Done high tea for my birthday. Disappointment! Have to ask where the tea was. Turned out you had to get the tea yourself at the bar. Corona measures you hear. Everyone is pouring the tea at the same spout. Contacted mail for high tea at a safe distance. We would be 1.5m away because of different households. None of this was true either! We just sat close together at the table. Do not follow the latest Corona measures! In addition, service was bad. Often dropped something on the table. And I found the sweet snacks not a success. Fudge and nougat. I absolutely wouldn't come back here! Ps van te for try to contact us by phone. They let me sit on hold for 6 minutes while I could listen to entire conversations at the reception. Then the receiver was put down.

Very nice ambience, friendly staff, excellent food at affordable prices. It is highly recommended. Wine prices are also affordable.
On occasion we will come back.

Hospitable welcome! The food was good. We had a delicious dinner. Clean rooms but basic furnishings. We had a de luxe room (room 12) but the luxury was hard to find and it was very noisy. We were upstairs in the kitchen. Worth repeating? Sorry, unfortunately not. The location has more potential ....

We were directed to the table by the hostess on the phone. Despite the spacious terrace, dinner was served inside while it was around 30 degrees outside (and inside!), Even the staff were flushed from the heat. The menu was somewhat unimaginative, the same ingredients and preparations came back in several courses. Coffee / tea could be enjoyed on the terrace afterwards, if we wanted to bring it ourselves.

Beautiful monumental castle. Well appointed, and service minded staff. The food is excellent, beautifully served. Price / quality is fine.

Went there 4.5 years ago and last weekend. Very good service, nice rooms in a nice building. Couple that with a good restaurant and you have a great hotel!

Nice place to just relax. Excellent cuisine and the surroundings invite you to walk, cycle or visit a few interesting cities a few kilometers away.

We have booked the exclusive & carefree Castle Weekend in combination with the bridal suite. Since 2001 I have been well acquainted with the hotel and Restaurant.
Despite the different managers over the years, the personal and special atmosphere has always been preserved.
The current castle dates from the 18th century and that charm goes hand in hand with the building nature of that time. I spent a lot of business and private nights in the various rooms. All rooms have now been modernized, while retaining their charm and construction.
The bridal suite is spacious and cozy at the same time. The bathroom is modern and equipped with every luxury.
The television is outdated in terms of image and channel offer. As well as the Senseo machine. This suite would deserve a Nespresso machine and sharp TV, but neither of us missed it. Because in the bridal suite you rarely watch TV and they serve delicious coffee to order.
The private Sauna is fully adequate. Wonderfully spacious and a great shower. Here too, the drinks you want are served to order.
Then the restaurant: in one word great. On Friday evening we had a 3-course surprise menu with a delicious tartare, guinea fowl and pannacotta. Saturday a very fine and delicious 5-course menu with a very good wine pairing with surprising wines. Like a white wine from Moldova, which pampers the senses.
The atmosphere in the hotel is pleasant, yet professional. You feel like a valued and highly desired guest at all times.
I really appreciate the fact that the manager also gives young people the opportunity to master the hospitality trade.
The area has plenty to offer for tranquility, nature, culture and gastronomy.
In short. Come to Doenrade Castle and let yourself be pampered and surprised.

Wonderfully equipped in an informal atmosphere. Great location for walking, cycling or exploring Limburg! Delicious regional dishes eaten for reasonable prices. Staff is very friendly and attentive. In short: a must to "enjoy Limburgs" for a few days!

Very nice, idyllic house, super friendly staff, delicious food, the rooms are just like in a castle, but very clean. Only to be recommended!

We only had a high tea. Unfortunately we have not seen any tea, we have to ask for it. No choice in a tea box. They offered a juice or water in the beginning. The warm part was reasonable, the sweet below par. All in all a disappointment, compared to others enjoyed. Therefore the price is much too high!

I was there on Monday with my husband. We really recommend it. The food was delicious.

Beautiful castle and courtyard. We had a drink, got a good night's sleep and charged our electric car.
Some minor things that could be improved:
Unfortunately the baby bed was not ready when we arrived. The first room key did not work. And would be nice to get the WiFi password at check in.

Nice location, certainly to give courses, however, based on the site our expectations were higher than it was.
The food is very basic, could have been much better. Eggs (fried or boiled) at breakfast are cold, basic toppings.
Lunch the same as breakfast only one day soup, another day sausage sandwich, otherwise no luxury fillings or anything like that.
Evening food also had no choice.
During lunch no service is provided for the removal of soup bowls, dirty plates etc.
Coffee and tea are also not supplemented as standard.
On 2nd floor sewer air in the corridor and room, this also reported, but without result.

