Adopted many dogs over the years from here. Great place. I also go for my veterinarian needs.. shots and medication. They even handle nail trimming. Also DNA test kits. Everything I've experienced has been at very reasonable prices and go to a good cause. Highly recommended. Great people.

I don't where all these positive reviews are coming from because you and yours staff are miserable to deal with. You're not god's gift to the earth, you work to help find dogs homes. Spend 5 minutes in here and you'll be running for the door.

I adopted my amazing doggo from here and it's also where many of my friends adopt fur babies. They are really friendly, helpful, and caring. They make sure all animals are spayed/neutered and refuse to declaw cats so they are amazing....pics of my doggo

We had to surrender our beloved Oliver last week, there was no judgement and we were truly heartbroken, my husband called at least twice a day to check on him and the staff was so kind, Oliver was adopted in less than 5 days and we hope he has a loving forever Home with people who will love him as much as we did, I keep checking hoping to see a hint of how he is doing but with the adoption policies I am.sure he is right where he needs to be, Thank You!

I was given an ultimatum by the secretary that if I didn't adopt two bunnies they would kill one of them because she was sick. I took them both home and later found out they didn't give me the correct medication for the bunny that was supposedly NOT sick. She ended up passing away in the middle of the night. The bunny that they said they would kill, later Survived Cancer! She is happy and perfectly healthy. I wish I could say the same about the other. Rest in peace Cinnabun.

Loving caregivers and volunteers. Rescued animals which you are encouraged to meet. Great activites (we went to Halloween trick or treat). Adopted our older cat Lexi here. Went to kitten day but meet a sweet cat looking for a "furever" home.

I took my Cindy Lou because she was really skinny they ran blood tests on her gave her some fluids, and gave her some special food. They were so kind, but unfortunately I had to bring her back two days later they did x-rays and she was full of cancer. They let me take my time saying good by comforted me while i cried my eyes out, and gave me a box to bring her home to bury her because I didn't want to have to but her back in the cage. I have two new babies I am going to bring in to have shots, spayed an chipped. The people at the clinic are so compassionate. They really care about furbabies and their parents. I would highly recommend them and the prices are great.

Staff was very friendly. Cages, places and most important ALL ANIMALS were very clean and well taken care of. Layout to adopting/ visiting an animal was not layed out in the best terms. However...the amimals were all spoken for very quickly the 2 days I did go... So it does have adoption rate = Awesome work !! Highly recommend going to check them out if you are interested in a kitten, cat ( which is 5months +) . or the adorable dogs and puppies. They treated them all like royality which was very pleasing to see.

I LOVE HSHV. I always beg my mom to take me their to see all of the animals and how they are doing. The day I turn 12 I am going to apply to volunteer, my mom is going to Foster in February! My dad and I are looking for a puppy that is under 8 months old, and is not a pit bull, but I don't know why he doesn't like pits.

Love it they have love train where puppy's come in every 2 weeks and I love how they have small pets like hamster guinea pigs rabbits etc. I feel bad for the older hogs like bossaloni. Someone please adopt them!

Nobody cares more for animals than the HSHV. Always glad to work with them and adopt from them. I've loved seeing this shelter grow from when I was a kids into the beautiful place it is now. Thanks for all you do, you make a world of difference.

This is the place to go when looking for your next best friend. They are the leaders in animal welfare and it shows when you visit their facility. So many other organization can learn from their example. They also have a great TNR program with many volunteers.

This is an amazing shelter! I have volunteered here and they care so much about their animals and treat them very well. It is an incredible place and they are always very kind, respectful, and caring. There are always animals who need a home and this humane society takes such good care of them until they can find their forever home.

Awesome shelter and vet clinic. We adopted a puppy from here a few months ago and I have been taking him to the vet here too. From adoption up until now, with all check-ups and vaccinations, everything has been great! Everyone who works/volunteers here is friendly, knowledgeable and they truly love and care for the animals. They are also accommodating and on time with vet appointments.

