Hotel rooms are clean and comfortable. Staff is helpful. Be prepared for a lot of street activity if your room faces the lake.
We only tested the restaurant and in the middle of August on the terrace so crowded: we took 3 salads (vegan, exotic and from the chef): food for tourists, tasteless industrial salads, a mixture of boxes of vegetables and salads in bags, canned potatoes ... no interest for the restaurant. Quick service, we were pressed to pay ... in short, go your way to the restaurant in summer
Cafeteria prices are a real robbery. 8 euros for a coffee with ice cream and they charge you 1 euro for a glass of tap water. A robbery on a super dark terrace with a plastic roof that covers all views.
Hotel well located, but no parking and parking difficult.
Room ok, but hotel (very) noisy!
Breakfast very good.
I stopped there for coffee only. Coffee and tiramisu was OK and service was fast.
Great location, we had a lake view and spent a lot of time looking out the windows and watching people enjoying life and of course the boats! The hotel is very clean, staff very helpful and friendly, breakfast excellent, evening meal excellent (even if you are gluten free). Ice cream parlour attached to the hotel was SPLENDID, that s obviously where the hotel name comes from!
Tried the bar. Fantastic cocktails and the waiters all very nice, very kind and very prepared ... One better than the other!
Charming old hotel, but hotel room walls are so thin we were asked to stop laughing in our room at 10:30. So we whispered the crest of the night. Had to go to the reception desk to ask for air con. Small lift, breakfast was average. Bathrooms are toooooooo small. Sitting on the commode to wash your hands. Staff was very helpful and thoughtful.
Not that cheap as prices, but food ain't that bad. Very nice view.
The beautiful Hotel Excelsior Splendide with waterfront balcony in the heart of Bellagio. The town is alive! We drove up here from Como and took the car ferry across the beautiful lake to this waterfront hotel. Beautiful. Our second time here. It called us back.
Unbeatable location on the lake and servive was excellent. Food was reasonably priced considering this is a tourist hotspot and they could easily charge more. Had a lovely time watching the ferries come in and out while we ate some tasty food.
Lovely place, great service and impeccable cuisine. Experience absolutely to be repeated.
The view is wonderful but the meal was really far from what you should expect to this price. The rissoto wasn't cooked, the pana cotta was the worst i have ever ate.
Location wonderful ... breathtaking .vista wonderful meal
Speaking of the bar, great service and excellent ice cream cups, the pizzas also looked inviting
Class! Food served with raging cutlery with taste and unforgettable appearance!
Nice and quiet considering the location, the pool is small but in a great garden type area.
We checked in looking for four relaxing nights at the end of a busy five weeks touring around Europe prior to our twenty four hour journey home. We had a reasonably pleasant lake-view room with which we were initially very happy. But what we hadn't counted on was the live music outside our window until midnight (management claimed until 11:30). We got an apology and an assurance from management that it was on Saturday night only and there would be no more during the week. On Monday night the music came from the bar next door just across the street and still outside the window. When we complained that there was still music the answer was that it wasn't our music and by the way it would be on again tonight!! If we were thirty we might be out there enjoying it but as the whole point of our stay in Belaggio was to relax this was totally unacceptable. We demanded and finally got a room change -accepting a pokey little room much smaller and nowhere near the quality of the room we had paid for.
The hotel is a bit tatty; if everything else about the place was OK you might be able to see this as part of a quaint character but it is rather indicative of a hotel that just can't get things right. Our new room has an air conditioner that rattles so much as to be unusable and a sloping ceiling which means you have to duck your head in some areas - particularly the bathroom. WiFi is intermittent at best but usually nonexistent and the promised English-speaking TV channels are unavailable. As for the breakfast offerings they are quite meagre and unappetizing.
During this trip we have stayed in hotels in Austria, Slovenia, Italy, Croatia, Montenegro and Bosnia-Herzegovina. All have been excellent; none as disappointing as Hotel Excelsior Splendide - surely a deliberately ironic name.
Very good location, rooms clean. Enough staff, but unfortunately too busy with himself. Breakfast in the cold room, but eggs and ham not earlier than 8 o'clock with hardly drinkable coffee. At night in front of the hotel very loud. Parking is just a disaster. Price / performance ratio is just not true. W-LAN only in the hotel lobby, if at all. Pity ....
We had a lovely two week holiday here in June. The room was on the third floor with a Juliette balcony which directly overlooked the ferry terminal. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. As it was our anniversary during our stay, we were given a lovely bottle of champagne to enjoy. Thanks once again to all the staff.
Good pizza amazing
Villa of georg clonni 600m away
The most beautiful place to have lunch along the shore of Lake Como. Food was fabulous and very reasonably priced.
Elegant and luxurious place I did not stay but looks great
Historic hotel with stunning location, excellent services. Recommended
My pizza: extra-salted pasta. Tomato sauce: sour. Judge for yourself.
We didn't stay in the hotel, but had lunch in the restaurant. Food was excellent and the views stunning.
The bar staff are amazing always friendly and professional, the local cocktail was amazing a mix of local herbs with a little detail flavor of fresh lemons accompanied by a Diavola pizza ... A must come back place
Speaking strictly about the bar outside of the hotel. The place seems inviting and the prices fair; however, the staff was deplorable. After asking if and where we should be seated, the lady behind the bar hardly answered and tossed her hand to suggest we sit. After sitting and waiting to be helped for a good 10 minutes I signaled to a waiter that we would like to order. Not only did he make eye contact but his collegue also pointed out that we needed attention and he still ignored us. We waited a few minutes to see if he was just getting something for another table but instead we could see him standing by the bar. Needless to say we got up and left. Would not spend money at a place with staff this rude. Will not return.
