Toni verbally invited us in the building to talk. I questioned Hackney about his willingness to tell a lie on our family was overwhelming. The fact that we are black and he is a white male in Ann Arbor and was willing to involve the police with a lie. Terrifying and scary! I am on the fence in this climate where black people are being murdered and thrown into prison without thought.
Very kind, friendly, and helpful staff and volunteers
Very friendly staff. Animals treated very well here. I even saw a couple of employees taking time to play with the animals that we're sheltered alone
Great place nice and clean put new floors in animal intake
I had the best interaction with HSHV. I came back to my house, and found an injured bunny in the yard. We immediately called HSHV. Within 10 minutes I received a call back, and in another 10 a very helpful bunny-catcher was at my house! I wish I caught his name. The bunny was saved- we think it had a broken leg. 10/10 experience.
Poor communication skills and rude staff.
They never answered the phone when I called. I have had to wait up to an hour passed my appointment time.
Very modern and clean. New kittens show up on Thursday. Great even if you just want to walk around and look at the animals!
My daughter is a JV here. We adopted a cat here. We attend their special events every year. Safe to say this is a great Humane Society that cares about animals! They also have small pets
Purchased a wonderful cat at this place. I paid extra money for them to place a chip in my cat, inquire about updating the chip info since it's been a few years and I wanted to make sure the chip info is current. Well, too bad. They "switched over their systems", apparently without bothering to backup any data, and told me they lost a bunch of data when they switched to the "new system." They had no record of me, my cat, the chip...nothing. The woman put it on me to have these records, not knowing I had a house fire and lost everything...."don't you have anything with a number on it?" and I replied "Don't YOU have anything with a number on it? That was the service I paid for." She just plainly stated that they lost data in the "switch to the new system." I told her I was a doctor, and when I switched to my new system, I thought ahead and, you know, backed up the data. When I asked her if that was done, she had no answer for that.
I'm not happy that I paid so much money for the chip and the surgery thinking one day I might lost the cat. I literally remember asking them if they kept the records so I didn't have to when I got the cat initially; I was told yes, that's the whole point of the system. And so to have them tell me nonchalantly that, oh, by the way, that info we said we'd have, well, we switched systems and we don't have that data. So sorry. They'd do well to not lose such important data.
Cat came back on it's own, and I've since learned that they just install chips...they're not really responsible for keeping records like doctors are. The actual purchase of the cat in 2002 went smooth as silk, and could not have asked for a better experience. It's just that 15 years later, when I called on them for the service I paid for, I was more or less just told "too bad. Hope you find your cat."
A great place. We love our new dog that we adopted from here.
Our family has adopted from here twice. Both times we found the staff to be helpful to us and caring towards the animals. They continued to be helpful even after we got our pet home, helping to provide follow up assistance on behavioral questions.
Love this place! Just got an amazing dog that the whole family loves! Lots of choices.
Pretty good vet clinic and the proceeds are going to the Humane Society. Can't go wrong.
DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS TO THEIR CLINIC!!!!
I just took my 5 month old puppy into their vet clinic to get his nails trimmed because he has a training class tonight at PetsMart. When I called and made the appointment this morning they reminded that he had a Lepo shot due next week but that I could get it done today if I wanted, but Allen the person on the phone, strongly advised against saying it could make him sick to get it early and since he has a training class tonight to really not get the shot today.
I agreed and took him in to get his nails done, they brought him back out not even 5minutes later and told me about his shot and the side affects, when I stopped the girl and said he wasn t getting a shot today and she told me they had already given it to him. She then argued with me saying that that s what his appointment was for when I told her that he was supposed to get the shot next week and he only had a nail trim for today. They hadn t even done his nails which is what the appointment was for!
So they took him in the back and very quickly trimmed his nails, and did a HORRIBLE job, they completely missed several toes because they were rushing to get us out of there because of their mistake.
Do not trust this clinic with your pets, they don t care and don t read the charts before taking an animal back. We got lucky that he didn t get anything worse done.
Fantastic place to care for your furry children. The clinic care was phenomenal! Highly recommend it!
Butterscotch is having a great time and she is a complete angel! Thank you for making my little guinea pig so happy with her new playmate.
A worthy organization & great place to adopt a pet!! You can leave donations in their front lobby.