We recently adopted our puppy from here and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. We're first time dog owners and every has taken amazing care to give us advice and to offer us clear expectations. We've been to the vet quite a few times with our little guy and the team has been fantastic. I couldn't recommend them enough.

We found our sweet kitty Puck here. The place is huge and gorgeous. There are so man to volunteers! They dogs and cats seem happy here knowing they have a safe loving environment to be in while waiting for their forever families. They have a large yard area with a paved sidewalk where the volunteers walk them. Thank you for adding to our family by 4 feet!

They do so much good for the community and I love this organization. However, we adopted a dog 2 weeks ago and they refuse to give us flea and tick medication, even though the dog was a current client. We have to meet the vet and they refuse to get us in until mid-June. It would be easier to buy a gun or crack for goodness sake. Flea and tick season is bad and our dog has picked up four just on normal walks etc.. They are seriously jeopardizing the health of our poor dog due to making us jump through some nonsensical hoops for basic care they should have given her at her annual check-up.

I guess I don't live on the right side of town. I left a message they did call me back right away. I was told there is a $100 surrender fee because I didn't live in the area. I don't know if this is a standard fee since this is the first shelter that I called. I called them because their star rating was high. She asked if I called someone in my area i said no should i? She told me i should and would give me the number. In the middle of me telling her why I chose their shelter she just transferred me to another number that went straight to voicemail. Horrible customer service.

This place is absolutely AMAZING! They are kind and thorough. They take their time, they explain everything, they show compassion and go above and beyond. When the time came to make a rather tough decision with my oldest pup, they were so kind and showed so much attention to both he and I. They even sent us a card, that everyone signed, to include his Doctor, Dr. Julie. They even included his paw prints. While it was not the easiest thing to go through they made it the best possible way to experience this unfortunate event. They still take care of my other two pups and I will always recommend them. They have a beautiful facility amd wonderful staff. Thank you for EVERYTHING HVHS!

I visited this location and a couple that was in front of me looking at a dog one of the workers grab the dog to bring take it to a room for the couple but while the worker was walking it down the hall the dog was whimpering and crying be cause she was choking the dog with the leash it was on its back legs the coupl looked at me and had a disgusted look on their faces and so did I also saw another worker kick one of the dogs with her foot to get the dog in the cage I went and reported it to the front desk and they basically laughed at myself and told me their workers wouldn't do that this place needs to be investigated for animal abuse this whole place is rude and unprofessional

Love what they do but they don't really cross check their lost animals on their own website to animals that come in. My cat got out of the house so we provided our information to HSHVs website right away. Our cat was ultimately captured by them and fell victim to the Trap Neuter Release program. Luckily he did find his way home after being released but was infected badly. He was a pure Bombay that we bred, now he's fixed.

A well run facility and great place to adopt both dogs and cats. My only complaint is the kennels are smaller than some other facilities like cascades in Jackson. Still, the staff is friendly and clearly love the animals.

Kennels are clean and pets seem as happy as reasonable in a facility of this type.

If you're looking for a new furry family member, please adopt!

These people are doing the Lords work. If I ever win the lottery I am hooking them up. They saved my dogs life and were there for me when my cat of 20 years had to be euthanized. They even sent me a condolences card.

Absolutely great experience with the volunteers and staff at this facility. They obviously care a lot about animals and making sure they get into safe and happy homes. I would highly recommend this shelter to anyone looking to find their next furry friend! I met my dog Ginger there and I m very excited to bring her home!

We called today about bringing in an injured raccoon we had trapped in our yard. We got a call back that we could bring it to the shelter for help. Let me tell you about the great experience we had while we waited our turn to be seen. Wonderful, caring and professional staff fielded a number of animal related phone calls, dogs were being walked, surgery animals were checked out to a recovery volunteer and rescue kittens were brought in. The raccoon we brought in was taken and the trap cage was returned to us cleaned from our scared and snarly juvenile. If you ever want to have your faith restored about kindness, go visit the Humane Society. I wish I could recall all the names of the people we saw in action today. They are there seven days a week and they all truly make a difference for the animals they receive and take care of until a forever home is found.

