Hotel van der Valk Groningen-Westerbroek Review

Westerbroek is cozy ... better if Zuidbroek is 3x nothing.

Unfortunately had a bad impression, the staff at the desk are very helpful, but beyond that they are all ego trippers, "look at us, are beautiful". The location is next to a N road where fortunately there is not much driving, so that was a bonus, Groningen center can be reached by car in fifteen minutes. Now the truth ... During dinner we were given a certain card (which was offered to us via the internet, which unfortunately did not contain anything.), Which to my horror contained 2 choices including a pork schitzel with bacon or a plaice fillet with sauce. Now that is not so bad at first sight, only I am not a fish eater and I am allergic to pork. After reporting this we were looked at strangely and suspiciously by the staff and the help was immediately taken from us. "We had to eat from the a la carte", normally we had a 3-course menu for 25 euros. Now we heard that they had 8 different menus and they were not offered. It was either my allergy to food or just paying the full price. Easy said. After this we got up, paid for drinks and went to the center to have dinner there. Once back, I slept wonderfully on the beds, only very sticky, the bath was full of lime and was also quite small. Especially for 2 people. Now the last and, above all, the dirtiest point. FLY. Not just any green, blue or black flies, no those brown ones, the little brown flies that settle on everything. The room alone had 12, all of which were flat after a fierce fight. The irritation for the flies was unfortunately increasing. The next morning during breakfast I had the feeling that I was not only having breakfast with my girlfriend but also with 3 flies. They sat on you, on your food, and everywhere you looked you saw you. After my first round, I decided to grab yogurt with some mushli. To my horror it was not vanilla yoghurt but yoghurt a la fly. (See photo) This is of course really not possible for a van der valk hotel. I would not recommend this with any concern. Because you don't have to come for the sociability of the staff and the hygiene is certainly not up to their standard.

We slept a nice night here, really a must. The food was also very tasty and breakfast was good too.

I would rate verything very good. Except that during the morning shower the water got colder and after that we couldn't get warm water again during that morning.

Room was very nice, clean and well equipped (Nespresso, flat screen TV, hairdryer, etc.)

We were able to eat outside of our meal. 1.5 meters distance to the next guest was clearly taken into account.

But when you sit at the table you don't have the feeling that it is busy. The service is smooth, friendly and efficient.
My wife ordered a meal salad, however the dressing is missing. My wife experiences the salad as too dry. She makes this known when collecting the plates. As it turns out, she should have asked for it. We believe that when ordering such a dish, this should be standard on the table. I myself had the snitzel. A lot, but perfect in taste and tenderness. A snitzel is so common, but can easily be too tough. My compliments to the chef, very good with a sauce of your choice completes it. We both had the mustard soup beforehand. Also great in taste.
In short, van der valk westerbroek always has a constant quality, which is sometimes different at other locations. Our advice: just go for a nice meal at van der valk westerbroek. Hendrik and Anneke Smaal from Delfzijl.

Incredibly beautiful hotel! The rooms are spotless, and the bathroom is very luxurious and beautiful. The shower is also very pleasant and very relaxed. The service of the staff is really great. The restaurant was stylish and cozy, staff very attentive, and the food was very tasty. As usual, perfect price / quality at Van der Valk!

Nice hotel, with unobstructed view of meadows and wonderfully quiet (we had the more luxurious room). On the way a lot of industrial activity, but we were not bothered by this. Service: entrance was very welcome, a mistake with the rooms (2 single beds instead of 1 double) was resolved quickly, customer friendly and well. We were allowed to wait for the room and an employee came to us to help instead of having to go to the reception with bags and all. Lovely bath, nice and soft bed, and a VERY comprehensive, tasty and fresh breakfast (including smoked salmon, freshly baked and sliced bread, sweet and hairy, and even the possibility to bake your own pancakes). Free parking at the hotel.

The hotel has a great restaurant with many places by the window. The food is great, nothing to fault. The service is good and the staff nice and in for a short chat if it suits you.

Excellent food, smooth service, alert and the food is very tasty and more than adequate. Definitely worth it, but can be seen in the crowds. Even the breakfast room was convinced to place customers, but they were well prepared for that too. A very good one for another time.

UPDATE; 30 Sept once again and again delicious food and everything more than enough. I was around and I couldn't even eat dessert anymore. Even now, despite the crowds, the service was allert and smooth, and even for a short chat. Good recommendation on my part even when it is busy.

Delightful hotel. Great breakfast and super dinner. And especially now during corona everything is well organized.

Location: I did not know the situation of this hotel. I was therefore surprised to learn that the rooms are 300 m away from the main building. Piece of missed information provision.
Rooms: spacious. Dress in the middle of the room looked dingy and dated.
Staff: generally friendly but by approximation they seem to be very poorly trained interns with little guidance. This was noticeable in the service in the restaurant.
Food: vd. Falcon worthy. That's why two stars.

Been out to dinner with the in-laws. Was delicious.

You can sleep, dine and have a good breakfast there

Very nice friendly staff, we had a dog and they were very accommodating for our dog. :)
