Hula Hut Review

Hula Hut is a great place to go if you're looking for a place to eat out on the water. It's related to Chuy's so they have some similar items and the atmosphere is nice.

Food is good, but not great. The austintini (martini made with all local ingredients) is fantastic. The reason to come is the atmosphere. If you want a restaurant on the water this is a great choice.

Been coming here for a decade or so. Wonderful atmosphere close to downtown. Love the views of lake austin and the food is great!

The food and location were fantastic but our server forgot my son's drink and then never returned to check on us after the food came (except to quickly drop the bill and then leave again) I would come back for the food/location, hopefully the server was just having an off day.

Hunter our waiter was great!! Despite having a couple large tables, he was very good waiter!! Food was also great

Food and drinks were good, but menus and tables were dirty. Place needs to be bleached down. It had such a laid back feel that it took our waiter 15 minutes to come to our table and take our drink order. The young waitresses had shorts so short that it you could say it was inappropriate. I didn t bring my wife and mom to see this view. The sunset view was amazing.

I love their shrimp enchilada! My fiance and I like splitting the plate and we get full quickly for a cheap price.

I loved the salsa and chips it was mildly spiced with a bit of acid. The portions are large. Location is great off the lake. With a very friendly staff.

Because of its location, we often forget to go to Hula Hut, especially at Christmas time. I'm glad we made it in this year. The portions are really great for the price, there's jalapeno ranch and a good drink menu. The food itself is a little bland, but good quality. It's kind of like eating at your mom's for dinner. Nothing to write home about, but you're still not upset you did it. Great place to bring people from out of town when you're wanting a big menu to choose from at a reasonable price.

Good food but way to long of a wait for my table of 10. They send texts when your table is ready.

Great location right on the water. I've only been here for work functions and the food and drinks for these were good.

Try the fried avocado appetizer! Great kid friendly location. Food is good and reason able priced. Poblano cream cheese quesadillas are great too.

Decent grub but they have this signature drink that served in a fishbowl, which is pretty cool.

Many fond memories of this place. It's great for a casual drink with friends or blowing off the work day. Being by the water is really relaxing.

We just had a drink by the river. The plastic sheets were pulled down blocking the view and there were quite a few flies. There is no beer on draught. The chips and salsa are good, the queso was good and the service was fine.

Hula Hut is one of my favorite restaurants in Austin. They can definitely get extremely busy, but that's because they always serve great food and have amazing service!

Love this place. Hula Hut offers a great view of Lake Austin while dining or having a drink on the pier. I usually go with an enchilada. The chips and salsa are great.

Food and service has really gone down hill. I will not be returning.

Can't beat the location and the food is a good Mexican fare. I would prefer that it caries some Polynesian dishes (is there anywhere in Austin that does?) --something that goes with the "Hula" theme? Come here for drinks and views of the lakes, but make sure you have a full evening-wait times can be extensive.

The view is nice, but drinks were terrible. Maybe worst margherita I've ever had in 70 years. Very unclean, but busy.

Huge enchiladas! Very tasty ! Cocktails were average. Great pricing. Chips and salsa are pretty good. Scenery is pretty as its sorrounded by lake Austin!

Seated right away. Waited over 30 minutes and never had a server to take our order. Asked one waiter as he walked by our table and was informed very rudely that he was not our waiter but he would tell our waiter we were ready to order. Waited another 15 minutes then got up and walked out. No smiles or concern from any of the staff. Will not return.

Get the ribs! Great service to go along with great food.

This was a great choice of restaurants! The waiter was great fun, the atmosphere was upbeat, and the food was delicious! We had a GREAT time! Definitely a "do again"!

It's ok. We went there b/c of the veterans day special. I would have enjoyed so much more if it wasn't for a waiter who served us. Such a bad attitude! It actually made me lose my appetite. I want to assume he was having a bad day. Ordered a margarita but it was heavily diluted, shame.

Good drinks. Service was poor. We had to keep flagging our waiter down. We had to ask for refills and other drinks. Could have been a lot better.

7/11/20 service was horrible, from the bar tender s to the people that brought out our queso and not to mention the server. You would think that in the middle of a pandemic these employees would be trying to get the best tip possible and thankful that people are even going to there place of work. Won t be coming back at all, I ll visit the Oasis next time.

Ordered take out during the week and I was the only customer in the place when I got there. Very generous with portions. Only wish I could have prepaid and had them bring it out to the car.

I ordered the Mahi Mahi and it was VERY good. Hands down, would recommend!

Prepare / expect for the wait.
Check your gratuity on separate checks especially in large groups.
20% standard tips no matter how the service performed.
Food was good nothing to brag about.
Plenty of unused seating areas, customer attentiveness very poor , especially for those waiting for tables.
No offers of drinks or seating areas to wait comfortably.
No one directing traffic to empty slots for specific restaurants or cars backing out of slots.
Kinda like if you don't like it oh well.

the food was okay but the service was terrible we are still sitting here and my wife ordered the fish salad the salad came out 20 minutes before the fish was brought out and we had to complain that we never got to fish for the salad

Fusion of tex-mex and Polynesian might not sound like it would work, but this place really pulls it off. Great location on the lake, including outdoor dining over the water.

Really nice atmosphere! And the bartender (ninja) is the best!!!! Will definitely come back!

Awesome place. Tons of seating with some fantastic views and everything I ve had on the menu over a few trips has been great. I recommend sitting on the water if you can!

The food is always awesome and the service is usually top rate but today, service was a little off. We were needing more chips and we asked two different people before our server finally came by to see how we were doing and I had to stop her and ask for the chips.

This place is fun and cute. The Hawaiian theme is great. Quite a bit of seating inside and the wait staff was nice. There is absolutely nothing Hawaiian on the menu though. Maybe a couple slightly Polynesian dishes and a Polynesian barbecue sauce but outside of that don't expect any authentic food from the islands. But the food was good. I had the coconut shrimp and fish tacos and both were pretty good. The shrimp was better than the tacos. My friend had the fajitas and said they were pretty good. Looks like they had some fun and quirky menu items. I will probably go back and try other things on the menu when I am in town. Looks like a fun place to go and hang out for drinks although I was there at lunch.

You can t beat the view with this beach like feel. Perfect spot for afternoon Lunch and drinks. Good prices and Quality

There was food stuck to the menu. The high chairs were disgusting, i chose to hold my kid because it was so gross. The food was of the caliber of some alleyway street food culinary abortion. I am appalled and will not be returning. Oh and the service was nothing short of terrible.

Good food and fun atmosphere. Save room for coffee and dessert at Mozarts next door!
