Nice and clean hotel / castle

When checking in it all went messy, young girl had to do this think the first day, irritated myself for 20 minutes before my turn, I was the third guest myself (just takes too long)

Then you get your pass for the room and you can go back to the reception twice because you didn't work until then (later got the key)

For the rest, a beautiful location, and a beautiful room with a floor where 2 people can also sleep

Everything in the room is okay (bathroom small and cozy just a bit too compact.)

We say good hotel in this beautiful location in castle beautiful gardens, but do something about the personnel policy, I only see youth 18-22 years behind reception and service without experience in my opinion

Very good food. Kudos to the Chef! Hotel itself lacks cosiness. I missed atmosphere. Our room had air conditioning but was completely upstairs in the attic which gave us a oppressive feeling.

The location and food were great. The staff was very nice and fluent in German, Dutch and English and were very quick to respond to any requests.

Very unprofessional staff. When checking in, the staff was busy with all kinds of things so that everything was told just as quickly.
No coffee for breakfast because "she didn't know where it was". She also loudly announced that her colleague did not show up.

The rooms are not very good quality and few amenities. Huge crack under the door which makes it very noisy. When we wanted to go to sleep and we entered our room there was a huge weed smell in the room, because of this, with 2 degrees outside temp, we had to sleep with the window open.
The shower bar is still just attached with a single screw.

At dinner we were told what kind of 3-course menu we would get. When the main course was served, this was a completely different dish than what we were prepared with beforehand. "Oh yes that was a mistake of the kitchen". We had a delicious meal, but it would have been nice if this had been told to us in advance, instead of just putting it down.
However, it was delicious, really good quality food.
Next day with breakfast there was different staff and we were nicely offered coffee at breakfast.
I really cannot say more positive about this hotel

Perfect accommodation. Clean, nice manicured rooms, friendly and attentive staff. 2nd visit to this hotel and the Bride Suite booked. Everything is as you would expect from a suite, but the entourage in combination with the castle atmosphere makes the stay even more special.

Restaurant: 4/5: good, high standard. Service less (forgotten order, sometimes slow), but OK. However, completely canceled out by hotel experience:
Hotel: 1/5: Cleanliness absolutely below average. Caked dust on towel rack, mold in bathroom, plastic bottle under bed. The reception was given 'It's just an old building' as an excuse, this is no excuse for proper hygiene. No place for breakfast despite having to make a reservation for a certain time slot. Room not as advertised (ungrateful dark musty attic room with small window). Booking turned out to be untraceable when we arrived. The couple before us at the reception had booked a suite but it turned out not to be available. They were given an ordinary room with allegedly similar (hygiene) deficiencies.

Unfortunately a little less than with the previous owners. Is still good but all sorts of things that are slightly less, such as pieces from bowls, cups and plates. Staff who are not very alert and forget / confuse orders. Will definitely come back, but hope it will be alright.

Beautiful castle, but it would have been nicer if I had received attention from the ministry on the terrace. allowed gone elsewhere and some drinks after fifteen minutes.

Was on a meeting there, food great, great service, decor beautiful, parking sufficiently available.

We got the attic room. This was spacious, but very sparsely decorated. No agency o.i.d. This room could use a makeover. The bathroom is reasonable but not practical.

Had dinner through social deal. This was very delicious. Price is a bit higher but was well worth it.

Horrible! ! Unbelievable what a bad service, filth everywhere. From such a location, and restaurant prices, you can expect to feel like a real guest. Staff very inept! ! In a brasserie, service is even better, because it has nothing to do with age. Too bad for the chef that his dishes are presented that way. And because of mistakes also served cold. We will certainly not go here again, for that money you will feel very disappointed! !

There are areas for improvement. We explained to the chef. We had a nice dinner.

Christmas 2017
We have been coming to Doenrade Castle for years and always eat in the atmospheric brasserie, unfortunately this year we were placed in a room on the upper floor.
This space looks more like a canteen, you can't look outside, there are too many tables, everything is white and the lighting much too bright, no pleasant space to eat.
The Christmas menu was good, only the cold starter was too cold, which did not benefit the taste.
Too bad, we were really looking forward to it, but unfortunately this year it was a letdown.

Wonderful sauna. (Reserve at least half an hour in advance)
Bicycles for rent.
Fantastic kitchen with an extensive breakfast in the morning for a reasonable price.
Extremely friendly staff where nothing is too much what you ask for.
Beautiful surroundings with many walking and cycling routes.

Nice place and nice staff. Restaurant is good without being extraordinary. The room wasn't ready but we got a complementary drink in exchange. The room was quite noisy, we could hear the staff operating the trash containers and the waterflow from the room above at an annoying level.

Delicious food beautiful environment.min point you can not change babies and toddlers.

Castle from the outside, but nothing can be seen from the inside. Untidy and dirty hotel. It looks very neglected. For this money you better go to a Van der Valk. You also get even more amenities. Such a beautiful location but not enough is done about it. Unfortunately.

Friday May 24, 2013, my son and daughter-in-law got married at Kasteel Doenrade.
After the party, we stayed with both families and friends, stayed overnight in the castle and had breakfast together the next morning.
I can only praise both the wedding day and the location: the atmospheric wedding hall, the party rooms both upstairs and in the basement (the vaults) where we partied until the early hours.
The dinner was excellent, the wines delicious and the service deserves a lot of praise. Every wish is immediately fulfilled, absolutely everything has been done to make everyone happy, from the management to the waiters.
The drink arrangement was also great, nobody stood with an empty glass, there was a generous amount of pouring.
Partly because you were pampered in such a way, the atmosphere was very pleasant and you felt really noble, castle-wise ...
The breakfast the next morning, after a good night's sleep in the cozy room, was fantastic again. Very extensive and quickly replenished.
I never write reviews, but I just had to do this, because Doenrade Castle is an absolute must! Thank you to all at the Castle for their contribution to this unforgettable day. Carina Dresschers.

Unexpectedly beautiful environment where the hotel is located. Good food. We haven't had an overnight stay here.

We were there for dinner and ate very well. Nice atmosphere, very friendly service and moderate prices. It is also worth driving a few KM.

Nice location, good place for family weekend, wedding etc.
