Spontaneous visit on a rainy day in Cornwall!

Like other reviewers we thought the full tour was a bit expensive but with a 10% off voucher in hand with thought 'sod it' and did it anyway. The tour was interesting and we got to see lots - prob lasted for about 2 hours in total although we thought it was a little dragged out in places. Towards the end of the tour there was sampling - they give you plenty to sample!! (Non alcoholic juice for little person who also seemed to love this part as well) Just make sure you have 'Des' sorted and agreed beforehand as they can crack on with the juice but also have an empty glass to fill for the other stuff when handed out. ie. Benefiting the rest of your party! ;-)

The full tour also gave us a drinks token (can be used on juice not just cider) and included a tractor ride - which was OK, but wasnt out for long.

If you decide not to have one of the tours you can still pop in the shop, walk round see the animals, get a bite to eat etc.

Note: Parking is free...!

home of rattler cider. Great experience, had a quick walk around and sampled all their different rattlers. was a little expensive to get in, i belive it used to be free, but you do get a drinks token and ca try as many samples as you like. they charge extra to sample the gins. The processing plant was closed due to covid which is a shame as i expect that would of been the highlight of the visit. Lots of different rattle ciders to buy in the shop on the way out.

How dare they charge you to go in. It's a factory and a shop with some farm animals thrown in. I've read the five star reviews. All I can say is some people must be easily pleased. Perhaps these same people would like a tour of the local pasty making facility. See how pasties are made.

Only spent 40mins here on holiday to Newquay. Our coachdriver took us here on the way back to our hotel. Will certainly come here for a proper visit, on my next holiday in Cornwall, where I will drive us about.

This came as a shock as we are used to spending a lot in the gift shop which we believed equalled out for not paying an entry fee. However, we discovered that we couldn't even enter the official gift shop without paying a fee and had to use a shop within the visitor centre. The visitor centre/ new shop was disappointing. We wanted to buy rattler cider but discovered how expensive it was compared to other shops around cornwall that sell it and even have the new flavours for much cheaper. My daughter also wanted to buy apple sauce, again disappointingly there wasn't any apple sauce, upon asking the man behind the desk where it was he just said they didn't have any and that was it. Finally, my eldest daughter wanted to try the new rattler gin and was also surprised to find that she could not try it in a disposable cup before she paid, so she ended up not buying it. Also we witnessed other families arriving at the farm seeing the new entry fees and leaving the queue promptly. Healeys we will not be returning, heartbreakingly.

I visited the cyder farm in June 2012. After spending several years drink the famous Cornish Rattler i wanted to see where it was made and the farm more than exceeded my expectations. I was expecting a small, out the way place but the car park was huge, the shop was huge and the place was packed. After buying a crate of Rattler (which works out about 30% cheaper per bottle than in shops) i decided to go on the tour.

I had a great guide called Betsy who's only just started doing the tours but she did a great job. You get to visit various parts of the farm and see the cyder being made, bottled and we even got to see the cellar and distillery. I believe this is the only working brewery/distillery/farm in the country that let's you do that. After that you get a tractor ride through the orchards to see where all your cyder (not sure why it's spelt with a y here and not an i) comes from. It was a lovely day out and a shame i couldn't do any of the free tasting due to having to drive! You're offered the chance to try every product they make.

There are lots of animals here including an enormous shire horse, Storm, who is very friendly along with his friend Sunny. They sell lovely ice cream and jam here too, there's much more to it than just a farm shop.

I can see why this farm has such popular products and it's hard to believe that every single bottle the produce all goes through the one labeling machine! This place is expanding quickly and i bet within 10 years it's growing too big for the current site. I'll be going back here for sure in years to come to see how they're doing and to see if the cellar is in the blackened state that our guide mentioned it should be in after years of housing all that cyder!

Brilliant place. It was the first palce i had to come back to. When I arrived to cornwall loved the free samples you wouldnt need to buy anything. Only downfall food was abit overpriced. But would reccomend anyone who is visting Cornwall to go .

Very disappointing cream teas. We had one of the savoury cheese option and one of the normal sweet option. The savoury option came with one single slither of cheese, so not even enough to have a piece of cheese on each half of the scone! The amount of chutney was also pitiful, literally one tea spoon to cover both sides of the scone.
The site itself is very pleasant and my toddler greatly enjoyed all the animals.

Alright overall to occupy a couple of hours.

I enjoyed my visit: the staff was friendly, the tasters intriguing and I also managed to get a dairy free (even vegan) cake from the restaurant (although this felt slightly undercooked).
There isn't so much to see or much space to walk around.
I understand that the food selection at the restaurant might have been reduced after Covid. It's not ideal having to pay the entrance ticket even if you only want to visit the restaurant.

Used to go here every year when on holiday and was great, free entry and used to spend quite a bit in the shop, have a look around at the animals and get a bite to eat in the restaurant. It has always been a family tradition to go here, however to now charge to go in and put it down to Covid is ridiculous. We were in Cornwall last and did not visit for the first time in 10 years. Some more customers lost and looking at the recent comments we are not the only ones. Such a shame!

This place is awesome the cider is the best I've tasted anywhere it's real good for the kids too as they have a farm. It's free to enter but I think they charge for a tractor tour or something g like that. There is a cafe on site that sells awesome cream teas . If you like cider I highly recommend a visit and purchasing a few cases of the cider. The wine that is produced here is very nice to.