After serious issues with follow-up care, the clinic manager called to apologize and assist us with the financial cost we incurred. I greatly appreciated their follow up and will continue to bring my cat to see them.

They've a Bowls Program for low income where you get a ginormous food bucket n treats for your pup. Also know that they've many critters available for adoption. Better to rescue than support puppy Mills & worse. Fabulous n caring stay & volunteers. Worthy of donations.

They charge $185 for children to be able to volunteer. This is the ONLY way a young person is able to volunteer. This is just wrong. I am sure it is a great program, but it is very exclusionary. Yes, you can apply for a scholarship if you are not able to afford it. But seriously, we need to demonstrate that we are poor enough not to pay so we can go VOLUNTEER? What a great life lesson to teach my little girl. Gross.

We adopted a pup from HSHV, a wonderful experience...

We adopted a pup from HSHV, a wonderful experience. When you go to look for adoption animals, the process takes a little time. Reception can form a line, and there aren't always tons of volunteers in the back to assist you with retrieving pet friends to meet. This was only a note of how important it is to VOLUNTEER at your local animal shelter. Their volunteers are AWESOME.

When we met our now-dog initially, the volunteer who brought her to us was outrageously knowledgable about her behavior. Once deciding to adopt, we were put through a consultation about how to take care of our new dog - options for vet care + pet insurance - moods, habits, everything. Highly impressed, you will not be sent home with lack of information.

I know it is tempting to find a specific breed of animal and purchase it, I honestly get the appeal of choosing what you like. But being able to look into the eyes of your animal everyday and know that you brought them into your home, and out of a stressful shelter environment.. that's the gift that keeps on giving. I highly encourage adoption as it is rewarding in every way.

We have adopted here a couple times and always been a pleasant experience. Often times Humane Societies are rinky dink and run poorly but this one is always well staffed and always has a wide range of choices to adopt. They offer excellent resources to make sure the process is seamless. They also have a great vet clinic that can help you with pet care.

Recently our family member Sassy (cat) laid down and never woke up. The Humane Society was so gracious and respected the fact that my little girl had lost her best friend. We took Sassy to be cremated and the ladies there were so helpful and comforting. We are in the process of moving & cannot wait to adopt a pet from the Society. Thank you :)

I can't say enough about this place they are the BEST place to adopt a pet, to see a vet, get your pick fixed, get shots, follow ups, questions, ANYTHING!! The vets and clinic staff ROCK!!

On behalf of Tigger, Kali, and Xena Daley we want to say THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING, AND GOD BLESS YOU!!

This past December was the first time I adopted from this Humane Society and it went very smoothly. The staff is extremely friendly, patient and well-informed. They made sure I was completely prepared to bring Sylvester (my cat) home and have been a great resource, months after the adoption. Fantastic shelter!

It's just about the money not about the good of the animals how many pet's are put down because people are sick and tired of the leadership is getting Rich off the disposable lifes that most people can just not afford to subsidize the un caring money grubbing people in charge of the organization worrying about only them selves and there greed

Brought in a lost kitty in our cat carrier. Kitty would not come out so we left him in the carrier and were told we could pick it up later. After calling for a week straight and receiving no information/no one picking up, we went to the shelter only to discover they gave away our cat carrier! It was a nice blue and pink one, and there was nothing they could do except replace it with a used one of theirs. In addition, when we went to browse the adoptable cats, the workers were pushy about us choosing a kitty without meeting it outside the cage, and it was hard to get any time with the kittens because of the number of child volunteers.

There are other shelters out there that will help a family choose a cat that will fit in with them, rather than having them picking a cute kitten that will be less shy when you bring it home , even though they ve only been around humans for a few days.
