Except for mistakingly have only decaffeinated coffee in my room, great place right on the water.

Except for mistakingly have only decaffeinated coffee in my room, great place right on the water.
The staff were pretty rude but the atmosphere and good was good. Definitely wouldn't go back though, if I felt like being treated like I'm wasting their time I'll take my time elsewhere.
Beautiful hotel, very friendly staff and great customer service all around.
We had a weekend trip to San Antonio and due to the inclement weather, we drove two hours into the trip to at least try and see what the weather is like and it got worse the closer we got into the trip. We had about 3 hours left and decided to turn around and go home because the weather was suppose to get worse, especially in Dallas. The hotel was inconsiderate on the refund and decided to only charge us for one night. We will ended up out of pocket for $140 for something that was out of our control. Everyone knows Texas weather is bipolar and it randomly comes out of nowhere. We will not be booking here again! Money hungry
My husband and I stay there for a weekend and it was amazing the place is beautiful and the amenities are amazing.
Great Love love love this hotel from Asia, who checked me in and showed me four rooms to the Joseph at the restaurant and even bellhop and valet, Nick. Prepare to be pampered to the highest level with the height of discretion. We loved the pool and the spa services.
Great place to stay for the weekend and enjoy the San Antonio River walk.
Although the location of the hotel is ideal, the room was very damp. We felt the moisture in the carpets, sheets, couch...everywhere. we were told the AC is doing that. Although the hotel is really good with prime location, this moisture I the room made our stay a little uncomfortable
Great room and great atmosphere. I would recommend this place
The hotel room I stayed in was a top floor 2 bed apartment. The highlight of the room was the great pains to design the decor and the beautiful view from the window. The walls vary from brick to plaster. The carpet's are comfortable to walk on. The bathrooms feel both modern and comfortably wide. The largest negative is that the bathroom doesn't lock, causing some privacy issues with my roommates.
Is not as close to entertainment the Hyatt, but is a much nicer hotel and the rooms are huge. They have the best pool in my opinion. Worth it.
Very clean and incredibly nice staff. My bill was charged correctly, which in itself is great since so many places add unseen charges. I would definitely stay here again.
Great place, lovely surrounding and good eminence, I love to visit again and again. .
Great prices for everyone but us,
We have stayed here many times and are in fact staying here right now but I will never stay here again. We booked just 2 days ago and now the rates are $85 less per night on their website but they will not match their own rate. Last time for me.

Loved this hotel.
Out the back door was the only river crossing to the Alamo in the day.
Took a shower and while drying off this huge clump of black hair was on my side gross. I looked at the floor and it was filthy and also had long black hair all over it and dirt and paper trash. The sheets had blood on them. The bed blanket had long black all over it. When I turned on the lamps they were so dusty that the first one dropped lots of dust and dirt into my drink which was on the bedside table. They did not refill the minibar as requested, and did not refill it for the 4 days I was there (not even water or juice). The network was so slow I could not stream a show/movie on amazon or netflix. The room was not cleaned the whole time I was there - I was so disgusted I had cleaned the bathroom floor immediately after incident above, but missed the corners which were never cleaned during my stay. Everything on the menu tasted bad. My daughter wouldn't even eat the french fries after a long day/night at Seaworld when all restaurants had closed and room service was the only food available. The cream for my coffee pitcher which I ordered with breakfast was curdled. There were crickets in the room live and dead. Chocolates were smeared into the carpet. I had a list of bad things even more than above, those were the highlights. When I told the manager she said it was my fault for not calling every incident in. But I have to tell you after a long day and night at seaworld with my 5 year old daughter, i was too exhausted to bring a cleaning crew in at 11:30 at night I kept assuming they would clean it the next day, but they never did.
Beautiful entryway with security guards in the front ensure a safe experience.
Our room was as pictured. There were minor issues (a loose shower rod, the clock was unable to be changed). I unfortunately lost one of my diamond studs I was unable to find, but we had a wonderful anniversary weekend.
