Mouth watering meals. Famous for the local Yoruba dish of Ewedu and amala. One of the popular eating spots in Abuja city. Price of meal is very pocket friendly but get ready to stand in queue to make your orders

Iya Oyo Amala also known as Matosh is a popular Amala joint around the Wuye area of the Federal Capital Territory. For lovers of this cuisine mainly from the South Western Nigeria, a visit to Iya Oyo is worth the experience, Amala is served hot with ewedu, okra or vegetable and you have a wide choice of protein and fish and an array of soda's or bottled water to choose from. All these you can rest assured are prepared under reasonably hygienic conditions, a trial will surely convince you, but come early just before lunch time or be prepared to join the ever increasing cue! Enjoy your meal!!

There is zero hype about Iya Oyo Amala. However the place is fully packed most times and one has to queue to pay for food which is disturbing to me. Nonetheless, the quality of food served at Iya Oyo Amala deserves every single second of waiting on that queue.

Please, do not bother with anything but the staple meal - abula, that is; Amala, ewedu, gbegiri and stew. That's the real deal.

The mode of service is convenient for staff and customers. They didn't try to hard on the ambience. It's not contemporary, it's comfortably Nigerian.

You should definitely try it out.

If you don't mind standing in line for your food, and eating out of metal plates, then this place is for you. It delivers authentic African food at a very affordable price. Its menu is nothing elaborate but for its clientele is adequate. What do I mean?? It's signature dish is Amala (yam flour) served with Ewedu (a soup of Yoruba origin) with a combination of assorted beef, and offal. This is what people come here for...they also serve other dishes like rice and beans, plain white rice and pepper stew, but I have to say they are not nearly as popular as the Amala and Ewedu...so if you're ever in the area and looking for budget food in a rustic environment, check out this place. Points to note, its very down to earth dining don't expect anything fancy.
