Great to be able to see this old ship in such lovely condition.
Well presented and staff were engaging and knowledgeable.
Fascinating old ship to be on. Kids loved the Pirate tour! Lots to investigate above and below decks. Top class.
Comparing with the HMS Victory, Gannet is not as good as her. However, still a good condition heritage ship.
A splendidly restored example of an early British warship - not only does it look the part, but the story boards give a fascinating insight into the various incarnations of this unique vessel.
Great fun. Wheelchair access to upper deck. Friendly staff
HMS Gannet was a Royal Navy Doterel-class screw sloop-of-war, launched in Aug-1878. The primary purpose of ships of this class was to act in support of maintaining British naval dominance through trade protection, anti-slavery and long term surveying.
After sterling service in that role Gannet was decommissioned in Mar-1895 and became a training ship in the Thames in 1903. Thereafter Gannet was mostly employed as a training ship for boys in the Hamble from 1913 onwards. She was restored in 1987 and is now part of the UK's National Historic Fleet, berthed in the Historic Dockyard at Chatham.
It's good for kids it has a glass floor so you can look at the rudder stand on it if you have the nerve that's bit is fun they have two other ships which are great to see
Don't miss if in dock yard. Definately worth vidiy
Great for a walk about and the kid's love playing on a real ship. Watch the steps a bit steep in a short skirt so just follow the wife.
Big site, lots to explore. Kids loved Doc Yards science experiments.
Really nice ship, in great condition. The back captains area has a glass floor looking down to the water level!
Historic victorian warship powered by sail & steam. Wonderfully restored.

To anyone reading this please remove all doubt or hesitancy when booking this venue. Their level of client care and client response is phenomenal. Chloe Wilson is one of the most professional wedding/events organiser I have ever encountered and their MD, Mark Sandberg is committed to delivering a wonderful experience and really and truly cascades that ethos through his team. We had a hiccup or two, nothing any of our guests noticed and every hiccup was resolved and smoothed out without any fuss ...we have been so impressed with them both ...Thank you both for truly caring and being truly committed to making our wedding day be remembered as being a lovely one .
Warmest wishes and true thanks

Small but impressive ship that you are able to roam at your own leisure.
Cracking day, well maintained and a recommended visit.
An excellent and rare example of one of Queen Victoria's navy in the grand days of the British empire! Also a great place for would be pirates to gather (or have a spectacular wedding!).
Great for events, went there for a champagne celebration.