I volunteered here with my office. Very organized place, and awesome decoration. The pets all seem very well cared for. I would love to adopt from here one day!
Can I rate zero for this place? Awful place! Unreasonable charges, bad treatment to my furry families. NEVER EVER take your pets here for vet purposes.
We visit every year and donate. Animals are well cared for and employees/volunteers are very helpful.
I recommend going there to get your they are very polite
Best Humane Society I've ever visited. Great program: the animals seem to be well taken care of, the people working are helpful and nice, and they are fast about placing animals in loving homes. They have a "meeting" with every family before adopting a pet to go over the pet's history, needs, etc. Good system!!!
We adopted our cat from here in 2016, and it was such an easy and care-full process. We can't imagine our lives without her now :)
A month ago we came across a stray cat that got injured in our area, and they took him in and brought him back to health. We love that we are able to call them and check in on the stray cat - that processes is so special and allows us to make sure he's doing okay and if/when he will get adopted. Thank you for all you do!
Wow was this place way cleaner than I expected! Some of the staff kinda stared at us instead of saying hello but they probably don't see too many black people in there - a look of shock and wonder! The gentleman volunteer greeted us at the door warmly and the ladies at the desk were very sweet and respectful. We've nevet owned pets so I was looking for s volunteer program for kids. They do have one but the kids have to be 12 so we can't participate. We had fun playing with the cats anyway!
I took my dogs here for training and also spay/neutering. Very satisfied!
Amazing staff with an an amazing facility. Adopt from here.
They took good care of my dog while I was away at the hospital. Much
The staff and the vet doc was friendly they were so helpful I would go back again.
Took my dog Trinity here for an emergency spaying and the service was excellent. Everybody was so nice and got things done in a timely matter. I will be taking her here for now on even though its a nice 35 min drive its well worth it.
I adopted my kitten here. It is a well run facility, offering many services to the community.
One of the best places to adopt a fury friend , their kennels for the pets a clean and made very comfy for the fur babies
They tell us who we can go in there and take our animals but they don't step in walk-in audition set it on the phone and told us that they take them that is just wrong
Awesome place! You can go and visit the animals. We adopted three great dogs from here.
Everytime I go here, I have a pretty good experience. I've brought pets in to get fixed, which they had a promotion going so the price was so very reasonable. I brought pets in for various other things and the doctors have always been helpful in treating my animals without adding on anything unnecessary. I feel cost wise, they are great. I love how they have events for getting your pets license renewed at a small fee with shots. It helps make sure the animals are taken care of properly while being mindful of affordability. The staff always take great care with pets. I have a cat that is terrified of everyone and everything she doesn't know and they were so gentle with her. The only complaint I have is on one occasion I had called in regards to a friends cat, and since he didn't have a lot of money I asked if they had a payment option to pay some now and make payments later, to which she said yes, but when we arrived, they told us they only ever do that for animals being euthanized. So there was obviously some confusion there but other than that one time, every visit has been helpful.
They are wonderful caring people for pets a great place to take your pets to get them taken care of properly never had a problem with them
They take fantastic care of the animals. Can get a little crowded.
Dropped off some extra supplies I had that they can use. Love looking at the animals they all look well cared for and healthy.
Very clean. They also have a Low Cost Vet Clinic and a pet supply store section here.
The people here are extremely nice but I can not get over what my family and I experienced there. We were gonna adopt a nice dog that just came in a few days before. His name was Bobby. We fell in love instantly with him. However on the day we came to pick him up he was given to another family few hours earlier. We were next in line and even confirmed the night before we were gonna come in the morning for him. My Mother and I were extremely upset and unfortunately because of this we are never gonna consider adopting from here again.
The vets are very knowledgeable. Very extensive in examining the animal. They are not pushy for you to have unnecessary work done like many places. They were very patient with us! We love them and we will be back.
Awesome and warm-hearted staff!!! We got Boba, who s rescued all the way from Thailand.
thank god for this place and all the doctors, volunteers and employees who work at the is shelter. they also are a 'non put down shelter'. We have taken our cat there and they were wonderful with Mr. Finnie.
We also have recently adopted a beautiful cat named Fuzzy. Thank you Washtenaw County Humane Society for everything!
