Hale Center Theater Orem Review

The shows here are always extremely well done. It is a very small venue but they are very creative with how they use the space and make great use of technology. I've never seen a bad show! I highly recommend.

Amazing theater. I know that it's an old building and that they're working on a new one, but I'm always going to miss the experience of literally sitting on the stage and having to lean back so the dancers and actors have room to work. Best theater I've ever been in. I'm constantly amazed at how they are able to fit such amazing productions in such a small space. It's inspiring.

The million dollar quartet production is fantastic!

They put on fantastic plays in the round. They sure make good use of the small space.

Nice little community type theater. A but too cozy at times. They always perform well and give a great show. Get there early to get parking.

A Christmas Carol is the best performance of this Dicken's classic I've ever seen. The play moves along quickly without losing any of the detail or flavor of Dicken's writings. Well acted and stage settings well designed and I was amazed at how quickly and quietly objects were moved on and off stage. Costumes were also well designed and detailed; very attractive. The acting was superb! The musical opportunities enhanced rather than overwhelmed the movement of the play. BRAVO!!!

I love the intimate setting for plays. I am almost always amazed by performances.

Best theater in Utah county. Every show I've been to has been amazing. Their theater in the round includes every audience member, and the talent they attract is amazing.

The performances and talent are always amazing. Unbelievably high quality. I am always surprised at the talent that live in the area. The only drawback to this the and her is its facility. It is very old and not well kept. Not enough bathroom facilities. The seats are uncomfortable and too close together. Yet I continue to go time after time because the performances are unequaled anywhere in the state

For many years they have entertained us. We keep coming back because of the quality!

The plays are always great entertainment. However this experience left me with a bad taste in my mouth. Let me explain.

It was not the play. It was the hypocrisy of the establishment. Posted out in the parking lot and in the foyer are signs. These sign say.. masksb must be worn at all times by all people. ... Maintain social distancing 6 feet apart.
So when the play started guess what the actors were not wearing masks. And it was a sell out performance so everyone was sitting shoulder to shoulder. So when I removed my mask an employee came over and told me to put it back on at that time I asked him if he noticed the hypocrisy inside the theater. He looked at me and said. And I quote. We maintain and conform to all CDC guidelines. Needless to say I kept my mask off..
Oh the hypocrisy of people who don't understand the truth.

It is much smaller than the one in SLC, but the pricing is SO MUCH BETTER, plus,refreshments come to You! -no standing in a forever long line during intermission! I went to see A Christmas Carol and I absolutely loved the atmosphere, the new songs and the differences. WILL DEFINITELY GO AGAIN AND AGAIN!

Its a great up close and personal experience to a theater experience. We enjoy going when we can. Everytime we have gone they do a great job. It is reasonably priced for a night out. There is decent on site free parking, a small selection of candy and Coke products, and the seats are for the most part comfortable. Glad to see they are building a new establishment but sad to see the up close and personal experience go.

Always amazed at how so much can be done in such a small space. The Little Mermaid was outstanding! I brought three teenage boys and they were so impressed by how well this Disney classic was portrayed. A must see!

Their productions are amazing and are very moving (both comically and dramatically). The actors are truly talented.

It's cute, but the stairs to the green room are always noisy during the show. The concession is a bit sad, too. We got wassail that was cold, and a sticky Snickers.

It's a small room so you feel very involved in the show. The actors were phenomenal. The room just got super hot during the performance.

The production quality is great and I love how close the stage is to the audience. The actors regularly interact with the audience which is a very nice touch.

I love this venue. It is cosey and close to the stage. The productions are wonderful and they do great work here. If you haven't been to one of their plays, you are missing out. They are reasonable priced and typically cost about $24 to $30 per ticket. There is a concessions area as well as a drinking fountain if you don't want to purchase a drink. There is plenty of parking, especially on the south side of the building.

The homely feel as well as the high quality make this a very worthwhile trip.

The Hale Center Theater is a fun, family-friendly theater that always puts on excellent productions! My husband and I just saw "A Christmas Carol" there and LOVED it!! Highly recommend!

