Holiday Inn Express- Chicago/ Downers Grove, IL Review

Only had one towel in my room to start, patio door lock was broken, clear plastic disposable cups for coffee cups, screaming baby next door (not their fault I know) not super inviting or clean.

This place was nasty.. I think they need a new cleaning crew.. The ones they have now suck!! Here are some pictures of there cleanliness

NASTY OLD ROOMS! Our bathroom was never cleaned and was nasty! Bed was never maid or the sheets was never washed I would stay away from this place

Front desk service was really great (Omar is wonderful). Everything aside from that was horrible.

The hotel was outdated. The bed was nice but the bathroom, the carpets, and the decor could all be upgraded. Staff was friendly, and room price was reasonable.

It was not a great stay, old hotel, stained bath tub, water marks on the wood, unclean shower curtain, I decided to change hotels

I gave it four stars because I feel like you get what you pay for, and this hotel is cheaper than others in the area, so I didn't have high expectations. It's an older hotel, which didn't bother me at all. The furniture seems to be newer, the rooms were updated, and the beds are comfortable. It's also clean. Breakfast was fine, staff is friendly. The bad stuff . . . The road noise is bad, and I'm not sensitive to that but it was too loud to ignore. It was very cold outside when I was there, and my room felt cold unless the heater was blowing, and the heater was loud. The tub drained slowly, so I was standing in an inch of water when I was showering.

Always clean and quiet. Usually accommodating for early check in as needed.

Nice stay good breakfast everything you need with fresh pancakes and sausage. Those ladys worked hard to keep everything well stocked with a smile thank you.

Great place to stay. We stayed a week. Convenient location! And, all staff were very friendly especially Diane the breakfast host was super friendly!

This was a nice Holiday Inn Express in suburban Chicago. Lots of food choices and shopping nearby.

Staff is nice. Good location. First floor room had some winged ant-like insects flying around, perhaps coming in via the air conditioning. When I got to my room, the door was not closed.

The location is near few restaurants and supermarket. Rooms is spacious and cozy. Sufficient amenities are available. Service is great.

First time when I come in the door I saw Sam I saw him very generous person it s a good person TO honor of the hotel you have to PROMOTE THIS a guy and is going to make you a lot of business because it s a good good person you have to make him a MANAGER very attentive, professional, best experience I ve had in a long time

Have stayed at this hotel many times. The staff is very accommodating and really work to make your stay enjoyable. We find this hotel very convenient to family and shopping.

I had a couple of different rooms at his hotel during my 3 day stay. They were all the same, very musty. This hotel is in need of renovation and/or a serious dehumidifier system. Avoid if you have a mold allergy for sure. The continental breakfast was up to par and the staff were friendly, but the hotel is itself is in need of some serious work. The beds are ok, but feel soggy due to the hotels atmosphere.

The desk was very helpful and got us a room even though they were almost full. Ron at the desk worked on getting us a room that would make us happy. Great Hospitality.

The front desk staff were super friendly. The room needed super cleaning. I had to be moved twice due to mold in the rooms. The managers were responsive, but even the last room was musty. They really need to get a handle on the mold and mildew issue in this hotel. Otherwise, the place is modern and conveniently located. And, the staff were helpful, particularly the night time manager. They just could not solve the problem. It will be a while before I try this hotel again and I travel the area monthly for work.

Its excellent because its really clean and their breakfast is really good. Their personal are really friendly, especially Robert because when we go to Chicago I always let him know and he does my reservation and never had a problem. So everytome I come to visit chicago this is my stay and will alaways be my stay. I recommend it alot its an nice and clean place.

Funny smell in the room, not bad but different. Wifi worked so I was happy.

Good access point between Chicago and Aurora and Balaji temple. Low and old interiors. Excellent beds and bath though. No extra towels provided.

Room smelled like weed. I came in almost an hour past the 3:00 check in. The manager stated to come back at 5:00 they are still cleaning. Came back at five, went to check on room, still smelled bad. Emptied two cans of Febreze that made it bearable. Pulled out the couch to sleep, and it was filthy. Closed the couch and had to sleep on it. The room was overall filthy and bathroom not stocked, no body wash. This used to be my go to place when I stay in Downers Grove, not anymore. The manager offered a discount, which I didn't get. Can't leave zero stars or I would.

Staff was very accommodating for our companies workshop.

It was a pretty good little hotel clean and quiet but when I first got there the lady at the front desk was very rude. I didn't know that at 2 in the afternoon I wouldn't be able to get in my room yet which was fine I understood, but the attitude and poor customer service from this lady by the name of (shar) was not needed she could have just simply politetly told me that she would let me know if something became available early like she did for different man when I was checking out of the hotel .... Mind you checkin is at 3 so to me that was pretty ridiculous but besides her attitude it was a nice stay

I booked a room for hold and they told me they needed a card to hold my room. So before i even get there to check in they took the full purchase of my room which i ended up needing to cancel due to a family energy! And i call amd they tell me they cant give my money back because its policy. Then today 4 days later after not staying there they take an addition 185 off of my card. I highly dont recommend staying here. Horrible people to work with!!

I loved the location of this hotel. Easy to get too among the busy Chicagoland area. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance. Only thing stopping a five star is the inside could use a face lift.

I enjoyed my stay here. The staff were warm and friendly.