Very very disappointed in the vet process of refill on my dogs prescription I left message to have filled in time allowance before 4pm on Friday May 30 to be surprised it was never called in now mind you it's an antidepressant that they called controlled they gave me the run around all Sunday morning to come up to the clinic to find it still not filled there and spend 30 minutes waiting to have them call in to my pharmacy 30min away she has now missed 3 doses so tell my why an addict gets treated better than a scared dog I have never seen such abuse in my life toward an animal you suck
Clean, big, friendly staff, seems like they treat the animals really well
Very welcoming and friendly environment. The staff is super knowledgeable about the pets and willing to answer any questions you have. You can tell they do their best to find the right home for the animals in their care.
Have gotten several pets through here as well as used vet services and rescue services. Friendly staff and clean well organized facility.
Sweet puppies and kittens,we got a new fur baby today.
I recommend the staff an facility to make sound decisions in welcoming your new addition
PLEASE READ THIS!!!!!to make a long story short , I arrived in ann arbor with pet dog, missed connected on housing , in process on getting housing I went to the Delonis Center they refereed me to Huron valley humane society for harbor of my dog, ( none adoption housing for pet whose owner is in housing crisis) I took my dog i n on fri. 3pm( so I would have a bed in the Delonis shelter,) I went back Sunday 9am to see my pet. He was standing in 6to 8 piles of his feces, they said occurred over night!!. they did want me to take him out of the cage, I did any way he was panic struck. there made me leave the enclosed area and wait for a dog walker, who arrived quickly , I walked with my dog and the walker, she seemed nice, concerned. my dog asked for water, which I gave him . he was so frantic for water he nearly coked.the dog acted as if he had not had water since I left him there on Fri afternoon. THIS IS HUMANE? I asked when his cage had been cleaned they said yesterday.I know my dog he does not make that much hag over night. they say the dogs are walked 3/4 times a day.that was not what was reflected in the condision of the cage and his need for water. Even though I am being humanely housed at the Delonis Center working on a hopefully short term housING miss connect ,my dog is being kept in filth with out suffice to water. I would let him stay in that place if there was any other choice. This a ongoing situation as of 7/8/18
My dog has been kept clean groomed and lovingly cared for for the 5 years I have had him,I am enraged at how I found him!!!
Amazing place to visit. Staff is super friendly and the animals are adorable! Also they are super ethical and spend enormous resources on each and every animal to be safe and healthy.
These vets and staff are fantastic, helpful and loving.
The people there are kind, compassionate, and personable. For a job that is one of high pressure (emotionally), and often stressful (and when it's not, I'm sure can border on tedium), these folks, a lot of them volunteers, are respectful, professional, and caring individuals. From the clinic to the cleaners, each has a desire to serve not only the animals under their care, but the people that walk through the door.
Thank you, HSHV. The work you perform is appreciated.
As a former volunteer and a person who found the most wonderful car at HSHV, I can truly say it's one of the best shelters around. They are extremely caring and take wonderful care of the animals. It's fun and easy to do fundraising for them as well, the ease of it was really inviting.
Dont buy a pet at a pet store.....adopt an animal from here.
I love going in and hanging with the animals give them some loving they need
Really friendly information about everything too help you I trust them with my family
The very best animal shelter in Michigan very compassionate people very loving I try to support them anyway I can I took my cat there to get some shots l they got me in and out no problems very very good people I can't say enough about this animal shelter I would give them a 50 star review
I adopted two animals from here and they both died within a year of having them one died from bone cancer which they would have known considering how much it progressed through her body and the other unexplainably died wasn't from old age either it was a young kitten I'm starting to wonder what type of business they're running.
I do volunteer work here and what they do is amazing. They do so much to care for the animals its astonishing.
I would 100% recommend trying volunteering here to help them out. 5 star review.
Great staff and volunteers. It's a no kill shelter unless there is no other alternative.
Great facility. Friendly staff and well maintained.
Curb side vet clinic ,super efficient. Friendly, nice, helpful.
Where I adopted my Love Train puppy Finn in October!
Were on top of getting our kitty returned to us. And helped out with getting her microchipped so next time we'll feel safer on her chances of getting reunited with us.
My cat that I adopted from the Humane society had a really bad and really obvious tooth problem. It was fixed by them when we mentioned it but even just the doctor visit cost a good amount of cash!
Very nice building and the staff were amazing. I love this place!
Modern, friendly, clean, well organized. They clearly care about the animals.
