Quite possibly the best happy hour around. $1 oyst...
Quite possibly the best happy hour around. $1 oysters!!!
Quite possibly the best happy hour around. $1 oysters!!!
Amazing food. Great for those with celiac, as most proteins and sides can be made gluten free.
Nice atmosphere...friendly staff...very overpriced ....
What a delight of place! Excellent atmosphere, delicious food, first class service, good atmosphere. Really, whether you have a craving for meat, fish, seafood or a delicious dessert ... this place is the option and if you come with friends as best.
Definitely one of the younger people in the crowd but treated me like the others. The halibut was incredible!
Front of the house staff was awesome. Servers were even better. Topped off by fantastic food cooked by excellent chefs. We will absolutely be back.
We love, love, love Hugo's! It is definitely one of our favorites in the city. Gibson's menu available...The best!
Wonderful, delicious food, incredible staff and service. The decor is super funky. The portions are huge! Best crab cakes I ve ever had! Shockingly, they made me love the Brussels sprouts too (the bacon could have something to do with it). Everything was cooked perfectly. I will definitely be back!
Walked in at 730 on a Friday without a reservation and the hostess got us a table in 5 min. We ate like kings and were treated like them. Great service, great food, and fresh seafood. Such a great spot. Chicago staple.
A bit too loud to have a conversation, but lively and casual ambience and nice initial bread. Restrooms were manned, with chocolate and body lotion, hair spray, mouthwash.
Excellent place to dine King Crabs and fish or good cuts of meat.
Every year I visit it and it maintains excellent food quality and service.
It is worth visiting this place if you are in Cicago.
Classic Chicago always good with impeccable service.if Hugo's is booked go to Gibsons and vice versa. If both booked, go try your luck at the bar, always a place to sit for 2 eventually
Steak Slider was excellent, but Valet Parking was too costly. They should at least validate part of it. Stick to the subergs.
Food was excellent. Enjoyed ourselves right until the end when we closed out our $80 tab with cash. The bartender pocketed some of the money and then told us we didn't put in enough money to cover the bill. Will NEVER EVER go back. Just got scammed.
This is usually a scheduled stop for dinner when visiting Chicago. But, my experience on Saturday, March 25 was horrible. They smashed our group of 6 into an area where there were probably 2 or 3 tables of four too many people. Our chairs were constantly being bumped by guests and staff. If was so loud we could not have a conversation. We complained to the manager and asked to be moved but, they could not do that. I'm sure that the set up of the tables was a fire Hazzard. Thank God there was not an emergency. Food was great. But, could not enjoy it. Next time I am in Chicago for business , I will been looking for a new favorite place to go.
Amazing sea food! Huge portions, perfectly cooked. We will be back!
It was ok. Side dishes of broccolini, squash, and Brussels sprouts were ok, nothing to write home about (I actually didn't like the broccolini). Steak was good, but for $60, I expect that. Dessert (apple turnover with vanilla ice cream) was excellent. Overall experience was just ok, but because it's a premier restaurant, the value was just not up to par
Fun spot in a great area. Not much available for vegetarians. I ordered a veggie only plate and it was very basic. Not much flavor. My brother had the fish and said it was just "good". Nothing to write home about.
Food is so good...and our server was super attentive. Can't go wrong...and combined w the Gibson's menu...best "surf and turf" around. Always been one of my faves!!
Great atmosphere, amazing food. Great staff, very attentive
I love this place it s one of our go to s when in Chicago! You always know you're going to get excellent food and service! We sat at the bar and the bartender recommended the Chicago cut ( definitely get that). Also, try the frog legs it s so worth it! We also had a great experience with a manager named Adam. Super professional and friendly, and you can see he really cares about his customers and the place. We loved chatting with him! A place well stop at every time we're in Chicago!
Wonderfully prepared meals in a rich romantic environment.
Lots of food served 'family' style for our table. No shortage of food to eat for those that are hungry. Desserts were huge, one carrot cake and one ice-cream cake. Didn't think the desserts were that taste.
Good was excellent.. Servers and presentations were also great
An experience that is worth the price. Service and food excellent.
Oysters are super fresh, but some of them were a little bit too salty. But for the happy hour price ($1/each), oh yes baby! Go for them!
We also ordered Sliders (friend says it s okay), half pork rib (rib is not well cooked so didn t even take a picture), Fried Calamari (love it!) and Escargot (too oily).
Awesome burgers and fries probably the 2nd best I had here in IL. Good for lunch or early dinner. Only other comment is to improve their coffee
This is the place to be for great food and very good service ...all of the food is very tasty ....i have tried several entres ...love the lobster bisque
Great food I loved it here. Use uber code: nglsr I used it to get here for free!
