No air conditioning in the room, so much too hot in the summer. When we were there, the baker didn't have time to bake their bread, but our last breakfast did. This bread made the difference for me from a mediocre breakfast with cheap tasteless bake-off rolls to a tasty breakfast because everything tastes good on delicious bread. Too bad they didn't have a better alternative for that.

We had the bad luck to be allocated room 7. This is behind the roof of the hotel. The room was not spacious. We changed the bedding after arrival because it was full of hair, in the bathroom it smelled of urine and the shower curtain was not just for holistic body care. Since we had outside temperatures of over 25 degrees and the room was facing south, it was really nice to snuggle warm. Fortunately, it got fresher at night but somehow a loud device on the roof disturbed the peaceful sleep on the uncomfortable mattresses. The service on the outside left a lot to be desired, but I think they were understaffed. Otherwise everything was great. 50 meters away is the Maas. Within walking distance is a supermarket, restaurants, bars and attractions. Venlo is about 15 km away. Too bad, the hotel really has a dreamlike location. A few renovations will surely enhance that.

Total customer experience is way down. We have been treated disgracefully and very customer unfriendly by the owner. This is my worst guest experience ever! The restaurant was pricey for this mediocre cuisine. The service is very messy: staff passes plates, glasses are cracked on the corner of the table, fries undercooked, orders are confused by inexperienced service, have to ask for salt 3 times. EUR 2.50 will be charged (unannounced) for a carafe of water (total bill for 6 people includes various drinks, wine, beer and for meals). Put it on the card or pass it on when ordering, then you can make a choice. The manager indicates that we had had a major problem at centerparcs ... It is completely unclear to me what we have to do with centerparcs. He also complains about a lack of staff as an excuse for the poor service. The 5 euros for the tap water will be deducted from the bill ... That all ends well? Not so. Apparently this hotel owner cannot stand criticism. This is reason for the owner to insult his guests during breakfast the next morning and to treat them very roughly. During breakfast, the dining table is pulled away from us while we are still eating. This under the guise that breakfast is ready, we are in the way of the passage to his terrace and that he sets the policy and rules here. When asked what this refers to, he indicates that we can find fault with everything ... Very unpleasant and unprofessional. And the rooms are also very noisy.

Rooms were spacious and well cared for, dinner and breakfast also fine. Hear now that our group (10/11 men) want to go again next year!

Very nice and not far from the center! :) very quiet at night and nice to sleep! Unfortunately in the city itself very little going on .. so good if you want to have your peace. Staff is very nice and attentive. Kettle, coffee and tea available in the room and is refilled every day. Hygiene could easily be improved otherwise very well!

Great, room was not hot, immediately different room and (inconvenience) free dinner for 2. Better service is not conceivable. Breakfast and dinner excellent, room excellent and staff very friendly and helpful. Had to drive 250 km for it but will definitely come back.

Saturday night February 22. The room is freezing cold and the disco 2 floors below keeps going with its pokey noise. The shouting and screaming of the visitors blares over the Raadhuisplein No elevator and the ambiance of this hotel is from the seventies. Jaded and dated.
And how much guts can you have: they also charge a surcharge for the weekend here.

We just came home yesterday, a stay of 2 nights instead of 3 unfortunately due to the corona rules, but we had a good time. Very nice service and the room was also good, the food was delicious. Really worth repeating though. And also a top location for cycling

A nice old hotel in the center of Arcen. The room and shower looked neat and clean. The whole was recently renovated. There was even room for a third bed. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good, plenty of choice.

Unfortunately, this positive impression does not extend equally to the rooms and the breakfast. The room was unfortunately only reasonably clean (black mold residue in the shower, cobwebs in the corners of the ceiling). Our room, like all rooms, was on the first floor. Since it went out to the back, we had a flat roof in front of the window that could be walked on - and unfortunately also constantly rushing air outlets from, as I suspect, air conditioning systems.
Unfortunately, our room was not air-conditioned and the night, due to the daytime temperature of 35 degrees, could only be endured with the window open. The noise was always present, furthermore the possibility that someone is looking through the window at any time.