Price / quality definitely worth it.
Very well helped by the experienced receptionist, the young receptionist is very uninterested and wants to make no effort.

Great location in a nostalgic castle. Too bad that the air conditioning and the TV did not work. The breakfast was lean, sandwiches too hard or baked twice and the bacon too hard.

It sounds beautiful, a castle. Beds are really bad though. You sleep in a single bed with 20 cm sagged spirals on the edge (and this was then one of our wedding gifts ). You must take a shower in the bath. Food in restaurant: most are well prepared but not my taste (a bit bland in taste). Portobello starter with goat cheese, a few slices of cooked portobello with lettuce and a little goat cheese spread. Steak was well cooked, fries were not fried long enough. A glass of water is not served with the red wine.
The castle is beautiful, service is good.

Last week had 3 wonderful and beautiful days. The first evening we had a dinner which was completely TOP and the choice was partly free. Dinner was included on the first night.
They are doing well here, the staff GREAT what an absolute must, both the room, food and certainly not least the service. And the wines were also delicious !!
Definitely worth repeating for us. Thank you for your nice welcome from the management to everyone who has ensured a pleasant stay !!

Fun. Good restaurant with surprising wine choices. Pleasant service. We were in a spacious attic room, but with a low ceiling. Not for tall people.

Now in corona time everything is different. The rules are neatly taken into account. Slept wonderfully in a double floor room.

We spent a very pleasant evening here.
The Oecher-Deal voucher promised a 5-course menu, which was delivered by the restaurant kitchen absolutely high quality!

A really nice hotel, was booked in this last week because I worked on assembly in the Netherlands, very friendly and helpful staff who speak some German, nice ambience of the front desk and the rooms, lovingly designed.
Breakfast buffet was very plentiful, clean and delicious.
Clean rooms and all for a cheap price.
Location is also very nice and quiet, hotel surrounded by trees and fields.
Air conditioning was also in the room and had a nice bathroom with tub.
Conclusion: was already in some hotels, this belongs to the category very recommendable for me

The welcome was friendly. The room was spacious in terms of floor space and tidy, but did give a "tight" feeling as it was together with 1 other room on the former attic floor, so with 2 sloping sides !! The beds were spacious but on the soft side. Fortunately there was air conditioning. We stayed 2 nights and on day 2 it turned out that nothing had been done in the room, no beds made, toilet paper replenished and also no clean towels. We reported this on departure. Breakfast was fine and dinner was nothing short of good.

We had dinner and spent the night here. Unfortunately, the expectations we had in advance did not come true.

The outside of the castle looks beautiful and it is in a very nice area. The interior of the hotel is quite outdated, giving it a rundown and shabby appearance. The double bed consisted of 2 mattresses, with a large slit in between. Lying nicely against each other is not an option. The website proudly announces that there is an iPod docking station in the room. Unfortunately, it still has a wide iPhone connector that has not been used for years, making the thing useless for most guests.

When we wanted to eat we were told that we could not be seated at 7:30 pm, because it would be busy. We found that too late and after some discussion we were able to sit down immediately. At the table we were told that the castle was changing ownership. As a result, the old wine stock had to be used first. So there was only a choice of 2 white wines and 1 red. The wine arrangement that was on the card could not be ordered. The annoying thing was that it was not reported in advance, but only when we were sitting at the table and had already ordered. The food was otherwise good, except for the panna cotta, which contained far too much gelatin. This made it a kind of stiff drill pudding.

It is hoped that the new owner will renovate and redecorate it considerably to give the castle experience the positive turn it deserves.

And new owner; please have an architect look at the glass conservatory that is stuck to the castle as an entrance. There is probably something much nicer out of this!

SUPER! What a great service, very friendly and neat service. First walked from this beautiful castle and then sat cozy in the conservatory. Delicious cappuccino and a nice piece of Limburg pie. Cozy and especially affordable. (And that for a castle) We will definitely be back! Mill family

Good Hotel .... service at breakfast was TOP .. also the service on arrival ... the service on arrival in the afternoon by a committed employee we found very poor, sat behind the computer when we approached the employee or we what Could ask but I will come to you soon .... but did not come ... and another employee presumably a manager helped us very nicely afterwards. We give the Hotel a total of 9.3 ... the assigned employee a 3. Maybe a point of attention, on arrival it is not clear where to park the car ... there was a sign around, but at the entrance gate a sign on which stood ... hiking trail ...! So we understood that no cars are allowed through here! We stayed in room 4 on Friday on Saturday!

