It was two dollars for a kid under 42" to ride. No second ticket for the adult who must ride with small child. Beautiful carvings and kind staff.

Beautiful carousel but they rely on volunteers so open times are sketchy and they even charge the handicapped to ride.
You have to go. And take the down stairs tour. It s amazing
Would recommend this to any family we're very proud of Albany and what they have put into this carousel.
This is a hidden gem, I didn't know Albany had anything amazing in it, I was dead wrong. This little downtown area and the carousel were amazing! Go! Bring dollar bills, and enjoy!
Delightful to ride the carousel on a Monday morning while waiting for Amtrak. Lots of excited children and adults, too.
Absolutely lovely place. We take the kids here every month. The craftsmanship that goes into each piece is simply amazing. These are true artists and the kids love watching the works being painted in the back by the artists themselves. This really is a classic that you must see.
Great place to entertain children for 10-15 minutes.
We really enjoy this spot on rainy days! It's always clean and the staff are friendly and our daughter loved the carousel
Sweet time in Albany at the historic carasel. My four year old grandson was entranced by the beautiful animals and the experience.
The volunteers are super helpful amd friendly. The place is beautifully done and kid-friendly. Good snacks too.
I love this place, and so do the people who run it! Great fun and really interesting. All handmade animals by locals.
What a fun place to visit for children and adults. Not only can you ride the carousel for a token amount ($2) but there are frequent tours of the carving and painting rooms. Gift shop and snack bar on premises.
The historic carousel in Albany is stunning! It's super cheap to ride too, only $2! I'm a photographer and took a family's photos there, it was perfect.
If you have a child or young at heart, you should go visit.
Outstanding, Educational & BEAUTIFUL!!!!! Very Kind Staff too.
the carousel was really nice but there was a large number of people. it's badly organized. they need 1 person giving instructions while the carousel is running. the carousel could handle twice as many riders. they waste to much time.
My son loves this place! It is really nice and they are taking all necessary covid precautions!
Operated by volunteers. There is a cool snack bar here and a inexpensive lunch is available. Friendly helpful staff.
Beautiful and amazing! Such a great place with wonderful history.
Very interesting history, liked our tour guide. Like how you can talk to the artisans. Always fun to ride a Carousel!!
Amazing place. Amazing staff. Beautiful handmade pieces of artwork. Highly recommend going out of your way to visit this gem !
Wonderful place to go. My grandkids loved this place.
My partner and I have been wanting to visit this historic carousel in Albany. Wow, were we ever impressed. Not only do you get to ride a beautiful carousel, but they have a guided tour where you get to see historic carousel characters but also get to see several characters in the process of being carved or painted. It was very interesting and worth the visit.
Great afternoon for the grandkids, neet place to visit
Wonderful place to visit all ages. So much time put into this place over many years. It's been exciting to watch it grow. So much respect to all involved. Come one come all and check this place out. Albany is a super town lots to do.
It was beautiful and informative! Not to mention making you feel like a kid again. Definitely worth the stop. Fun!!
Delightful place to take the kids, and the kids in all of us!! Loved it!
What a wonderful experience! The building is beautiful, the staff friendly and helpful, and the carousel! The carousel animals are gorgeous, the music fun and the whole thing a magical experience. You can take a tour of the basement where more animals are being carved and see how they come together, go through the visitors center and view 120+ year old carousel horses, and learn the story behind the creation of the current carousel.
Beautiful animals! Great atmosphere. You get to watch them actually carve new animals for the carousel!
I didn't actually ride the Carousel and because they make me dizzy. But the downstairs tour was nice. All staff were friendly and helpful.
Beautiful historic carousel. Touring the carving and painting studios provided a view behind the scenes of the creative process. The stories of each carousel animal explained the inspiration and significance of each one, very interesting. It's worth a visit if you are in Albany.
Beautiful! The staff are friendly and enthusiastic-obviously proud of the carousel. The gift shop is stocked with well made items.
Awesome, great old carousel, beautifully restored, great carvings of the new animals. The new building is beautiful. A must see.
It was very interesting and beautiful. We just went in looking. Plenty to look at.
Great place to go to ride a carousel and to take your kids to ride it
I'm so glad that Albany has this place. It really adds something special to or downtown. My kids are getting a little old for it now but every time my sister visits we bring her little girl there and she enjoys it. I especially like the carnival they do every year
Went to the Lego event that a group put on and had a blast. Took the kids on the tour and found put that their is a basement where they do all the carving and my kids loved it.
