Nice to see them open again, but still doing scheduled pick ups if online shopping is more your style! Powell's is the best bookstore, and the smaller Hawthorne location is a great stop for books and gifts!

I do like the Powell's on Burnside of course, but I love the small, cozy setting of the Powell's on Hawthorne. It has plenty of reading choices available without it being so overwhelming. The cafe also plays great music.

I enjoy everything Powell's & will go there even when I don't have a particular book in mind- for the pleasure of feasting my eyes on cards, stationery, kitchen, garden, bath, meditation, baby & child items, delightful, helpful chotchkes & tools- whether for gifting or sheer enjoyment & relaxation!

Smaller than the main store downtown, but nonetheless great selection of books. It s so nice to have a local branch, can walk there, and browse the old fashioned way for books in a relaxing atmosphere. They do accept books at this branch as well.

I bring books here to sell. I've brought in 4 boxes worth some never even read. I leave with 3 1/2 still full. Some staff are cool others kinda snobby and one creepy. Better than dealing with smelly downtown.

Awesome little place. While not as expansive as Powell's main location downtown, this shop has a charm all its own. Here you'll find books, posters, some home decor, and an assortment of random knick knacks and souvenirs. Staff is knowledgeable and warm, and the vibe is calm and inviting. Park on a residential side street nearby, as Hawthorne is a busy thoroughfare and parking can be iffy. On my last visit I picked up a couple of loose prints that I plan to frame for under $20. Great place with something for just about everybody.

LOVE this location over the one downtown. You can actually browse the aisles and not feel like you're going to get pushed around by tourists. Staff is super friendly and knowledgable. Selection is great.

I like this place a bit more than the main store on Burnside. Good selection, less overwhelming / crowded, and the Cafe is a nice place to hang out, if a bit small. Of course, for hard to find books, I'd still go to the Burnside store.

Aside from the downtown Powell's, this is my favorite place to be. It's bigger than you might think because the store goes really far back and there are many sections tucked away out of sight from the front. That makes it fun to explore and get lost in the stacks and find gems.

Good mix of used and new, friendly staff, and places to sit. There's a cafe attached that is also a favorite. You can indeed takes books in there to read and then drop them off at the cart.

Great Powell's location with an awesome Fresh Pot tucked inside. They host events for the writers that might not make headlines, but are really well known in their own circles. Great game section, and a nicely curated Buddhist book section as well.

This is my favorite Powells. It's the perfect size, with a great selection of books, and lots of other little book knick knacks that you didn't even know you wanted. I always get lost in a world of books here.

If you love books you'll love Powell's. Although smaller than the downtown location, the selection of books and gifts is vast. The sistet cookbook store just a few doors down is worth the visit as well.

If you are a lover of books and bookstores, you better plan on spending at the very least, a few hours here. It is well laid out and information can be easily found on where you need to visit next. I visit every time we go to Portland and its been worth it every trip. You may want to narrow down the areas you want to search while you are there because you will get easily sidetracked!! Tons of fun....

Great selection of books and gift items. The staff was super helpful when I was trying to find a certain title.

It's a great place to spend some time while the rest of the family is walking Hawthorne. There is a nice cafe attached where you can read your newfound literature.