Couldn't get shower to work. When I called the front desk, I was RUDELY told that there was a sign and you had to pull the handle out. Sign was not even close to the tub, and it was so hard to work, my husband had to pull it. On the plus side, people at check in were nice. Won't stay here again. Overpriced for what you get.

The front desk staff is friendly however maintenance requests take a long time to be fulfilled. Bathrooms do not smell clean (stagnant water/mildew like smell). Bedding was clean and overall room condition was clean as well. Hopefully others experience can be improved.

This is a classic, clean, cozy hotel. I ve stayed here a few times and I enjoy it. A good stay for the price!

Nice room. Front desk was courteous at check in. In the morning however, there was no one at the desk to check out. And breakfast was supposed to begin at 06:00. I left at 06:06 and drove through McDonalds.

Our stay was phenomenal! Quick, painless and friendly check-in! Clean rooms! Great quality beds, linens and towels! An awesome, generous breakfast included ... and all at the right price! Already looking forward to our next stay!

I am giving the full 5 stars to the hotel staff. Everyone there from management to cleaning staff was beyond wonderful, friendly, and courteous. We booked a block of rooms for a special event and Katie and her staff made it a pleasant and easy experience for us. As for the hotel itself, there is no pool, their complimentary breakfast was well stocked and kept clean. The rooms are a little old but they make a good effort to perk it up with newer fixtures such as the curved shower curtain rod. They make an effort to make your stay a pleasant one. A floor mat in the elevator wouldn't be a bad idea... and even after some private problems we ran into, I can say that the management team there did their best to please us.

The property is not new. Nice and clean. Any shortcomings were more than made up for by the staff. They went above and beyond to make sure our needs were accommodated.

Friendly customer service. The sink was slow to drain, you could hear everything from the rooms around you. Definitely needs updates

Receptionists are nice albeit moderately pleasant. We received the same room as last time, which was quite bizarre, and our bed seemed to be missing its comforter. Also I've been there three times, and for some reason I'm still not a rewards member even though they've given me points for almost being electrocuted by a phone.

The room could have been originally cleaned a little better. Behind the night stand looks like it hasn't been touched in months. The phone does not work. It is plugged in but has no tone and can't dial even the front desk. Breakfast was fresh but we had to wait a long time to get items that ran out from so many people being down there at once. It's a quiet neighborhood.

The room was not clean, had a hair brush with hair on the chair in my room. The furniture is very old and scratched all over. Only thing I liked was the breakfast and coffee.

Was a horrible experience right off the bat. The room smelled wet and dingy and they tried to say they just had the carpets cleaned however no streaks on the floor from it not even wet at all. There was trashed shoved into the bed. I went to take a shower in witch was so messed up it barely worked and the towel rack had been hanging but broken so they stacked the towels on the counter. The toilet barely flushed. When I left the hotel the front staff laughed when I told them the issues and I had a bad stay.

Bathroom had hair in the shower. And bath tub plug was broke so no bath for little ones.Used toilet paper role left in the bathroom and the bed sheet had a decent size stain. Wifi didnt work. Dated rooms. Doesn't have a pool. Is in a decent location though.

The rooms at holiday inn express are excellent as is the service by rowie, Ron, and Ahsan! They accommodate everything needed and I m very impressed by how well they ve taken care of me. That said, come to holiday inn express and you will be taken care of for sure !!

It's a solid place to stay when I'm in the area. I like the quick breakfast that is included.

Very clean room, delicious hot breakfast, very pleasant stay

Room was nice, good showers and good breakfast. The room smelled a little funny at times though and there was no Disney channel.

Beds and pillows were ok for comfort. Breakfast was Cinnamon, sausage gravy biscuits and the normal things you expect. The tub tself was very clean but the corners need some attention We were there several days so normally we leave the DND sign in. The one day we needed housekeeping the took all of our towels and only left us 3 to replace them. This review would be 3 start except one evening we came back and as we round the corner to walk upstairs in the building, there was a homeless person asleep in the stairwell. He was probably just looking for somewhere to keep warm but had I come in alone without my husband I would have been very very afraid. II'm not usually afraid but that spooked me enough I wouldn't go out to the car for the rest of my things. He was sound asleep so he had been there awhile. I will never stay there again because I fear for my safety without and kind of security or cameras that are watched.

This place was wonderful. It was a last-minute stay after going to RRInn up the street and literally having to walk out of that hotel (so dirty and unkept). So this place came along and we were so glad Holiday Inn had a room for us! Life-saver!! The price was somewhat higher than others in the area but we'll worth it. We were very happy with our stay here. We felt safe. Rooms were clean and quiet, staff was wonderful, breakfast was great. Location was perfect.

The Holiday Inn Express was a good place to stay. The staff was friendly and the rooms were clean. Complimentary continental breakfast was very good with many options.

First of all, there is nothing wrong with the staff.

Unfortunately a bit run down. The carpet has stains where it is possible. The ice machine in the hallway is very loud.
The hotel must either be renovated or leveled.

Great breakfast, cinnamon rolls were delicious! Also included 3 eggs options, sausage, biscuits and gravy, muffins, apples, oranges, oatmeal choices, toast, cream cheese, dry cereal, milk, coffee, juice and a very nice eating area, comfortable beds and very clean rooms.