In every show I've seen here, the acting and singing have been phenomenal.

My wife and I love shows there at Hale theater in Orem.

My favorite place to watch a play. I've never been to a play where the audience is so close to the actors. It's fun.

Throughly Modern Millie was delightful. However 2 characters talked mostly in a foreign language and the English translation was projected onto the back wall of the theater. From our seats we were unable to clearly see the projection so we missed the jokes and funny things those 2 characters said.

This is a classic place for a lot of Orem residents, much smaller venue then the one in draper, but the quality of performances are just as good. The people who perform here love theater and make it very enjoyable for their audience. I've never had a bad experience here, they have a good selection during each season. Tickets sell fast. Their are a few awkward spots, but even then you can still see from each viewpoint.

A Christmas Carol is a family tradition! Its not Christmas without it!

Saw the play The importance of being Earnest. This is my favorite play venue. The plays are always excellent quality, and the venue is so small that you feel a part of the show more than any other location I have been to.

We saw this play on New Years Eve and loved it then and we came to see it again tonight, Feb, 1st and loved it even more. We luv all the plays. Sometimes we come and see them for a second time, Good clean plays.!!!!

Every play we have seen has been wondeful from start to finish.

We went to see the musical Newsies and it was excellently done! Awesome choreography! This theater always does wonderful productions. The stage is a circle and it is a VERY intimate space, small with very little seating. The front row of seats is right up against the stage and often gets charcters standing right in front of their face. There is not a lot of stage tricks, but the directors always do well with what they got. The building is old and rickety too. Dress is casual typically, though some dress up semi formal.

Super community theatre! Direction, tech, performers, all working together so we'll. Seamless experience for me.

Great performance and really fun. The entertainment is worth the cramped spacing of seats.

I am always so impressed at the quality of the productions at HCTO. While certainly a small space, it is great to be right there with the actors and performers.

My wife and I have season tickets. We love coming. I seem to always have lower expectations because it's such a small production. BUT I am always blown away how good the plays are and how much fun I have. I also have a ton of fun just watching the older crowd that comes to the shows. They older crowd laugh their heads off. But I love coming and will continue to come until I'm part of the older crowd.

I ve been a season ticket holders for years and have enjoyed most of the plays and the intimate setting. The actors are hard working and delightful. Not impressed with management. Tried to get a credit for my son s ticket since he needed emergency surgery the day of the play, and they were very unhelpful. The rest of the family attended and witnessed a Down syndrome girl get kicked out at intermission for not being able to keep a mask on. She has special needs and was away from people not in her party. A little compassion and understanding would go far.

UPDATE: I did call and talk to Brooke, and she confirmed their policy of no refunds but issued a gift certificate for the value of the ticket. This was basically what I asked for in the first place, so I am pleased with this. Seems like their communication within the company could be better

The quality of productions and amazes me. They transform a small stage into something spectacular every time.

I love anywhere that does live theatre. Charlie's Aunt was particularly good.

I went to the play Kiss and Tell on the evening of Saturday Feb. 8th 2014, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The actors and actresses were so great ! It was an extremely wonderful experience ! Great Work ! I hope to go again sometime to another performance at your theater ! Thank you all for sharing with us !

All, All of their plays and musicals are great.
However, on this last play they had great vocalists but there were innuendos of strong language.

The show was outstanding....very well cast. Set design and lighting was supurb. Loved being so close to actors. You feel like you're really "there" in the story! Thank you!!!

Some of the best entertainment for the money in Utah! Musicals are fantastic with an abundance of local talent. I highly recommend a night out here.

Went and saw Newsies and I was amazed at the quality of the performance. It's a very small theater so no bad seats. If you want to experience a Broadway production without the Broadway price go here you won't be disappointed!

I saw both Tarzan and the Little Mermaid! Great venue with a fantastic cast. I must visit!

Great performance. Expensive but worth it for quality. Too many of the same old shoes year after year tho. Scrooge EVERY YEAR is way too often.
