Took my friend there for her very first time. She spent $150. The meats all look sooooo nice. I spent over $50 and I was just taking her to see it. The young woman behind the meat counter put happy faces on our meat wrappers, the lady behind the deli counter was very nice too then out cashier was great too. All in all a very pleasant experience today

I went into the store as we purchase extensive amount of product at work from Highland Packers but I rarely get to go to the outlet as I am from out of town. I was looking for dried sausage in particular. I stopped to answer a text message and was stopped by management who accused me of taking pictures of product and then asked me to leave. I had not taken pictures of product. I realize that stores do not want people loitering, but there are reasons why I may need to look at my phone while in a store.

I'm astonished at the number of positive reviews.

The stock is inconsistent
The service is extremely slow
Some of the staff are very rude

More often than not I'm disappointed

It's worth the drive if you're from the city. Ample parking, sheltered queue outside if ppl need to wait to enter. Prices are very good. A steak that costs $20 at a grocers down the road is $10 if you buy in bulk here. Produce section has good deals. There are stickers on the ground to physically distance and arrows to direct people. Still...80% of shoppers on a Friday afternoon and a Saturday morning were acting oblivious. They didn't respect the spacing. I felt shamed for speaking up when asking ppl to maintain their distance. I'll shop here again but during an off-peak time.

Picked up a turkey and some pumpkin pie today. Both the poultry and bakery departments were helpful. Appreciated that there was someone at the entrance showing where disinfectant was.

If you like good 'real' food, this is a gem of a grocery shopping experience. Everything from fresh eggs to a butchers counter from heaven to a wonderful bakery and prepared salads, soups and meals... the only thing that could make it better is the staff. And they do!

The place to go for any fresh meat - just about any part of a pig or you can get a whole pig or two. Any cut of steak you desire awaits you there. Whole chicken, chicken leg quarters, chicken parts, unfrozen freshly done beef burger patties, frozen 100% beef burger patties, local eggs & veggies and so much more. Great spot for local produce and top quality meats. Their lunch counter is quite good as well! They randomly have a well-stocked section for Mexican/Latin American products too :)
The $9 mushroom basket is one of the best value buys you can make....you won't believe the size of this basket.
Anyways, there are tons of great deals and quality stuff here. Staff is very helpful and they do custom meat cuts on order.

Highland packers is a great place to shop. And it's growing.

I purchase my lunch from here at least twice a week. Reasonable price for excellent home made style food. The warm food choices are excellent and the quality and quantity are what I'd expect. The choice for fresh meats is also excellent. Make the trip and you will be happy with the quality of this family run butcher/country market.

Very friendly staff (on the whol), at the wholesale meat section, cash and cafe! The savings on raw pet food and feature sales make it well worth a monthly drive into this remote market.

This isn't a place for speciality diet shopping, i.e. gluten free groceries. But a large variety of european products. They often have samples out.

Check their website for hours (closed Sundays) and "features." Make sure your freezer has room for meat by the case, X-large froozen fries and veggies.

I had never been here and heard it was good for meat. I couldn t believe when my husband and I got out of our car there is actually the employee smoking section to the right of the front doors.... surely you have a section in the back or side that can be used? There is also a strange smell (like bad pork) We bought some sausage and peameal I think I will toss it out. I just read other reviews about the bone chips... it s 2019, move the smoking section, we will NEVER return....

Great meats and great service. Outstanding. The Italian sausages are really good. Try the eclairs in the bakery! You won't find better.

Very great service and selection of meat products. All high quality and very hearty. Their chicken is premium quality. Their cash and carry section is awesome. They do have a lot of hardcore Christian literature all over the store which is mildly uncomfortable. That is the only reason for the missing fifth star.

Fabulous store, attentive staff, great quality food and excellent variety.

Beautiful layout; certainly a lot bigger than the old place. Staff is friendly and professional. Prices are higher tho, especially on pre packaged or case goods, about 25% higher than any grocery store in the city.