Steady crowd. Lots of businesses open. Beautiful view
Pros
- great location, right on the riverwalk
- great restaurant - the lamb chop was fantastic
- great service - valet, porter, reception, waitstaff - all great
Cons
- slow internet - this is the one thing that I have not ever found in any hotel which is why I can't give 5 stars
- poor wifi reception - we stayed in a city-view suite, living room towards the center, bedroom on the outside - wifi reception in the living room was fine, wifi reception in bedroom kept falling off
Loved this hotel. Room was clean, bartenders really helpful and wonderfully charming. Venue itself boasts a beautiful view on Riverwalk
We liked our room, the staff and the hotel. We stayed two knights and two days. All was cool. Worked out in their gym. it was a good one. The pool was good and my wife got a message there too.
The river walk was nice and I'd recommend this place to anyone. I'd hit a five star but the price of the place is a bit for what you get.
We had our dog with us too. He's a Boston Terrier and bringing him was a good choice. Hotel was great with him too.
If you're looking for a good spot this is one to put on your list.
I hope this review helps and God bless!
This place is beautiful, very clean and all of the staff is extra friendly! It's right on the Riverwalk and has a nice bar as well! If you visit San Antonio Riverwalk I would definitely recommend staying here!
I attended a wedding at the hotel. The staff was really nice and provided great service. My only dislike was the horrible smells that consume you in the hotel. The lowest level smelled like a water park. Extra fragrances were used to disguise the horrible smell on the entry level. Overall the entire Hotel smelled bad. You can tell that management is using a lot of fragrances to disguise the bad smell.
I would recommend hotel contessa if you planning on staying more than a day and spend a night or few in San Antonio. We live in Dallas and we were looking for a decent nice hotel for me and my wife and our baby to stay at. Hotel contessa seats right off the river walk with very nice view and a walking distance from all the places you'd probably bust while there. It is 7 minutes from the Alamo, and about 10 from square market and even less from Spanish governor house... their lobbie is very nice and front desk is super helpful and friendly. You can tell it is not just a hotel. Pool by the way located on the top floor, on the roof. We would definitely visit there again if coming back in a trip to sun antonio.
Very spacious and beautiful rooms, very attentive receptionists.
Right on the riverwalk, friendly staff, comfy rooms.
This hotel is top notch. From the time we pulled into the valet parking to the rooms to the decor. I was very impressed with the friendly smiling staff. This place has handicap access, convenient restaurants, and restrooms on every floor. The rooftop pool has a spectacular views of the city. I will definitely recommend staying here whenever your going to San Antonio.
Very spacious rooms, courteous staff, beautiful surroundings, and on a peaceful part of the Riverwalk
I'll never forget, it's where I got engaged! Such amazing staff and place!
Try the Sunday brunch! Free valet parking when you dine.
Woah! Can't wait to come back again! Got this resort for a great price at . I love this hotel and I'm really happy I stayed here for much less than what I typically pay.
Experienced great customer service on check in and check out. Great food and great location. Staff was very friendly.Rooms are very spacious and there is a lot of shopping / restaurant options close by. Rooms just need a complimentary coffee maker.
The Hotel Contessa was incredible. The room was very spacious, and the bathroom had a spa-like vibe. The bedroom had it's own door, which helped block all of the noise from the hallway. The access to the Riverwalk was great, as it allowed us to spend the evening down near the water. Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel if you're staying near the Riverwalk.
Great location and nice rooms but the sound of the elevators kept me up all night. I told the front desk. They said they would look into it. I never heard anything further. Also, the only had decaf coffee at the check out....
Wonderful location! Close to area attractions and restaurants on the beautiful river walk.
We even walked to the Pearl area, took about 45 minutes, but amazing and worth It! Absolutely loved the rooftop pool! Staff very pleasant and helpful! Will stay here again!
Great river walk hotel. Well ruined clean and comfortable. Walk too Bigga on the Banks for dinner down the street. One the San Antonio's best.
Lovely hotel in a beautiful location. The rooftop pool and hot tub is fantastic. The staff is friendly and helpful. Beds are comfortable and rooms are well stocked. The only complaint I have are the elevators- too few and they don't seem to be optimized (they won't bypass calls to deliver/pick up; instead they will answer every call meaning a packed elevator will still stop at every call taking forever to get a car, and forever to get off a car). If you aren't in a hurry though, this is a great place to stay!
