Place is very pet friendly and unfortunately the rugs smell like wet animals. You can try the non per friendly Holiday inn with the best view in Charleston ( Circular Bld) across the bridge.

I stayed here last year, and thought I would try it again this year. I've been here for 6 days and had to request my room to be cleaned. I did decline one day, however, I do not understand how the room cleaning system works. In addition, another party was booked at the same time, and their reservations were all screwed up. The people are extremely friendly, but overwhelmed when there's a line for check in. I will be visiting the are frequently as my son is here for school, but I'm wondering how it is that they can keep my business.
Not informed of construction going on outside of our room, even though the manager claimed it was on their website, it was nowhere to be found. I've stayed in hotels for $64 that were nicer than this one we paid $164 for. If you're in Charleston, stay somewhere else.
Breakfast was okay but not worth the cost of the room!
As expected. Rooms could use some updating but otherwise fine
One of my favorite cities , but unfortunately, the worst hotel. smelly bathroom was not really clean, no closet, no trash can , I request these services no one person to go to my room to deliver the service. poor presentation , bed skirt pretty wrinkled and unsightly lines fortunately had paid one night room 105 ..... really bad.
I would never stay here again. I prepaid for my room on Expedia and I was double charged by their front desk staff with the card I put on file for incidentals. That wasn t the worst of it because mistakes happen - I was extremely disappointed in their lack of sense of emergency and attention to this matter. I was told that they have other guests to attend to which I thought was rude and a slap in the face because I stayed there and was a very respectful guest. Yet, they took my money unjustly which they acknowledged! I had to take it up with my bank who also knew Holiday Inn Express was shady so they didn t give me a hard time with filing for a fraudulent transaction. Stick to Airbnb or stay at another hotel because you might get taken advantage of and it s not worth it. Protect yourself and your hard earned money - next!
Breakfast was nice.
They had a damage with their water, so we had a very low water pressure and couldn't have a shower in the morning we left.
Pool wasn't good either, was too salty but that's a common problem in the US, especially in the South (As that's maybe a matter of taste, I can't really count this as an objective review).
Room wasn't good for its price but wasn't terrible either.
Overall I admit that I wouldn't book it again. Had more terrible experiences though. It's okay, if you're just here to sleep and have your breakfast, but then: aren't there budget hotels doing their job as good as this one or even better?
There is construction going on next door to this location and they start working as early as 7:30 AM! Had I known that i would have stay elsewhere!! Staff is very pleasant though.
Checked in... Hair on the beds
Not a good reception after traveling morning flights to come to this
The first two pictures are not of the hotel currently because it is under construction. It is as old as dirt.
A strange smell but not overwhelming. Good hotel service and a very nice breakfast.
Friendly Service close to everything downtown construction was not a problem at all
The bed was comfortable and location reasonably close to downtown. The hotel needs updating, but the staff was very friendly
The service was awesome and I was able to park my vehicle safely while out on my cruise. I will be returning HERE.
Great location close to everything downtown. Super friendly staff and clean room.
This hotel is disgusting!!! The rooms are so gross and outdated! I came for vacation for a week and as soon as I walked into the room I started crying! I walked out and made arrangements to get to a different hotel. Pictures are deceiving. Mold in the room and bathroom. I could not have imagined trying to sleep in the gross bed.
This hotel gets a 5star rating because of Jo, who works a wait-staff in the restaurant/bar, in the evenings. She is such a kind, warm person, and she takes the time to learn her customers names and treats them with such respect. She is fantastic! It s not very often that someone (rather than something) in a hotel makes the impression, but she certainly made a great impression, for us, of this hotel!
The front desk personnel was very nice and helpful. The elevator was not working when we checked in. They were very apologetic (offered free wine too) and the issue was fixed on sometime. Room was very good. The bed was bit higher than expected, but was not a major concern.
Staff was very helpful and friendly. Great location.
Just awful. Enjoying our little weekend family vacation to Charleston was hard after making the mistake of booking this hotel. We have loved the Holiday Inn hotels, but this one is really sad and we will never come back.
-From the strange front desk guy we tried to avoid at all cost. We walked up on him one night at the front desk on the phone arguing with his wife.
-Our room had a balcony, but the door was locked. THE HOTEL IS RIGHT BESIDE A CONSTRUCTION SIGHT, SO IF YOU WANT TO SLEEP IN THIS ISN'T THE HOTEL FOR YOU!!!!!