But we were really unlucky because the smoke detector triggered false alarms twice during the night. The latter affected all rooms, since it was centrally controlled. The staff was probably quite embarrassed, but there was no official statement / apology / reparation the next day.
The breakfast buffet was rather careless with cold scrambled eggs. A little more attention to the condition of the buffet would have been desirable.

Since we had booked two nights with breakfast and 3-course menu via Groupon and therefore saved over 50% of the normal price, we were all in all just about satisfied. However, it would never have been worth the price that is charged according to the hotel website on the Internet.

We had a Groupon voucher for a "deluxe" room.
There is no such "deluxe" room. Our room faced a flat roof, where there was a compressor for a cold store that starts every 3-5 minutes. So you can only get to sleep with earplugs and a window. However, the air quickly becomes unbearable.
The breakfast went, quite spartan.

Unfortunately, there is nothing really positive to report except for the situation. We had booked through Groupon, which we have always had very good experiences. Our expectations for a double deluxe, were already destroyed on the way to the room. On the subject of cleanliness can be noted significant shortcomings: hair in the bathroom, moldy joints. The ventilation in the bathroom was so bad with any mold spores, that you may suspect a threat to your health. The carpet in the hallway to the rooms was totally filthy, in the hallway were also scrapped machines. The view from the room led to a dilapidated roof terrace with worn chairs that could be accessed via windows (one was allowed to climb). Thus one had the smokers in the morning in front of the window and they had free view in the rooms, if you had not completely closed the curtains. We have already visited campsites that had more feel-good character, than this hotel. In addition, due to a false alarm from the smoke detectors, we had to leave the hotel in the middle of the night (which, as we later learned, happens more frequently). At the time of the false alarm was no staff on site, a corresponding information on the cause or excuse, there was not the next morning. At this hotel it remains with a pleasing facade. The guest is fraudulently deceived with well-chosen and arranged photos about the condition of the rooms.

We booked through Groupon. It was a great stay, the room was clean and big. We had breakfast and 1 times 3 course menu. The food was great! There was a spontaneous response to my histamine intolerance and I got a meal specifically tailored for me. Top! The restaurant and bar were very tastefully decorated. We had booked 2 nights, but unfortunately had to go home after 1 night, as I fell ill. The boss of the house was very friendly and met us. The staff is very friendly. Arcen is small but very comfortable. I spent a great short break with my husband there, had a great birthday and life slowed down a bit. That was good!!! We will definitely come back, even just for a day to eat there and spend a nice day there. Who wants that is in good hands here!

Upon entering you will be let in at the counter after a long wait. You have paid and you get the room code, then it is 8 minutes to 2 and you are not allowed to enter your room. Very nice restaurant and then you go to the toilet and that disappoints again. Was clean .. Sure .. But a facelift is definitely needed. Just like the carpet in our room .. And something noise insulation would be nice. The beds slept very well and the bathroom was neat and clean.
We sat in the cafe of the hotel and were told just before 11 am that it was the last round .. But other people could just order. Bit strange to be honest.
Furthermore, the hotel has a great location. And parking was also not a problem.

This review only applies to the restaurant we are currently from. At three o'clock, entering the bar, none of the five waiters thought it necessary to assign us a seat so that we could find a table ourselves. The waiter responsible for our table had the peace away - until he came to the table already 10 minutes, then he asks what we want without having given us a card; brings us then the - in German required - only written in Dutch map. Somehow you had the feeling that you are annoying, as well as the slightly stressed operation, the drinks brought. The ordered pizza was so hard that it could hardly be cut with a normal knife, and the tomato sauce was too sweet. We were allowed to sit for thirty minutes in front of the empty plates, before someone settled down to clear things up; and our desire to pay was, in spite of a purse and a generally recognizable spirit of optimism, studiously ignored and preferred to change tablecloths or stand around. Bottom line: Mediocre food and service that does not deserve this name - bottom drawer, as a guest you do not feel welcome.
