My aunt was in severe distress and needing hospice. At first Hospice Austin agreed and proceeded to admit her on a Friday. Monday they said they weren t taking her so she was transferred to another facility. I pleaded with Hospice Austin to insure she had the proper treatment so she was comfortable, without pain and could be at peace. The hospice nurse left an emergency kit in case she cried out in pain and left. My aunt was not cognitive or have the ability to speak for herself. Extremely callous treatment by Hospice Austin. I fired them. New Century hospice came in saw my aunt in distress and immediately started addressing her issues.

UPDATE!!!MUST READ!Had an absolutely horrible experience. Just recently I did Hospice in home with my mother. Our team leader nurse was supposed to come twice a week to check on mother yeah well in six weeks I saw her three times. She was always sending somebody different which was fine because I didn't like the charge nurse anyway. They didn't help me much yes I got all the free equipment pads Etc had a little bit of counseling from the social worker. Other than that I was on my own completely on my own. But if I had a chance to do it again with my mother I would do it again with a big smile on my face I love my mama hospice I don't like them so much. Not to mention nobody has called me since her passing 3 weeks ago I've had no more counseling no contact and I'm having a rough time right now just so you know. I just thought I should get this out there if you're looking to help a loved one pass away at home do hospice by all means just don't do Austin hospice go to Georgetown Round Rock even. Sorry peeps I feel like I've been put on the back burner by the people that were supposed to be there for me :-( that's all I've got nothing else to say thanks... UPDATE!!!! Over a month and still NO ph call from them!!!!

Hospice Austin is a blessing to our community. The dedication and kindness they provided my mother made her struggle, and ours, less painful.
Thank you to all the employees and volunteer angles at Hospice Austin and Christopher house.

Austin Hospice felt it was appropriate, prior to discharge to communicate equipment needs for my loved one via telephone. Upon his arrival home he had no life saving equipment available, and had to be sent back to the hospital. Thank you for wasting my time. Sept.21,2020 still no call.

My Aunt is a retired hospice nurse. When we found out my dad was terminal, I called and asked her who she would recommend and who to stay away from. She said your first choice is Hospice Austin if you can get them. We were in shock still but called and someone came out and truly just spelled out next steps, here is what you can do etc. Then we got our team. Krista was just amazing. She was SO compassionate but matter of fact. First thing she did was tell us what equipment she thought we might need. They delivered it before dad was even released from hospital. Everything we asked for was delivered so quickly. She would advise us on what was happening. When the end was near, she checked on us several times a day. We had private home health 24 hrs towards the end to help. Hospice Austin worked so well with the coordination between them. When the end came (early hours of the morning) they had someone on site within 20 min of us calling them to say he had passed. I cannot say enough about how wonderful the entire team was with my entire family.

My husband was diagnosed with ananplastic thyroid cancer at the age of 57. There is no cure for this disease. Thanks to Hospice Austin my husband was able to die comfortably, at peace, and with dignity in our home with his family, friends and beloved dog. This would not have been possible without all the the great support we received from Hospice Austin. I think their many years of experience is what made the difference.

Not only did they help with my husband's physical and spiritual pain; but they helped me and my family with our emotional pain. Hospice Austin staff was always available to night and day. I took advantage of two of their many grief programs that enhanced my ability to grieve appropriately.

I never felt alone when Hospice Austin was supporting me. I recommend Hospice Austin to anyone that may not be around in the next six months. Not only does the patient receive wonderful care; the family and caregivers are also supported and assisted through a most difficult time.

Hospice Austin supported a family member through end of life, and multiple friends and clients. Their staff provides care compassionately and competently, and seem truly called to the services they provide for their patients. I'm very grateful they are an Austin institution for Hospice care!

Hospice Austin was a godsend to my mother Lynda, who died under Hospice care in 2007. While Hospice certainly provided her with much-needed physical comfort and medical attention, they also helped me in ways that I never anticipated.

The Hospice patient-centered approach does not ignore the needs of the caregivers, and in fact it provides support to those who care the most, the family. I cannot say enough good things about Hospice Austin.

Poorly run. Rude. Too big for their own good. Hospice Austin has gotten complacent in its many years of service. Instead of staying humble and giving quality care to their loyal community, they take advantage of their position and treat their patients as second rate humans. The nurses are not friendly, the management only cares about their reputation and getting more patients instead of taking good care of the ones they already have. If you have a loved one looking into care from them, I would highly recommend you stay away and find a more caring caregiver than this institution.

I was so impressed with the care provided by Hospice of the Western Reserve (in Cleveland) when they were caring for my mother-in-law, that I decided to volunteer with Hospice Austin.

Hospice Austin provided us (the volunteers) with extensive training and tremendous support. When I have a question about how to deal with any concerns regarding my patient, they are very quick to be there with support.

It is a privilege to work with Hospice Austin. Everyone is so professional and compassionate. I recommend Hospice Austin most highly. And I encourage people to avail themselves of its services earlier rather than later.

I will start with the good - The nurse assigned to my mother's case was sweet and caring. She made an effort to make conversation and you could tell she really cared.

However, I have an issue with the bigger picture. There seemed to be a lack of communication and transparency in the company as a whole. I would call them about my mother's pain, and they would send an aide out to help. Then, another aide came by and would have medicated my mother AGAIN if I hadn't been there to tell the second aide a first aide had already come by and done that. If it was just a one time genuine mistake, that would be somewhat acceptable since no actual harm was done. but the lag in information and communication was a serious issue during our ~2 months with hospice austin.

Hospice Austin, and the staff were angels during a very difficult time for my family. It was amazing how they worked. When I look back, there was definitely a system in place, because it ran flawlessly. From the nurses, social workers, chaplain .even paying my moms utilities bills. It all was there just in time. We were not waiting for help. The people are what made it special. His last days were not chaotic, but was a process and a time for healing for my family. My mom still talks about it today, and raves about Hospice Austin to anyone who will listen.

The Hospice Austin staff really stepped up in our time of need while my father-in-law had suffered a massive stroke. The COVID restrictions complicated things to the point of us being helpless, but the Hospice Austin nurse found work-arounds and took the burden off of my family.

While our emotions were out of control, the Hospice Austin folks were kind, professional, and able to guide us logically and logistically. The hand-off from Ascension-Seton to Hospice Austin was seamless.

Five stars from the Brown/Skinner/Bechtold families.

Hospice Austin is a true blessing to our community. Everyone, from the intake staff to the caregivers, goes above and beyond to make sure that not only the patient but the entire family is well cared for. Our loved one has been paired with an incredible nurse practitioner, Brian, who has truly been making the very best of our situation. We are beyond grateful. Please continue in your great works.
