A great hidden gem in the middle of nowhere. Super...
A great hidden gem in the middle of nowhere. Super friendly staff and amazing chocolate. Highly recommended.
A great hidden gem in the middle of nowhere. Super friendly staff and amazing chocolate. Highly recommended.
I am only reviewing the factory:
It was a nice surprise. The chocolate was not the most amazing I've ever had but was a nice addition to our day trip through the area. I would suggest buying the box of mixed truffles instead of the chocolate bars. Would I go out of my way to come here? No, but when I'm in the area, I will stop by.
Nice small local chocolate factory. Has a shop and cafe. Got delicious organic hazelnut spread and had lovely spicy hot chocolate in cafe. If you are on your atlantic way, pop in for nice break.
It was a good surprise to find this chocolate factory on the way to Cliffs of Moher, as well as delicious, we could see a production of chocolate, even homemade.
Tucked out of the way and off the beaten track but worth the visit. Chocolate factory, craft shop (woolens & pottery) and great coffee shop. All laid out beautifully and in lovely surroundings. Staff pleasant and helpful. Some items are expensive to purchase. Coffee and cake delicious (lemon meringue pie and cappuccino )
Gorgeous, quaint place, but high quality service and food.
If I could give this ten stars, I would! My husband and I were driving through the Burren on our way to Cliffs of Moher, and saw signs for this place. We quickly stopped in and WOW! the chocolate is so good and their story is awesome! We bought about 7 bars of chocolate; I wish that we'd bought 100! This is the best chocolate you will ever have!
Most of it was closed, the chocolate is E1. 50 per piece. Gift shop was very expensive also.
Amazing! The chocolate is exquisite, and the staff is exceptionally energetic and cheerful. Worth your time!
Dull, uninteresting poor attempt at serving coffee
Will not be visiting again.
Absolutely one of the best places in Galway! Very nice and helpful staff, delicous chocolate and coffee, amazing truffles. I will keep coming back, definetly recomend to stop by:)
Gem , but do not forget your 10cent. Bill of 28.10 and was asked if I had the 10cent when hand in 50euro. I said "thought you would give the 10c off" ...no had to hand over an extra 20c and she gave the change..... Not very costumer friendly in my view. Will not be going back in a hurry.
Liam.
Stumbled across this place while driving through the countryside. One of my favorite stops while visiting Ireland
The chocolates are delicious, but very expensive. So it's worth the trip if that's what you want. But I came for the hot chocolate, which also was expensive and was disappointingly average. I can make better at home.
The hot chocolates were ok. No revelation, the cafe is cozy and the cakes are delicious. Reputation and hefty prices but can hope for something more.
Cozy and beautiful place. Good chololate and good cakes.
Absolutely divine. A must visit place when down in Clare
This is a must stop on your way from the Corcomroe Abbey to Galway esp if you are passing thru the Burren.
Fresh cakes, and other desserts (gluten free). Teas, coffee and delightful hot chocolates. The chocolate factory was interesting as well as yummy! The tour guide was knowledgeable and quite the chocolatier.
Based on a recommendation from our server at B&B Petra House, we stopped at Hazel Mountsin Chocolate in the Burren. So happy we took the advice! Tee went directly to the chocolate factory building and were tempted by delicious samples of chocolate sourced from around the world and then roared and ground on site. This result ta in curated chocolate - sold in a variety of formats - bars, baking chocolate, hog cholicate, and individual filled chocolates (truffles and pralines).
Across from the chocolate factory, in a separate building, is the Mercantile, selling accessories such as chocolate melting pots and cups.
There is also a beautifully styled tea room serving delicious desserts and beverages.
We lived it so much, and had already eaten our small box of chocolates, that we had to stop in on the way back to Galway the next day! This time we made sure to enjoy a slice of a yummy tart with tea.
Staff were amazing both times we visited, and the decor and design ( including bags and logos, are spot on!!
If you are visiting the Burren, please stop by to pick up some chocolates and indulge in a baked treat - you won t regret it!
Lovely coffee and I recommend the chocolate with salt and walnuts..yum. Factory shop sells lovely truffles and bars of chocolate that have been made on site.
Great chocolate shop. We stopped by and we're offered samples of chocolate of different cocoa beans. The truffles were particularly tasty. There is a cafe attached that serves coffee and pastries. Be sure to pull over in the large lot downhill for a view of the ruined tower house.
We accidentally came across Hazel Mountain Chocolate and were delighted as the cafe is one of the best I have ever been to in Ireland. Great coffee and the most delicious cakes! There is also the chocolate factory (marshmallow chocolates a must) and a really nice gift shop with lovely Polish crockery. This is a gem of a place in the heart of the Burren!