-The rooms were not clean like they should be. We had to rinse out the shower. There was hair and dirt in the tub. There was a receipt left on the floor from a previous guest.
-Our room wasn't cleaned one day which sucked! We had to bring down our trash to the front desk. (We didn't have the busy sign hanging on our door.)
-OUR ALARM CLOCK WAS BROKE AND THEY HAD NO OTHERS TO SPARE. TOLD US THEY WOULD GIVE US A WAKE UP CALL AND NEVER RECEIVED IT.
-Shower head was broke. Couldn't change the settings.
-I saw a roach in the bathroom one morning.
-Bedding was stained and had spots that looked gross.
-The housekeepers should really cut down their music. Passing by rooms they are cleaning you can here their awful music. Glad our child is just a baby or I definitely would have said something right then and there.
-Breafast was ok.... We ate pancakes from a pancake maker machine and there was sausage links and patties on the bar.
-The only thing this hotel seems to have going for it is the location. I guess that's why was paid so much for a king bed room.
Very good service and rooms. There were occasionally odd smells.
Pictures very deceiving hotel needs upgrade badly .Construction sight right next to hotel very loud early AM.
The breakfast was very busy but overall my stay was quiet and our room had a nice balcony
Nice place. That allowed us to bring our family dog
Room was great overall. Beds were very nice. Free breakfast was very nice too. Only issue was the tub/shower needed better cleaning and refreshing grout.
I had to work 3rd shift out of town. They messed up my week long reservation 2 times. So everyday they woke me up multiple times a day saying i had to leave and i would have to show them my company paid for a full week. EVERY DAY. I got no sleep. So finally the manager comes up and says i have to leave. Then i had to show her. I just left anyway. Worst stay at a hotel and ive been to alot.
Rooms were okay, though not the best. Bed was comfortable. Construction going on nearby at sometimes odd hours made it difficult to sleep. Not the best neighborhood. All in all they tried but I still feel like I overpaid.
Our room is clean, however the shower grout looks like it needs a good scrubbing. The staff are friendly and helpful. There isn't much parking directly by the building but they validate parking at the garage right across the street. The parking situation is somewhat inconvenient but not horrible. The parking deck is pretty spacious and newly built. 3 stars instead of 4 primarily due to the bathroom shower needing some attention.
Horrible. I left my wallet in my room. Checked out. Went back to get it and it was gone. I blame housekeeping. This is the 2nd time this has happened. We stay there when my husband has surgery at MUSC so I m always worried and yes, forgetful...
Room is fine, staff is friendly but if you want to have breakfast, ready to go somewhere else to get it. There were about 100 people and only a few tables. After waiting for 25 minutes for the table, we just left without the breakfast
1970s Holiday Inn, with bathroom sink/faucet upgrade. Employees at breakfast very nice and did their best. However, "Name!...?" was the greeting by front desk person upon arrival/check in. There are CHOICES here, and this was a terrible one. Would NOT stay here again. Mold on ceilings, just shabby everything. Creepy gross. Carpets unswept, hair in bathroom. Ugh. We had too many things to do to change hotels, but should have. Shame on you, Holiday Inn and "IHG". Photo is our view of ceiling laying in bed. Woke up with horrid headache. Coincidence? Ha. No.
Was giving a room key that someone was occupying. Then we changed rooms and had a lizard and a bug in there and couldn't get the balcony open to let it out.I finally got it opened and got rid of the lizard. The pool was green so didn't get in that.Construction going on everywhere around the hotel ( which I understand that can't be helped).
Nice room, pity there's so much construction nearby
Ebony at the front desk is a literal life-saver. My friends and I came to Charleston for a girls trip over Memorial Day weekend. The second morning of our trip, my friend realized her car keys were missing. We tore the room apart to find them with no luck. We went and checked the front desk with no luck. Hours later, after calling several locksmiths and dealerships to try and get a new key, we came back to the hotel and decided to look one more time. We searched the room, and my friend said she would call the desk to see if anyone had dropped them off since the last time we checked. As soon as my friend described her keys, Ebony said she had them at the desk for us. Ebony had the keys turned into her the previous evening after we had left for dinner. My friend had her name and address on a keychain on her lanyard and Ebony used that to look her up. She called our room but we weren t there, so she waited for us to come looking for them. She saved our entire trip. HUGE thanks to Ebony. Thank you for keeping our keys safe!!