Beautiful building on the lake and very easy to get to from the ferry. Inside is olde-world charm, a wonderful experience!
I went to lunch with a friend of mine, the location was excellent but I suggest some improvements! First of all the service and the deck, considering that you pay they must not miss the basics of an Italian table, that is salt, vinegar and pepper, above all, a good extra virgin olive oil !! second, I ordered swordfish to the Mediterranean which foresees, As a fixed and not replaceable side dish, boiled vegetables !! given that I think this dish would be better accompanied with grilled vegetables or potatoes, at least it would be nice present them in a certain way, perhaps in julienne and not cubes like minestrone orogel without, however, having the possibility of dressing them without the oil!
I hope this review can help improve some of the shortcomings, as in my intent!
Lovely location with terraces overlooking the lake, well-made dirirks
Excellent!
Very good food, serving the same.
Recently refurbished rooms with great taste and everything very clean!
I recommend pizza at the hotel's restaurant, it's great!
Great location but poor service. The elder receptionist was rude and very unhelpful when I asked if we could have a kettle in our room. Room was awful and nothing like the photos. My friend had mould in the bath room. Will ho back to lake como but different hotel.
Very well located, good breakfast, could have more services, how coffee maker in the room
Magnificent building in prime location, good food and excellent staff, particularly in the dining room.
Good large high-ceilinged bedrooms but narrow beds (2ft 6in) and lumpy pillows
Excellent food, attentive staff and brilliant position. Lovely traditional hotel. Try it
As a single person who has had bad experiences of rooms, I was delighted to have a double room with stunning views of Lake Como and the mountains. However, my bed was very uncomfortable. I ended up turning the mattress over which made a slight difference.
The hotel was very clean. The receptionists answered questions but could have been a bit friendlier.
The food was very much in Italian style with buffet starters, a pasta dish, a very generous portion of meat or fish and a dessert. This was to a higher standard than I have had in other similar hotels in Italy.
It is on the lakeside very near to both ferry points which is a huge advantage.
Overall I was pleased to be staying at this hotel - I just hope other beds are more comfortable than mine
Nice hotel with a good breakfast quite rustic but clean the pool is also quite nice is to recommend the only drawback no own parking
Not having tried anything else, I express myself limitedly to ice cream. In summary ... "ALSO NO" !!!! Sconsigliatissimo! The 2 stars, rather than 1, is due to the fact that sometimes they organize live music.
Enchanting location of the property. Cozy and quiet room despite being facing the lake. Smiling and attentive staff. Applause at the restaurant and breakfast service very kind guys and very good food. small but clean pool with space around it both sunny and shady. Experience to repeat.
Nice and cousy restaurant and their food waa pretty darn good and the best thing is their kitchen closes at around 11:15PM. So, that saves you the trip to the closest fast food spot
With my husband on Saturday we give you a seat on the terrace overlooking the lake, a beautiful view and excellent ice cream! My husband had the caramel sundae and the fruit plate with lactose-free ice cream. Fantastic! Thanks to Dragana she served you at the table: she was very kind and professional to advise me on the best solution for my lactose intolerance
Waited for more than one hour for our order, Only because the kitchen didn't do it!!!!! Wasted good 2hours here!!!!
The hotel is already full of splendor. There was an echo in the spacious hall and stairwell. The floor was also worn out, creaking with every step. Modern features deserve attention WiFi, which does not work after entering the password received at the reception. The receptionist was also unable to start the network. Once she was in a moment and not anymore. The lack of a car park is a drawback. You have to look for a place yourself.
Delicious pizza, courteous and fast service. Average prices
Grandiose historic .. Pesto with modern service .. Excellent staff
Excellent spot for lunch, or drinks right on the lake. Friendly staff. A little pricey, but to be expected for where it is. Great views!
The service here is excellent! The view is beautiful and the accommodations are very comfortable.
Great view from the terrace and good was good but service was poor. Very busy very touristy crowd. Could also do with a lick of paint.
Perfect location for Bellagio as it is moments from the pier. The room provided everything needed and gave a pleasant view of Tremezzo. The staff were friendly and courteous and went the extra mile to help my wife when she was stricken with an inexplicably swollen finger! The only minor criticism would be a slightly limited breakfast. But you don't go to Bellagio for the breakfast.
Grand old style hotel. We had a room over looking the lake with stunning views. Staff polite and helpful. WiFi good throughout hotel. Sited in beautiful Bellagio close to ferry and lots of eateries. We loved it
Great location. It's a minute walk from the port. Beautiful hotel with a lakeside view. Friendly, helpful staff. Only small negative comment is the creaking floors. They're probably the original flooring from the early 1900s. They need to upgrade their bed sheets, too.
Excellent location, good restaurant service. Very helpful guys. The only thing that leaves room cleanliness desired !!!
Nice hotel.
Excellent location first line to the beach, some rooms with lake view.
Rooms are large and spacious but slightly old. A courteous staff.
I had lunch at the hotel bar by the lake. Positive experience, not excessive price considering the position. Friendly service but a little too slow. Good pizzas and drinks.
A friend and myself stayed in separate double rooms w/c 9th Sept 2017. Rooms had a lovely view at front of hotel, which were very clean with towels changed daily. Comfortable beds. The staff were lovely and helpful especially head waiter, Luca. The main problem, especially as we had quite a bit of rain, was that the only bar was across the road. That bar closed by 21.20 on 3 nights of our 6 day stay, leaving us with no access to even a coffee much less a holiday drink! What we and other guests couldn't understand, was that the hotel housed an ice cream parlour that certainly could have been turned into a cosy bar off foyer.Especially as the outside bar opposite hotel had an ice cream parlour! (Perhaps one less ice cream parlour and one inside cosy bar would much better please guests?).