Very characteristic place ... great coffee and above all cakes ... and delicious chocolates
This place is awesome. You can see them make the chocolate and the staff explains the whole process. The chocolate taste good and that is what matters most.
This place is a true 5 rating. The coffee was unnecessarily tasty and strong. The carrot cake, tea, and hot chocolate were likewise very good. The setting and service pleased as well.
Very enjoyable visit to this chocolate shop. The Hazel Mountain Chocolate Company has great tasting product and a wonderful company culture. Definitely try the cafe and coffee products as well. Some nice gift products in the gift shop as well. Restrooms on site and a nice break in the burren area of Ireland.
Not to be missed, a real treat for the taste buds and a warm welcome
In this amazing place we can see how can they cook chocolate and buy a lot of kind from chocolate by homemade. It's lovely.
Very nice...and the young lady in the coffee shop , who attended Keene State College, was very pleasant!!
Shop overpriced, and chaotic, in general. No price in a lot of items, one shop can only pay with credit card,so you need to go the other shop if you paying cash, one till and one staff..... The cakes even if are home made are expensive considering also the service you get and also only one available from the menu'.... The hot chocolate is far overpriced.
Came here for some tea on the way from The Burren Nature Sanctuary as it was raining quite badly and we had to take shelter from the rain.
It s odd that such a lovely little place is so smack in the middle of nowhere. The interiors are very warm and inviting, almost like someone s living room.
I had the carrot cake which was a ginormous portion. The hot chocolates seem like a meal in itself so I would choose one or the other!
Afterwards we wandered around to see the chocolate store and got a small box of hand selected chocolates to take back.
Recommend if you re in the area, especially if there is bad weather!
bought nearly every chocolate bar, taste so good, would definitely go back, worth a visit
Fun to watch the chocolate makers at work. Odd place for it but I'm sure the tourist trade is part of that reason.
The setting is great, chocolate is very good although on the pricey side. Was disappointed recently with the cafe - quite expensive ( 5.70 for a slice of cake!) and the coffee could be better. Worth a trip if you're touring around the burren
Awesome place for the perfect stopover on the way to the cliff of mohers from Galway
Poor not worth the trip
Will stick to Butlers
Found this little hidden gem when we were lost, trying to find the way to Poulnabrone Dolmen. Temperature was like 6 or 8 degree celsius (felt like 0 with the strong wind), so the hot chocolate tasted extra delicious! Also had a slice of orange syrup sponge cake which went well with our drinks. They had a little bean-to-bar workshop behind the cafe, selling chocolate bars with 50%, 70%, 90% cocoa from a varieties of origins. Got a few bars which were good as souvenir.
Fabulous experience. The man working, explaining about the chocolate was both knowledgeable and enjoyable.
Nigel was a chocolate expert, both informative and engaging. His knowledge and passion for the process and fine details of the product were of the level you'd expect from an art connoisseur. The chocolate was mind-blowing. The cafe was adorable. We highly recommend this stop!
The cakes are just amazing. We only went to the shop and the cafe. Had some lemon and camomile tea cake, it was super tasty!
Fantastic chocolate in a stunning place. The cakes are homemade and delicious.
Was looking forward to visiting the place but I have to say I was bit disappointed.
We ve ordered Spiced Praline and Salted Honey Hot Chocolates and slice of Chocolate cake. The Salted Honey hot chocolate was tasty and the spiced praline for somehow average.
However the chocolate cake was real let down as it tasted dry, bit tasteless and generally below average which was surprising considering the presentation (see photo). Considering the way above average prices charged I was expecting quality to match the price. I quite liked the tea/chocolate serving set (looks like it is the pottery from Boleslawiec) but the content itself not so sure.
The place itself was cosy and maybe I just got there on a bad day.
Best coffe in the area and cookies to die for. I totally recommend them!!!!
Great service, friendly staff, great tea and carrot cake.
If you happen to pass it in the direction of Limerick, an interesting stop. We actually already had it from Dublin to Galway on the list, but didn't make it and when we drove from Galway to Limerick it suddenly came! Here you can enjoy a coffee or a hot chocolate and watch chocolate production for free at two stations. We were also allowed to try a piece. Unfortunately, we couldn't take anything with us as a souvenir, as that was just the beginning of our trip and we always had between 21 and 25 degrees.