Great rooms and tasty breakfast - expensive but worth it.
Excellent stay. Clean and freshly painted. Friendly staff. Very dog friendly.
The most I can muster for this hotel is not bad. The person at the front desk ignored me for a few minutes doing other things and then finally helped me check in. My room wasn t bad, but it was missing the ironing board. I went to call the front desk to request one and the phones receiver was also missing. I walked to the front desk and again had to wait a minute to be acknowledged. She had no idea why I didn t have an ironing board but did call maintenance and they brought me one almost immediately. I thought breakfast was fine. Plenty of hot water for the shower but very poor lighting in the room. Overall a little over priced.
The rooms are very spacious and a hot limited breakfast comes included. Overall the room was nice. The vestibule and front desk area smelled heavily of cigarettes. Not much parking either. Close to downtown without the downtown pricing was a plus.
Del was awesome. She was so helpful and nice. We would come back again and just because of her.
Great location. Friendly staff. Clean room. Nice continental breakfast. Parking is tight.
It was nice. Probably will be nicer once the construction is complete next door. They should rename the hotel because the new construction obstructs any view of tbe river. But it is centrally located to any attraction you may want to see in Charleston and reasonably priced.
We stayed in a recently renovated king leisure unit. It was exceptionally clean and hot breakfast was being served fresh right up until 10. Overall an easy and enjoyable stay.
It was a nice stay, parking was a pain. They had a gravel lot and we were dressed for a wedding... kind of a pain with dust. Breakfast was not great at all. Had an apple that was good though!
Great hotel to stay in while visiting Charleston!! We had a great experience from the moment we checked in. The front desk staff is very friendly and accommodating. All employees were very pleasant and made our stay enjoyable.
Location was decent. Rooms were small, but good. Water remained hot. Breakfast variety was of the normal selections. Staff was informative. Staff attended to my friend as best they could, after he stepped on a nail on a board in the parking lot. There's construction going on next door, which made the parking a little difficult. Overall, no complaints though.
Poor service. Hotel has poor maintenance. Poor parking options.
Staff is super friendly. Rooms and lobby are clean. Breakfast is great! Convenient location.
Not pleased with my stay at this hotel. I was in Charleston for my medical school interview at MUSC, and barely got any sleep due to construction right outside our window that went on throughout the entire night. There was no mention that there would be any construction going on or that it would be non-stop. If I had known this, I would have gone somewhere else. Parking is also an issue with the ongoing construction. It is in a gravel lot next door that may fill up. I would not recommend this place, at least not while the construction is occurring.
Very nice hotel with comfortable rooms, spectacular garden, great view on Tokyo from the breakfast hall at 40th floor, nice shop gallery at ground floor. Definitely recommended. Good value for the price (but I benefit of a corporate rate).
The hotel was very clean and recently updated. The staff at the front desk was not very helpful or friendly. The parking situation is also very unorganized. There is not enough parking for guests in the hotel parking lot. They have guests parking at a restaurant parking lot close by. Overall the room was nice and the hotel but I wouldn't rank this place high on southern hospitality.
Great staff, clean rooms. A little noisy in morning due to construction.
Great price, great continental breakfast, terrific service.
Ebony was very friendly and helpful. Would stay there again.
Rooms are super small and have a musky smell. The view from the room was nothing like the one on the website and the balcony was not accessible.
Pretty clean. Good location. Construction around the hotel made it difficult to get to and away from the hotel. Parking was limited due to construction, as well.
Hotel is in a great location for taking Uber around town in the evening. Most nightlife is a mile or two away. They are building a new hotel/building next door so it's an active construction zone. It did not wake us up on Saturday morning. Hotel was not particularly modern or fancy, but was clean. Wife and I were happy with our stay.
I love the little grab and go bags for breakfast. They keep it full and stocked
The breakfast Staff is top tier. Friendly, works hard (not an easy job that people normally take this seriously) I dealt with Ashley, Darlene and the Manager Allen. All of them were the bomb and very accommodating. Not often do you see people take this much pride in their jobs.
Hotel manager very friendly, he gave us another room without a problem, after we could not sleep on the first night from 2:00 -6: 00 because of the construction site noise in the immediate vicinity.