Beautifully executed, and they maintain a vintage sense of whimsy. Fun for the whole family!
My daughter loves carousels, and it was very nice and clean. The staff were really friendly too!
Very nicely built! Top quality. Had a fun time with grandson and family. Albany downtown is good!
Great public arena. Busy and noisy which of course adds to the joyful atmosphere of the carousel. It is beautiful.
Such a great experience. The carousel animals are beautifully whimsical. Totally worth the $2 tokens. Love taking out-of-town friends and family to it!
Albany can be so proud of "our" carousel and the folks who are making it happen. When we have guests, it's our favorite place to take them.
Great come back. It's amazing how great the carvings look. 6 years!!! That's some dedication
Awesome place to have family time the volunteers definitely go above and beyond to make sure everything is good for customers total enjoyment and is worth the money spent would definitely highly recommend this establishment without any doubts.
What an amazing place. Especially for such a small town. The level of effort and community support that has gone into this is inspirational.
What a delightful experience! The carousel is an absolutely stunning labor of love. Each animal is so beautifully crafted and painted. The volunteers were helpful and informative.
Took my goddaughter here and we had a great time. We did the carousel three times ($2/ride as of today). We also bought their passport so she can record each of the animals she rides. We were fortunate that they had volunteers actively carving today. Our guide was really knowledgeable and pleasant.
We love the carasel. Such wonderful people who truly enjoy children run it. The carasel animals are works of art.
Great place for the kids to have some fun, entertaining for adults too!
This was a great stop! The carousel was beautiful and in the back of the gift shop you can see part of the Painting and Carving Studio where they make the animals for the carousel. My kiddos are older but really enjoyed this stop as well.
This is the most magical carousel ever! If you are ever in the area, stop by. It's worth it for young and old alike!
Absolutely beautiful workmanship on these! All fully restored by hand carving wood.
Only $2 to ride!!
Fun to just sit and watch the carousel go around. There is always more to notice on the animals. Also very friendly volunteers.
Beautiful work! Fun for the kids. Maybe add something while you wait?
Just awesome!! Go down stairs check out the carvers .
Great carousel and seeing the carving of the animals was fun
Watched the volunteers carving the animals for the Carousal over the past 3 to 4 years at their same site prior to the fantastic new building its in on the same place. This was the location of an old hotel near the waterfront. This building is so awesome that after we arrived we stayed for hours and had a very enjoyable afternoon. We visited the gift shop and went downstairs to watch the new animals being carved. We were shown the way the wood used is constucted to make each part of the animals. There was a lot to see and quite interesting. My grand daughter who' s 14 y/o had a fun day and rode the Carousal. I would recommend any family to spend a afternoon enjoying the Carousel. There are 30 animals, real and fantasy, mounted on the Carousel and there will be 22 more animals finished for the ride in the future. So if you go tomorrow and plan on coming back again and again to see the updates.
What's more fun than an historic carousel ride? Beautiful and artfully carved.
If you are a carousel fan, this is a fun and exciting adventure for the whole family. Not only does it offer the requisite carousel ride and gift shop (with a decent snack bar) but it also has a small museum with fascinating local history, and carousel hustory. Boasting a collection of fine antique carousel "horses", it also has a walk in workshop where new ones are made! You can even book birthday parties here. It's adjacent to a riverside park if you want to make a walk part of the day.
Nick picking staff. Repeatedly reminded the rules which we agreed to and followed. Rules not to do with Covid, personalities of staff with control issues.
This was a delightful experience to share with our 4 1/2 year old granddaughter! The Carousel itself and the building are just stunning. What is really exceptional though, is all the volunteers and artists who made it happen and continue to do so. A token is $2 which isn't unreasonable. All the staff (volunteers) were friendly, helpful and knowledge about the project. Great experience - I had a perma-smile the whole time!
This would be a 4 star but the parking situation is terrible. I love taking my nephew's and neices but I feel awful that we have to park in front of other businesses in there very limited parking areas for an extended time to enjoy this carousel. It would have been wonderful if they had made a parking lot to accommodate the traffic they have or would extend their current parking lot.
Amazing place...can see the creation of the carousel animals... beautiful.
Experience was excellent. The volunteers were very nice
Beautiful building and lovely carousel. A quick, cheap must see if you are in town.
Beautiful hand carved and painted animals and a friendly volunteer staff. Great family fun.
You can buy a bracelet for unlimited rides or you can buy tokens. There are also wonderful rooms able to be reserved ahead of time.