Coolest little spot quite literally in the middle of no-where! Lovely coffee & cakes. You can see the chocolate being made through a big window in the shop! A must see if you're in the area. The costal scenery on the way is breathtaking!
not very sociable and understanding with foreigners
Best chocolate I've ever had. Cute and clean. Very knowledgeable and willing to educate. Free samples were top notch!
Go. Here. Make the stop! Was a great impromptu stop, with delicious hand made deserts, teas, hot chocolates, and chocolate made from bean to bar!!
Some of the best Chocolate I ve ever had.
Cute stop for a sweet treat and cup of coffee. You get to watch the process through a glass in the shop!
This is a small chocolate factory tucked away in the depths of Ireland.
The basic chocolate flavors are good. I didn't like the experimental flavors, but support them trying to come up with new flavors. Also, they're big on pushing "organic" which is a gigantic scam and a huge drain on important resources, so I'm compelled to give only a mediocre review.
We came for chocolate, and stayed for lunch, desert, and hot chocolate!
Great dining experience and really good food. Go here!
I've been here a few times now when I'm bringing friends or visitors to the Burden as it's a convenient location and one of the fee places to get good food when on the way unless you stop in one of the town's where it's usually quite busy.
And it's a real mixed bag of experiences. In the chocolate shop there is an older gentleman who works there, didn't catch his name but he is excellent. Warm , friendly and knowledgeable I really enjoyed chatting with him.
But the cafe is another story. The staff could at best be said to be bad at their job, at worst pretty much rude or condescending.
The young lad that took our order seemed like it was the first time he had ever written something on a page let alone taken an order. And of course it was wrong.
The rest of them quite frankly don't seem to give a s$%t about anyone whether it's busy or quiet. They seem to think they're saving lives not selling chocolate products and we should be thankful to them for letting us be there.
I'll probably go again because the food and the hot chocolates are good but they badly need a whole new set of cafe staff.
Very limited range, for drinks and cakes could do with doing sandwiches or other light snacks. We didn't stay for anything because of the wait time and when I looked the light above our table was full of dust and cobwebs. Factory shop was interesting and to watch actually making the chocolate was a delight.
If you love chocolate, this is a chocolate heaven. If you do not like chocolate you will still get lots of enjoyment from visiting.
Great visit, amazing to see how they make chocolate from the coco bean. I have been to other bean bar producers in the US and you would pay twice as much for half as nice chocolate. Great stop well worth it. Try get there before 4.30pm, as it get dark early in west of Ireland.
Very passionate owner, great chocolate you can really tastw the difference!
Amazing chocolate makers. The cafe is one of thr best I've been to in Ireland.
On our way to Cliff of Moher, we accidentally discovered this good place - Hazel Mountain Chocolate. At here, you can experience the making process of real chocolate. The staff there is patiently to show and explain how they make the chocolate from the raw material even you can taste some chocolates made there. The chocolate really tastes good compared with normal chocolate which we can buy from the supermarket. However, i feel like the chocolate a bit pricey and thus only bought few.
Sweet little chocolate. Prices are higher than in the supermarket but it's worth it. The cafe is not and well visited. Fantastic view !!!!!
Cakes were inedible and the coffee was very bitter. Even the kids hot chocolate was left, you know it's bad when the kids don't finish a hot chocolate. Very disappointing considering how expensive it is.
This is really the sweetest temptation since there is chocolate
Beautiful and very interesting place to visit. Spotlessly clean and very professional run. Was treated to a very interesting lecture on how chocolate is made. Well worth a visit.
Very cool spot we were told about by a native. Lots of good candy in display, a room with the old candy making equipment, and a room where they currently make candy. I also got a hot chocolate and it was one of the best drinks I had during my visit!
Do yourself a favor and take a little detour to get to Hazel Mountain Chocolate. Incredible chocolate, coffee, and desserts. Well worth the drive!
Great visit with the kids. Got factory tour and chocolate samples. Very interesting. Beautiful chocolates.
My sister and I consider ourselves chocolate snobs, so we were excited to find this place. Our visit started out great, in the chocolate shop, with a friendly tour from one of the staff members. After buying some chocolates (without More
Free samples, knowledgeable host, make sure you get some of the Madagascan bean with lemon!
Wow! Absolutely delicious. What a treasure, I m glad we happened upon it on our drive. We tried a variety of their products and ended up buying some for later. The staff were all so friendly and helpful
U get to see how they make chocolate and you can sit in the organic cafe and have hot chocolate and much more.
An amazing chocolate factory where you will get a personal tour with a history behind it. And of course chocolate tastes amazing. Next to the factory is a nice caffe where you can grab a cup of coffee or nice cacao.