One of my favourite " meat n potatoe" stores ! A little 'country fare ' ....sweet !!

I love to come here for my meat shoppings and for the view. This store is embedded in a country side of Hamilton Mountain. Beautifull scenery!

You can find here almost all kind of meats you can't easily find at other groceries stores: for instance: fresh lamb, goat, smoked pork chops.

They are not strong on grocery shopping, they are a meat store where you can have good things fro snacks, basic fruits and vegetables.

They have a very nice bread corner and a small coffee shop where you can grab a quick bite.

Highly recommend them!

Love HP - great specials and great meat. Have also bought other staples like eggs and milk. Chicken breasts are HUGE! Everyone at the cottage I took them to was impressed and was asking where to get them. Butchers are also very helpful. Repeat customer.

Great selection of premade frozen dinners.. Great fast friendly service. Prices are very good.

ONE STAR FOR THE FROZEN MEAT LASAGNA.. TERRIBLE .. THREW IT OUT.. DON'T KNOW WHERE YOU GOT THAT RECIPE?

There ground beef has bone chips left in and sausages pretty much broke my tooth biting a piece of bone. Don't buy meat here

Excellent selection of quality meats, worth the pricing

With the help of Highland we celebrated our 100th anniversery , They provided a 4 ft X 8ft cake ( amazing ) and supplied the beef on the bun ! Melt in you mouth beef the food was amazing cannot say enough about Highland . Thank you to all the Highland staff for making our experience amazing . We served over 700 people the food was A1 . THANK YOU if you want good food you are looking at the right family business ....... Strongly recommended !

It's a great Place to get fresh meat. I like that their own coldcuts don't have nitrates in them. I wouldn't say they are the friendliest of people.

I've been going to Highland since I was a kid. Great place, great people running it.

This is a wonderful central European style grocer. It has a great deal of items, that are typically not so easy to find (e.g. sausage making supplies). Of note is how clean this place is, as well as its organization; these are top notch (almost sensory overload). I was also pleasantly surprised, not only by the affordable pricing, but also by the friendliness of the staff. This is certainly a place to try.

I have been a long standing customer of Highland Packers and yesterday I was left standing at the cash register for over 5 minutes after I pointed out I was over charged on an item I had just paid for. The woman at the cash walked over to the sale sign posted on the cooler door and returned with it to say this is the wrong price and the sign should have been removed yesterday. This happening at the end of the day so obviously everyone else that whole day who like me thought they got the sale price posted on the door were wrong. The owners of Highland Packers have had this happen many times and still they treat the customer poorly at this point of the sale. Instead of understanding that the customer should be rewarded for taking the time to point out the store's false advertising practice. The micro manager owners of Highland Packers need to look at why other grocery stores reward valued customer that are over charged at the register. You need to put yourself in the customers shoes and see if you like being the customer left standing at any store's register holding up the line because of pointing out the pricing error. After 5 minutes of standing at the register the store's key holder arrived to begrudgingly offer the posted price. This was a very poor store experience and not the fault of myself nor employees following instructions from Highland Packers Ownership.

Its a unique grocery store there is only one. They have a bakery, deli, cheese and cold cut counter and a meat counter with a large variety of meats, poultry and some frozen foods as well, plus lots of unique foods from around the world. And they butcher there own meats and package to sell at good prices. Its well worth the visit if you have never been there before

Great meats here. Home made sausages in a variety of flavors, fantastic steaks, fish cakes and fillets,as well as a wife variety of prepared foods. Plus all the usual produce and grocery items. A great place to stock up on food for the bbq.

Fantastic place to get produce and meats. Meats can be ordered in bulk or purchased packaged. Store is bright and clean, staff is knowledgeable and friendly.

I generally buy their boneless skinless chicken breasts when they are on sale. They have them in approximately 10 lbs bags as well as smaller portions. The have a butcher, a deli, fresh local produce and frozen foods.