Perfect location right on the riverwalk! Gorgeous rooms, roof top pool and attentive staff. Would stay here again!
My husband and I recently stayed at the hotel Contessa, and really did enjoy our two day visit. The hotels location was great with access to the Riverwalk. We stayed in the king executive suite, it was clean and had a nice lay out. The hotel is very impressive and offers a very nice luxury feel. The only disappointment was the pool was closed the days we arrived. Not such a dig deal, but would have been nice to be able to use it had we wanted to. The really only complaint I had was the room smelt very musty when you walked in. Once the AC was going you really didn t notice it. But the one smell I could not get pass was the smell on the Riverwalk floor. Once you exit the elevators into the bar/ dinning area you are hit with an overwhelming musty smell. This made you not want to sit at the bar or dine at the hotel. Which wasn t a problem for us we ate on the Riverwalk both nights and only encountered the smell as we passed threw to the Riverwalk exit. We defiantly look foward to coming back to San Antonio but may try another hotel next time. I wouldn t say I d never stay at the contessa again, because we really did enjoy our time, but always nice to try something new.
This hotel offers a great location on the riverwalk with rooftop pool and on-site restaurant and lounge. The suites were attractive and the staff were very friendly.
Incredible hotel on the river walk !!
It s picturesque :)))
Was just at the hotel for the Vista Consulting conference for trial lawyers. Outstanding! The service was phenomenal and they served great food during our event. I was particularly impressed with the meeting room. If you are planning a meeting in San Antonio, I recommend Hotel Contessa! Looking forward to coming back soon.
It's a nice hotel, but i wouldn't stay there again. We're locals and have never stayed on the Riverwalk, thought we'd give it a try.
Stayed at the Contessa for PAX South. It's a short walk to the convention center, and it's close to multiple restaurants and convenience stores. We had a nice, big room, comfortable couch, comfortable beds, even with multiple people in the room never felt cramped. The staff were all friendly, and responded quickly to any request it complaint. Definitely would recommend.
The staff was awesome, especially, Mando L., he deserves kudos! A BIG thumbs UP! Thank you for a wonderful visit!
Great stay, clean rooms and we had an awesome time!
Great lobby bar as a place to meet business contacts.
Excellent accomodations and staff, located near everything in downtown. We would definitely stay here again!
Went to bed with water leaking from our Bathroom ceiling. Staff came in and cleaned it up with no issues. Was awaken at 7:30 with water leaking from the same area. Apparently the management would rather appease guests that cause issues than the guests who are just trying to enjoy a getaway weekend. I will spend my dollars elsewhere in the future. Advice to management would be to deal with the issues, problems don't go away.
I will never reccomend this hotel to anyone or ever stay at this hotel again. Since the day I checked in I've had nothing but mediocre/bad things to say about this place. The day we were suppose to check in (4PM) we weren't given a room until 530 PM, we paid for a river view room and was given a view of the hotel wall, a bridge and a sliver of water and that was considered the "river view". The hotel restaurant is way over priced and the food isn't good, there are MANY other restaurants on the river walk that have delicious food and this place isn't even close to being one of them. I also paid to have a white button down shirt cleaned/pressed and when it was returned the shirt was covered with black spots all over the front, back, and sleeves of the shirt. All the hotel manager offered was to clean it again, which only made it worse. The room itself had a wet/mold smell to it when we first arrived, the bathroom wasnt clean and the shower curtain rod was broken so the curtain never closed. If you want your room cleaned during the day while you're gone doing things then good luck because they never got to my room (5th floor) before 2PM. The only good thing I can say about this hotel is the staff (not the front desk staff) were very friendly. For the money I paid I am very disappointed.
Very Nice Hotel, Wonderful Location, Horrible Elevators
Stayed at this hotel with my spouse for our anniversary. It is a beautiful hotel with walking-distance access to the best locations of the Riverwalk. Weddings were going on and teens in their prom dresses were making the atmosphere more lively.
The only complaint was the long waiting time for the elevators and particularly the situation exacerbated when one of the elevators went out. This resulted in 10-minute waits until there was some space available for the guest to go to the lobby or their rooms.
Parking is available across the street for $18/overnight; so if the hotel's $37/night valet parking doesn't make sense to you, don't let it ruin your vacation.
