The stay at this hotel was great. The rooms were good, clean, equipped. The restaurant was good with lots of local specialties. The organization of activities was great. The activities themselves were great: dog sledding, snowmobiling with brand new equipment, visiting the Rennes farm, local activities (ice fishing, arctic bathing), loan of very good equipment condition and at will (cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, sledding, ice skating) and above all brilliant guides who made us discover life in Lapland, its history, its customs, the different Sami peoples. Really the alternation of half day of activities and half free days allowed to discover the magnificent region of Lapland via the different loaned materials. And the alternation of sports and cultural activities means that one is never tired. The meeting with sami was very enriching. We realize the importance that must be given to preserve this culture and everything Finnish do to preserve it. We really leave this stay with stars full of eyes.

I wanted to see the aurora and stayed for 2 nights at this hotel. I participated in the Aurora tour sponsored by the hotel and was able to see the Aurora on the first day. As we can rent winter equipment, we can see the aurora without feeling cold!

The hotel is ok; but not the restaurant: the staff is overwhelmed by the large tourists groups from travel agencies. Being ignored by the stuff even after chasing them is very dissatisfying. Of course this is not the waitress fault; when the large groups are gone the service is good; but the administration is not planning properly how to handle the rush hours.

We were a big family group traveling from Spain, Mexico and the US to spend New Year's Eve in Lapland.
After a long day of traveling, the rooms were not ready at 5pm when we arrived at the hotel.
Once we got the chance to check in, the triple room was in terrible conditions. The bathroom looked like an old jail cell bathroom, with all the tiles broken and the toilet with yellow stains.
We went to the reception and complained about it, the receptionist told us that it was A LITTLE DETERIORATED, and that no one else had ever complained before. After a heated conversation, she got us 2 double rooms, which were in much better conditions.
From that moment, our stay at HOTEl IVALO was a nightmare. They did not make or cleanup our rooms for 3 days, with the excuse that they didn't work on Sundays. After, when they finally decided to "make our rooms" they stretched out our beds and a couple of the days we did not get new towels or clean trash cans. Which means we lived most of our vacation with the accumulated garbage and dirty towels.
The "buffet", if we can call it that, was terrible!! The trays were always almost empty. They only had one choice of protein, we had the same meal for 5 days. The presentations were terrible, like I said before with the bathroom, it really looked like a jail dining buffet.
And to put the icing on the cake, on New Year's Eve we didn't have HOT WATER. After a long day of activities, what you want is to have a good hot shower and get ready for a nice new year's dinner. Most of our group had to shower with ice cold water, imagine the water temperature at -20 C outside. Same happened the next day. We were like 24h without hot water in the middle a really cold winter town.
Also, the pool is in terrible conditions, the tiles were dirty and old, definitely it wasn't part of the renovation. The sauna was acceptable.
Overall, the hotel staff were rude and careless, ( not all hotel staff was rude but most ) the service wasn't good at all. Nothing about the hotel met the expectations of our trip.
They definitely need to upgrade their service, installations, food quality and staff.

Great place, the hotel is very good we eat well (simple small buffet)
Many activities and guides super nice, there is no time to get bored. Too bad, I did not have the opportunity to see an Aurora boreale, but I fulfilled my childhood dream. Travel to do

Just waited here a few hours, as the bus station waiting room was closed on the weekend. Has a bar with a nice log fire and restaurant open for a few hours around each meal time.

Looks a nice, large hotel with plenty of activities on offer.

I stayed at the hotel Ivalo in November 2013, it was amazing, for the price, the staff were lovely and glad to help with anything you needed, the rooms were incredibly comfortable, lovely beds and thick duvets, heating was perfect to after a day spent out in minus 21 degrees Celsius running on husky sleds, the sauna was epic. Big full spread breakfast. All around a fantastic place to stay, especially in winter if you enjoy peace quiet and having a sauna and a beer while watching the beautiful frozen river. I'll definitely be back.

The staff is friendly and professional. The Aurora can be seen by standing by the river. If the weather is too cold, you can go back to the hotel to warm up! It is very convenient. And close to the supermarket, ready to replenish!

It was a comfortable and enjoyable time for 4 days and 3 nights. The location is not far from the airport, the staff were all friendly and the club nord was more than friendly. It seems that 90% of the guests and activities are from France. Activities are conducted in English and French at the same time. One day we were able to see the aurora in the river just behind the hotel. The downside was that breakfast and dinner were not much and the room was cold. The restaurant will not open during lunch hours.

The rooms have seen better days and the hotel restaurant made an impact. The quality of the food is quite expensive. Staff too few, and the queues at the bar increased by several meters in length.

Hotel really very well located, nothing is missing ... Good bedding, availability of free equipment for free time (snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, sleds) balanced catering, neither too much nor not enough, friendly and accommodating staff, I recommend highly, really extraordinary stay and magnificent point of view to see the northern lights

Hello,

Hello,
Good value for money, good services, good rooms, varied and satisfying meals, it lacks the smile of the staff, the activities are well managed with competent guides (Margot among others) all this makes for a great holiday.

Very good price/quality ratio. Rooms are modern, warm and the location is great! Breakfast is ok, nothing fancy, but I would recommend if you are looking for clean and cozy place to rest. Staff very helpful too!
