A luxury hotel on Syntagma Square. We came here to do an event with our club. For the job we wanted it was good. Fast service but also quite expensive for what it offered, and the parking problem.

Ok

An excellent luxury hotel in the heart of Athens. Great views of the Acropolis and Syntagma Square. The decor is grand and old fashioned, but not tired. The service is highly professional and extremely attentive - possibly a bit much so sometimes, but it is done with charm. Overall highly recommended for both tourism and work, if the budget fits.

Amazing service. Best central city views in Athens and classic old world class. Cannot recommend this hotel enough. One of the few places where the high price of entry is completely justified.

The Lady of Athens. The Grande Bretagne continues to be the most lovely hotel in Athens, Great rooms, great service, great food (cocktails are just so so though). But not enough not to give this review a full 5 stars.

This is a beautiful and old hotel in Athens, and the location is very good. Many of the best attractions are just a few steps away. The rooms are large and very charming in a classic style. The hotel staff is friendly and very attentive. The restaurant/bar is on the upper floor and overlooks the Parthenon and most of the city.

This is a really upmarket hotel, possibly the most famous in Greece, a historic landmark in the center of Athens. Great views from the restaurant on the top floor. Not for tight budgets.

Hosted for a day I could not find out all their services. But I enjoyed the beautiful room, the "cloudy" bed and the private bathroom. As for the price, the next time I pay it I will tell you how it seemed to me.

Perfect!

This is a beautiful hotel in the heart of Athens. The customer service is first rate. The rooms are well cared for. High ceilings, marble and fabulous old world decor are the common themes. Everything is in walking distance. With breathtaking views of the Acropolis, Syntagma Square and the Parliament, Lycabettus Hill or the original Olympic Stadium, the multi-awarded 5 star Hotel Grande Bretagne offers a great perspective of Athens' history. Located right in the heart of the city since 1874, the 320 rooms and suites have charming old-world elegance. The picturesque GB Roof Garden Restaurant is awesome with great views of the Parthenon. The decor is awesome. The only issue I have is that their WiFi is spotty and temperamental. With the average $400 plus plus a night, can't they hire a good IT person????

I love this hotel, its history, its grandeur, its fame. I find that it provides a point of reference to all of the 150 or so years of our modern history. I always imagine the stories that the walls would say if they could talk and I always recommend to take in the view of Athens from the rooftop terrace. One of the best perspectives of the city. So one cold Saturday afternoon, just a few weeks ago, I found myself with a friend having our afternoon tea in the hotel's Winter Garden Lounge. "Stately Greek columns, marble statues, period furniture, beautiful artwork, wooden panelling, raised ceilings and full fresh flower arrangements merge into a refined ambience that evoke an air of timeless Europe, an atmosphere suited for royal service". This is the description of the SPG archives (Journey to Greece), and it couldn t be more exact. However, if I had to complain about anything, it would be that although the waiting staff seems well trained in what they are supposed to do, the service felt mechanical and fake, including the very few smiles; I was missing some authentic warmth and willingness to make you their happiest guest yet. Having said that of course, would I go again? Absolutely.

10/10

Staff let a male walking into lady's changing room without attempting to stop him. And let this male walked inside the lady's changing room at least 5+ steps and hangout inside for a good 10+ seconds. Hotel manger said that the staff walked behind the male is not a security person therefore she doesn't have authority to stop him. I was half naked inside the changing room and had to yelled at the male twice before the cleaning staff started mumbling something to him. Unacceptable for a 5-stars hotel! No sincere apologies from the hotel manger, except constant defending the male and his staff.

I ve had the opportunity on numerous occasions to use the facilities at the hotel without being an overnight guest. As a result of my numerous meetings and the number of guests that I ve hosted at meals my name is well recognized. When it comes to first class hotels in Athens today there is none better. Time will tell if the the old Astir Palace in Vouliagmeni becomes the place to go now that it s become a Four Seasons hotel. It ll be curious to see. At this point I m a big GB fan

Lovely afternoon tea service in beautiful surroundings

We visited recently the Grand Bretagne historical hotel in Syntagma square to try out their afternoon tea service.

We had been looking for Assam tea while in Greece, which turned out to be impossible to find. Upon discovering that the Grand Bretagne Hotel offers Assam tea in their high tea service, we had to visit it.

A little skimpy on the sandwiches (quantity and variety wise) the sandwiches were nevertheless fresh and tasty.

It was also very interesting to watch some of the aristocratic Athenians hanging out with their friends in the Winter garden.

The price of the tea service was 44

Very nice hotel, central location, feeling now a bit tired and dated. Best feature is the fantastic view of the Acropolis from the balcony of the top floor outside the breakfast room - unmissable!

Luxury hotel. Ornate, high ceilings and classical decoration. Rooms either look into the street or onto an empty quiet courtyard. Breakfast is on the top floor with panoramic views of lots of Athens tourist attractions.
