Stopped by Hugo s for a date with my soror and had a wonderful dinner. The service was excellent. I highly recommend the crab cakes and the fillet. The gravy for the mashed potatoes was an experience all by itself. We had a small mixup with our entree and our server bought us dessert. How nice was that? Word to the wise - it was super busy when we got there (Saturday evening) so do make reservations and get there on time.

Kellen the best setver/bartender I have ever met. He bring class, service and hospitality all into one when he serves or waits on your table.

The food is amazing as well!

Tip your waiters please!!!

Beyond extraordinaire! Absolutely love this place. I will absolutely be back. The best cooked steak ever eaten. Absolutely love the loaded brussel sprouts. The crab and avocado appetizer was amazing. I'm telling everyone I know that they have to visit this place when they come to Chicago. If I had room after the meal I would have tried their desserts. But their slice of cake is like a quarter of the cake. And they're not your mama's apple pie could probably feed three people. I told my wife we would come back just to eat dessert lol

I had to push one star but really this place don't get a half of a star. The services suck they have nasty dishes covered up with clean dishes. The food is nasty as hell. Everyone come sit in there but order from Gibson stake house. I would let my dog eat at this place

The restaurant was nice. The drink menu is longer than the food menu which is always fun! Salmon was just right. They also have their own brand of a mixed blend seasoning salt available on every table, it s definitely a must try.

Excellent food. You will always know that you will have excellent service with generous portions. Servers are knowledgeable of the menu and are very courteous of customers requests. The decor is much like an elegant fishing boat. It's great for corporate dinners and family meals.

Easy standby in the area with standard seafood and steaks. When business clients are in town Hugo s is a crowd pleaser. Can t go wrong! Try the filet and oysters which are fresh and perfectly cooked to order.

Get the full on Chicago Steakhouse experience in a more casual environment. Steak and seafood are excellent here. Desserts are top notch, but remember that one dessert can feed 2-3 people!

The restaurant is located in a trendy upscale neighborhood. It was full, but wait time was reasonable. Staff was very attentive, and professional; old school charm. One of the Managers was so attentive, and polite; he made sure we were well taken care of. Food was delicious, well prepared, and nicely presented. Will go back whenever I visit Chicago.

My daughter and I dined here late on a Wednesday evening!

We ordered a selection of oysters, and both had the strip steak dinner.

It was perfect! Our steaks were cooked to perfection, the mashed potatoes were a huge portion, excellently seasoned, the garlic spinach was to die for good. Waitstaff was far above par. One of, if not the best, dining experiences we have ever experienced!

I will definitely be back, every time I'm near Chicago!

Smith and Wollensky is a must try if you are looking for a great steak house with a unique experience. There are two floors to this restaurant. The upper floor consists of the bar, indoor seating (with no river view) and outdoor seating (very minimal river view). The lower level is the more desirable seating option. If you are booking a reservation for a special occasion ask for the lower level seating that is closest to the windows for the view. This is the most scenic view where you get to watch the boats pull into the Chicago Winery on the other side of the river. In terms of food the steak is pretty good but what stood out most in the meal has to be the cup of bacon . This is an appetizer option that is a must try! The bacon is this lean beef bacon that is made specially just for their restaurant. The bacon is so good that it will make you think all other bacon you have previously been eating is fake. This is how bacon should always taste like!

Best Fish I ve ever had. Hands down the best service you will ever experience (Simon and Andrew). Frog legs, clam chowder and sea bass makes for the perfect meal. Halibut is also excellent, but nothing compares to the sea bass.

Went back to Hugo s last night after a great time there last year on trip to Chicago. Again we had a ball with wonderful food, drink, and service. Our waiter, Kellen, was one of the best I have ever had. Kudos to him.

I would recommend to try when it is not a prime time such as Saturday night and you would probably have a better experience. After being over a half hour late on our reservation we were offered a pub style table or to wait longer for the dining room. The pub table wasnt bad for our party of 4, but was a bit cramped by one side and a friend was constantly getting rained on by food coming from staff setting up trays to bus tables right next to him. We had 2 servers but still multiple minor issues with forgetting things like soups (which we never got), beverages, and boxes, plus being interrupted twice as much to be asked the same things as if they weren't communicating with each other.

The food varied, crab cakes and escargot were delicious. Otherwise soggy fries with the fish and chips, ice cold rice with the grilled shrimp, poorly cooked whitefish, and also odd presentation with the fish as nearly whole, barely grilled and mostly uncooked vegetables were included but fairly inedible in any kind of practical or appetizing way.

Obviously patience is required in a popular city spot on the weekends, but this was a bit disappointing for what was supposed to be our treat night on vacation and consumed our entire night since it took over 3 hours for the meal.

Warm and authentic decor and atmosphere. Knowledgeable and prompt staff. Fresh and well prepared seafood. Extensive wine selection. Don't forget to start with the frog legs! Highly recommended.

Great service and interestingly enough it was the only place without a wait at 10 pm on a Friday night. I'm not big on seafood but the people I was with enjoyed their oysters and fish and chips. I did slurp down my first oyster and it wasn't bad. I ordered the baked potato which was meh, not really quite baked. But I guess don't order baked potato at a frog bar!
