Hugo's Frog Bar & Fish House on Rush street is a sister bar and restaurant to the well known Gibson Bar & Steakhouse which is attached next door. They share a kitchen and Gibson steaks are on the menu. The menu includes standard fish and shellfish offerings, flown in daily, along with steak and rib offerings. There service is impeccable. The restaurant is very tight in space and is somewhat difficult to move around in. Our table ordered white fish, baby back ribs and shrimp de jonghe. The ribs were okay, not great. The white fish was good. The shrimp was excellent. The chocolate mousse pie was impressive in size and presentation, although it was too sweet for me. I would pass on it next time. Overall, a great restaurant with excellent ambience. Expect to spend at least $35 per person minimum and more likely $50 plus.

Hugo's remains one of my favorite old school restaurants in the city. Fresh seafood with all of the steaks from Gibson's next door (as they share a kitchen), I've almost never experienced a bad meal in my dozen visits. Excellent service and everything that you'd expect from a top-notch steak and seafood restaurant.

Delicious food, amazing wine list and the desserts ... OMG! We kept seeing them walking past us with these massive cakes and we just had to try one. We got the Muddy Bottom Cake and it was so good but you need about 15 people minimum to eat a single piece!

There is a oyster happy hour every weekday from 2-6. Originally, you can enjoy $ 3.25 of oysters for $ 1. Various wines and cocktails are sold together, and the food varies from steak to seafood. The atmosphere is high in the 80s, and the oysters are fresh. However, the Entre menu has a price.

Went for happy hour during the week (Dollar oysters and half off white wine). It's become an after-work staple for drinks and light appetizers. Usually sit in the bar area which can get a bit packed, even during the week. Service and food are still always on point.

Loved this place, has character but more importantly great food and atmosphere. Staff has been around for a while and knows their stuff. A bit pricey but what else is new in this area of town ($85 with tip for two glasses of wine, dinner entree and a cocktail). I felt like I got my money's worth. Try the shrimp dejonghe, it's pure seafood heaven.

We ate here 7/5/14 and it was the best dining experience we have ever had. We've worked in fine dining as servers for years and are very critical of service and good. The service was top notch- our server Frank was amazing and the support staff was on top of it- filled water glasses at 2/3 full, cleared plates right away. Frank was knowledgable and patient- we dined for 3 hours and he never rushed us once. We got oysters, frog legs, escargot, filet, crab legs, crab bisque, crab Mac and cheese, and onion rings. All were top notch! We loved that the atmosphere was relaxed yet the service was stellar. If you are looking for a quiet, dark, typical "fine dining" experience this is not it. But if you want a fun laid back atmosphere with friendly and quality service, you won't be disappointed!

a classic institution, I felt like I was transported to another time. We managed to go during happy hour, and got $1 oysters. Truly the most incredible flavourful oysters I have ever had. We sat at the bar which just added to the experience. The staff are incredible, the atmosphere was amazing. I would love to go again and try more food.

The service was subpar and the waiter was rude!!! I felt like I needed to be another race to get better service my friend spoke about. This restaurant is too expensive to tolerate being treated badly.

Great sea food and deserts. We sat out front and watched a happening neighborhood at night. I have attached a photo of the mud pie. It s delicious, but it s big enough for 6-8 people! Try to sit out front and see if Eric W can wait on you.

Usually, this place is great. However, they couldn't even bring a hot piece of fish. When the manager came out all he said was "the cooks are doing the best they can". Really? For $50-60 a plate? Paying that much per plate, they should know how to bring out a hot plate of food, not cold fish.

We visited for the Sunday Oyster Happy Hour. It was unbelievable! 5 different varietals of oysters, $1 each, and all the white wines by the glass are half-off. The service was great, with a friendly and attentive staff. Good bread and butter too. This is definitely the best $1 oyster deal I've encountered.

From the initial meeting Mike Avella we knew we would be taking care of. He was very kind and accommodating. We waited a short time for a table outside where we were taken care of by Brian who did a great job. Food was great. This is our new go to when we are In Chicago. Thanks everyone for making our evening great!

Exactly what you expect for a Rush Street seafood restaurant - high quality, high prices and great people watching! Love their pumpernickle raisin bread, huge salads and fresh seafood. Ginormus crab legs and the steak with crab meat combo is a favorite! Hardly possible but worth saving room for dessert too!

3.5 really. Service has gone a bit downhill in the last few years. Entrees come out way too soon and then are left under heat lamps or reheated. They gladly remade the food, but shouldn't happen at all. Noticing poor timing. Just not as professional anymore.

What a great & fun restaurant to frequent! You just can't beat the excellent food, friendly & attentive staff and comfortable atmosphere. Managers John & Ken have worked hard to make this restaurant your new "Go to" place to eat, drink & be merry.
Take a look at their "Slice" of cake. All I can say is come hungry.

Amazing city bar that if you have reservations is a great place to enjoy a fine evening of seafood dining. The calamari is perfect with cocktail sauce and a bit of white horseradish. Amazing. Obviously the steaks are great and any season sea food makes it a very exquisite place to dine. One of may favorites.