The pool is beautiful and lovely, but in my opinion it could be bigger with more amenities such as changing rooms, etc. Anyway, it definitely gives you a good mood in hot summers of San Antonio.
All in all, a wonderful experience. Worth every penny.
Attended a social event & a dinner here while at a conference and cannot say enough for the staff- they've obviously hired great people and trained them well, super friendly and attentive.
Great hotel. Love the location. The elevators are noisy and the restaurant downstairs sucked (gave them two chances), but the room ambiance and overall decor was great.
Excellant. Nice room. Love the location on a quiet part of the river walk. Lovely stay.
An upmarket hotel in a great central location in San Antonio. Valet Parking $38. Quite a good deal considering the extortionate costs of parking in the city. Help with luggage and doors by staff was a nice touch. Happy hour in the bar 4-7. The Contessa cocktail blew my socks off!!! Room nice, classy and had 2 seperate rooms, a lounge area with tv and a bedroom with a seperate tv. The bathroom nice and spacious with good products. The sofa bed was really uncomfortable to sleep on, complained to reception at check out which fell on deaf ears unfortunately. My husband slept on this bed with my young son who was not used to sleeping alone. Access to the river walk is from the rear of the hotel and the Alamo a short walk away. The pool was nice, small and sheltered on the 12th floor. A great view of the city and bar service should you need a drink.
Awesome location right on the river. Clean comfortable rooms and helpful staff. Would stay again!
Everyone is so nice here, Hotel staff, cleaners, maintenance workers, Bartenders, everyone, very relaxing, I'll definitely be back
Traveled with my husband and two small children. The staff was very friendly and helpful. However, they have zero amenities available right now. Restaurant and Spa are closed. No room service. Even their pool was closed for 2 of the 3 days we were there. I recommend waiting to stay here until they are done renovating the restaurant.
Great location! Loved walking along Riverwalk right outside our hotel. Had breakfast on hotel patio, right on the River. Fantastic rooftop pool and whirlpool, right next to San Antonio's most famous skyscraper with the huge American flag! While rooms higher that the 6th floor views become more of a parking garage across the River and it's hard to see the River due to tree cover below location is still great! Request rooms at 6th floor and lower if you'd like better views of the River. However, hotel is right on the River and consider this hotel the best in San Antonio!
Checked in from Wednesday to Sunday. We booked two rooms. Upon check in which was a good experience by Fatima, I proceeded to the room. That is where I was disgusted and appalled that the reviews certainly does not match the rooms.
1) The bathrooms had bulks of hair in it. It smelled of a pungent scent and the water in the tub was not draining.
2) The rooms are dark and from experience, I know this is a way to hide the filth. When I say dark, I mean even if you open the windows the living room part is still very dark and had a musty scent.
3) The sheets had a couple of small spots of blood on it.
4) Bathroom and furniture and worn out and sofa are heavily stained. You would not want to sit on it.
It was around 5.30 and we decided to call for room service to clean while we go out for Dinner. I spoke with Abby and told her of the situation and she assured me that she would send someone up.
At around 7.30, we came back no room cleaning so we called again and I spoke with Fatima who checked us in. She did send someone up who was very nice and he did clean.
The next day we had the same issue with the room and I just felt grimy and nasty. This is not what I expect after paying over 200.00 per night for one room and a hotel that call themselves luxury. They were quick to offer a different room but to me if your hotel staff cannot clean and keep a place hygienic and the changed room had the same worn out furniture, nasty tubs and stained sofa, this is unacceptable since your hotel mission and description certainly does not match the reality of the rooms you offer for the price.
I checked out on Thursday and went to a true luxury hotel. Of course, I asked for a refund, which was two rooms. I really do not care that I did not get my refund but please know this review is about the lack of cleanliness of a hotel that calls themselves luxury.
Please do not respond with any generic comment or lip service remark and no I am not and do not need any monetary compensation. It s simple give customers what you describe. In addition, no need to respond and let me know that you would share my feedback with housekeeping just do it and get it done. Very deplorable and nasty.
Such a great place to stay! Staff is great as well. Everyone that works here stops to see how is your visit is going.