We were j. L at Kasteel Doenrade for a long weekend. We were well received and everything was well explained. The Room was nesting and spacious, the beds were fine, Breakfast was also fine, we had a 4-course dinner which was very tasty, I missed a cozy bar in the evening where you could have a drink in the evening, the staff was very nice. Furthermore, the Castle is in a beautiful location and ample parking space. Of course there is always better and more beautiful and people who have something to note everywhere, except they are often perfect. The Hotel will receive one from us. 8

Unfortunately, obtaining a cake took as long as the coffee was already finished. So we canceled it. Next time we will just continue cycling.

3.5 star for price / quality lunch and dinner. Interior, matching castle, but not comfortable. In good weather you can enjoy the terrace in the sun or shade.

A very picturesque setting that creates many expectations but which unfortunately does not live up to. We used the junior suite. The accommodation is clean but sober. Very sober. The bathroom accommodation is limited to a can of soap on the wall. For a suite that is poor. Breakfast is certainly not recommended. Very limited in choice, the same every day and sometimes even exhausted prematurely. Every request for something specific is dismissed. Finally, there was a fraudulent bill. Room prices suddenly turn out to be much higher than posted on the website. We paid 170 per night while the average amounts announced are much lower. Only the dinner was good, there was nothing to complain about. Unfortunately, that is not enough to make this a must. We will not be back.

Wow! Stately ambience in a 900-year-old fort. The food was incredibly good. In the evening, at noon and in the morning. Value for money unbeatable. The hotel just great with the beautifully decorated rooms. We also got a free upgrade of the room. Service very accommodating. Yes, just everything to the fullest satisfaction!

We arrived in room 32 upstairs in the attic room without a bath which was clearly visible in the pictures, this was already a disappointment, the first day we had a nice party in Valkenburg, the second day we had dinner at the castle.
I ordered a mix grill because they did not have entrocote on the menu, my wife ordered a lamb chop, the mix grill was not a mix grill was just a karrig skewer not 4 but just 1 skewer really disappointing for words, and 1 mini bowl of fries. The double bed was just two extended beds for 1 person and far too short, I am 1.83 my legs firing 30 cm from far too short my experience is disappointing to start

My husband and I thought this would be a great place to stay. We even booked the Honeymoon suite. The gentleman at the front desk was very nice. But it did not change the fact that the room was dirty it had cobwebs, dust and it smelled like smoke.
We couldn't stay because I have asthma and I couldn't breathe. They told me that they couldn't refund anything. We paid for 5 days and we were there for 1. I do not reccomend staying here! I would avoid this place no matter what.

Room not done after 1st night. 2nd day in the morning, one person had to provide both reception and breakfast. Salient falls short in this.

Ok but not a winner. Long waiting and little communication about what's going to happen. Was not busy wonder if it is busy how it goes then. Food was good but not very much.

On Sunday morning when it is busier there are few staff.

After a short bike ride you will arrive at the castle. We wanted to have a small beer and a small snack. To our disappointment, it was not possible to get half a portion of cheese and half a portion of bitterballen. The waiter tried to arrange this, but the kitchen turned out to be too obstinate and customer unfriendly. Furthermore, the menu was not very surprising. The castle itself is beautiful, the decoration was not very chic in our eyes, rather kitsch. The beers in the menu were described with a fun and interesting explanation of the brewery from Alken, Belgium. However, the owner of the castle turned out to use the beer menu as decoration. They only serve three out of seven beers.

Delicious to eat. Very friendly staff. Hotel itself is a bit outdated. Quiet area. No safe or fridge in the room.

The dinner is perfect. A five-course dinner with class. Great cook.
Logies is a lot less. We were assigned a room on the third floor of the castle. Very close under the roof with tiny windows.
The breakfast was rather sparse. Basic. Quality products Aldi.
Staff extremely polite and helpful. You can immediately see that the hotel is family of Gulpen and Gulpenerland.

Sleep and eat in a real castle with all the comforts of chance? Here it can be done. The location is very accurate and the rooms are spacious and clean. The restaurant on the ground floor also offers some simple options for a quick lunch. The park also has the Tesla charging points for those who have already made the switch to electric. Excellent location for business trips in the area of Sittard-Geleen.