After a horrible dining experience at Gibson's, I wasn't really expecting much from Hugo's.
Even though we had a reservation, we had to wait 20 minutes to be seated, which is always annoying. Why the hell did I make a reservation then?
We ordered the pan fried walleye and another white fish that I can't remember. These came with sides of soup, of which we ordered the clam chowder and crab bisque. The crab bisque was too bland, so I ended up swapping it for the clam chowder.
Service was alright... just overall an average dining experience, and the food was average as well.
Nice but found the staff a bit over the top. I.e. don't force customers to try the specials and get them the wine they order not one that they think is better.
I hadn't been here in quite a while. Decided to treat my son Nick to a nice dinner. First thing he noticed was the service. We hadn't even ordered our food yet and the service was outstanding. We started with calamari. It was fried correctly, crispy coating, and tender squid with lots of lemon slices and yummy marinara. I ordered the medallions. They were so good, cooked medium just the way I like them, and seasoned. So many times when I eat it, the food is bland. Not here, you don't need to add any seasonings. I had a great time here and look forward to coming back.
Craig the bartender is great. Awesome clam chowder!
One of our go to places in the neighborhood. Love to sit outside and watch the world go by. Food is great!
Great classic cocktails, seafood, and tasty appetizers. Go for the formal yet friendly bartenders.
John the bartender was awesome. Great martinies. Great food.
Ended up here because the other restaurant to which we had planned to go was packed. It was a Saturday evening and we went to the bar. The bartender was fantastic and there was something about the old-school charm of it all that I really liked. We enjoyed ourselves so much that I forgot to take pictures. We shared oysters and a few other appetizer dishes. Everything tasted good and the drinks were made strong, which is a plus. It's really the atmosphere that put it at 4 stars. The restuarant was extremely busy (and tight fit between the tables!) by the time we left around 9p. It did cost us a pretty penny.
I had the mac and cheese and it was good. The portions are big. I will eat there again the next time I visit Chicago.
Crab cakes are delicious & the staff is attentive and friendly.
Met our expectations and then some...atmosphere was cozy, staff were amazing, food was perfect...learned if you want right in go early...otherwise you will wait...but its worth the wait for sure. We WILL be back!
Service was wonderful. My stake was well cooked. Love the atmosphere here
Just left here. Dinner was not the best. Our server Brian was m.i.a 60% of the time. Didnt check in to see of the food was okay. My crab legs were SALTY and the filet slider was burnt. My fiance's crab cakes were 60% cake, resembling cornbread stuffing. Terrible. This place used to be good to me, but not anymore. The bus boy was RUDE! Reaching over you while you're talking. Just a mess!
Great service, some food options were not available as they ran out around Christmas. We loved the mussels!!
Hugo's shares its kitchen with Gibson's and you can also get many of the same menu items at both places. It's loud inside and the atmosphere is definitely spirited. The staff is very friendly and they do truly have good knowledge of their products. Be prepared to pay the Gold Coast prices so bring a hearty appetite and some plastic.
Superb seafood and steaks from Gibson's, can't go wrong!
Great service in spite of being super busy. The filet sliders are so frickin good!
Best service in Chicago. Favorite seafood restaurant! And Quasha in the reservation department is the BEST!
Amazing ambience, top notch service, and over the top food quality. Just be sure to make a reservation
Awesome oyster happy hour deal in the Gold Coast with $1 oysters from 3-6 pm everyday. 4 different types of oysters available (2 east coast and 2 west coast varieties).
I love the place in the summer when you can seat outside and enjoy your glass of wine!
One of my favorite dish is the grilled shrimp with butter and lemon sauce!
Had the king crab Cobb salad... Very light and refreshing. Ordered the brussel sprouts and corn sides. Was disappointed in the brussel sprouts as it was over cooked and mushy.
Absolutely one of my best dining experiences.
Waiter had personality, and made us feel we were special. Yeah we dropped $560 that night but felt it was well worth it.
Everybody wants Gibsons but this gem shares that same great kitchen without the wait.
All around good time. Have some wonderful beers and they have a good selection. the calamari was above-average although not the best I've ever had. The atmosphere five stars the food four stars.
Terrible NE clam chowder. Few clams and flour filler. Cold tuna filet. Steak cold and not prime.
There is excellent customer service at Hugo's. The oysters are delicious, the salmon and crab cakes are divine. The steak is heaven. Drinks are perfect. The wait staff are awesome. My guy and I love this place.
waiter said I looked like a swag king and I didn't leave a tip