Due to now having to pay a admission charge we will not be visiting again which is a shame as we always bought a lot of cider and jam from you now cheaper just to buy from Asda you are going to lose a lot of customers with this pricing i mean lets face it there's nothing to do when your there apart from look at a few animals

Love visiting here whenever we come down to Cornwall. Always worth a visit to try the different ciders and stock up to take back home (most flavours aren t available locally anywhere else). Still open post Covid with one way systems and most attractions still open. Looking forward to our next visit!!

Nice enough place but no idea why they feel the need to charge to see a couple of old presses and a couple animals even if you get a pint chucked in, really not worth the money especially when the shop is so expensive and it takes about 10mins to walk round; they sell the same bottles in a well known supermarket 15mins down the road for two thirds the price.

Really great place to visit and the tour is fun and informative. Just don't buy anything in the gift shop. The cider is twice the price it is in the supermarket and it's made right there. The Cornwall beers are THREE times the price in Aldi. It's disgraceful really.

Planned to spend a day here after picking a leaflet up and looked forward to a cream tea as it was free, unless you do the tours,

What a wasted day and a way to cash in on the covid issues.
Think you will lost a lot of regular customers from what I've seen.
I actually give it 0 stars.

Six of us enjoyed a family visit to this interesting attraction yesterday (10-03-2020) and were impressed with what we saw.
We were made to feel very welcome by all the staff we met. The site certainly looks well cared for and properly maintained.
We opted for a guided tour with the most affable Jason who was able to explain the whole cider making process with plenty of interesting facts and figures mixed with good humour and anecdotes.
After the tour we enjoyed a meal in the restaurant which was good value in our opinion.

Healeys is a must do. Not only is there the great farm, animals, museum, and shop, but the restaurant makes locals come back time and time again.

The Sunday Roasts (when they are doing them, as they are sessional) are amazing. The roast itself is perfect, and the Desert (apple crumble) was the perfect apple crumble. All in all one of the best Sunday roasts in Cornwall.

The covid safety measures are very good and we felt very safe. There are hand washing stations around and social distancing markers.

The Museum (now a self guided one) is informative and interesting and ends with some tasting. Which is nice. There are videos playing in place of the guides.

The Shop is great with a wide range of products for all price points. You can also sample all of there products (most are free to try)

The Farm and animals are always fun to see and you do get to see some rare Cornish black pigs.

The tractor ride is a fun ride though the orchards and is informative.

So all in all, any time spent at Healeys is time well spent whether you are a tourist or a local.

Me, my girlfriend and our dog had a cider tasting experience which involved a tractor tour/site, various tasters, a free drink each and then access to the site farm etc.
Very good trip and value for money. Also nice to see how dog friendly and nice the staff are

Went up on thursday 16th August to have cream tea in honour of my mums birthday. Lost her last christmas and she loved cream tea! Was very busy but lovely sunny day. Restaurant was busy but we sat outside (until bombared by wasps after jam!!). Was amazing food and staff all lovely. My daughter took me and it was a sad day but happy too. Mum would have loved it there. Bought some gooseberry jam and OMG its amazing!!! Will be going up to buy more soon! Lucky only live in Redruth! Well done to all!!!

Great place to take little kids as it's free to get in and see the animals. There are tractor rides too which you do have to pay for.

The grown ups will probably prefer the guided tours, shop, tasting sessions and cafe.

All in all well worth popping in to take a look around. I think the only thing that would make it better would be a kids playground.

Best brewery we have ever visited. Would recommend this tour for anyone lovely food as well and cheaper than most local pubs. The amount of samples is more than enough. Make sure you do the tractor ride you ll get to see the buzzards that live on the farm.

We visited Healey's on our way home after a week in Cornwall in 2017. It definitely ended our trip on a high note.
First impressions were great... driving through small roads, you know you're surrounded by orchards, pull up in the car park and you're greeted with a huge focal point which is the visitor centre. The staff welcomed you with a smile and helpful suggestions on which tour (there's a couple) would best suit you. We were pushed for time due to the long drive home so we only did the basic tour. The longer tours, you do get to go around the orchards.

Without spoiling it too much, you start your tour through the family farm, and part of the cider making process through the generations. This takes you to their shop... You also get a chance (age permitting) to taste some of the newer products they sell, not all were alcohol though.

it was the first time we had heard of Rattles and we're very grateful that we did that week. It's a fantastic cider! Crisp without being too dry and sharp. We bought a batch home with us (along with a couple of mulled cider versions for Christmas). Their original Rattles hadn't reached the supermarkets back home yet so we had a head start. A month later they started appearing in shops. I started recommending them to friends and family.

If you can, I would suggest you call ahead and see if there is a coach party booked in. It's a working family farm (but on a bigger scale) so it's much more comfortable walking around in small(ish) groups.

Visited on 19/05/15. Very disappointing. Paid for the brief tour round the bottling/processing plant then found it wasn't working. Went off site and came back later, still not working. Had lunch in their restaurant and tried again, but plant still not working. Yet all the time they were still selling tickets for the viewing platform to watch their state of the art system NOT WORKING.
