Recently I had Hafers install a muzzle brake on one rifle and shorten the barrel on another. The work was done in a very timely manner and at a price I felt was very fair. Visually the work appears top notch and the mods look as though they came from the factory. I can't wait to get to the range. Anyone looking for a gunsmith I would highly recommend Hafers. I'm already planning my next project.

We have never been to your new location and we dont plan to. Her review was based on an experience at your old location and suggesting she's a liar further validates your ignorance. I had given some thought about visiting your new store recnently but after reading your responses to some of the reviews, its clear to me that nothing has changed. So In conclusion. My review is; your overpriced, unfriendly, and lack overall customer service skills. "I wish you the best!" Again this is my review (not "retaliation") on Tim Hafer himself and to my knowledge the current owner. Not on the current store or employees. Also the old location sold firearms.Im not sure why you would say it was just a gunsmith? Even if Hafer wasnt the owner of the old location, he was there every time I visited. Based on how you reponded to my review and other bad reviews i would say their still hasnt been any customer service/relations improvements.

For starters I am new to pistols. My husband brought me to Hafer's to purchase one. The staff were awesome with showing me many different kinds of pistols and explaining lots of important things to think about when picking one. I finally settled on my first pistol, a Springfield 1911 9mm. I will admit I was very nervous about even shooting it on my own. So I sat up 2 private sessions with Mr. Tim Hafer himself. He was extremely patient and very informative. I picked up a lot of information that will definitely help me handle and fire my pistol safely. I highly recommend stopping in to visit them if you are ever in the market to purchase a pistol. 1 sweet pistol + great training info (and a dash of customizing) = 1 happy pistol toting girl!!! I recently purchased 2 Glocks from Hafer's and I couldn't be happier. Some gun stores treat you like a customer #, but Hafer's treats you like a friend. At a time when handguns are hard to get in general, they somehow have the large inventory that they advertise to have and their prices are more than fair, when quite frankly, it's a sellers market. It's obvious that they have a great deal of integrity. I will be buying Glock #3 from Hafer's very soon.
Stopped in the gun shop for some ammo just to shoot in the new year and already got plans to go back. Not only did I get ammo but the team is extremely nice and helpful, very knowledgable and many capabilities. Best gun shop I've ever been exposed to, going back soon for sure, a 5 star by far!!

I recently purchased a firearm at Hafer's. I'm new to the area and was nervous about such an important transaction, as I take firearms very seriously. I originally came in to browse for my Marine son's wedding gift. I chose one item and was not 100% it was what I wanted for him. The friendly, knowledgeable staff had me put it on hold for a few days while I confirmed whether or not it was the right choice. As it happened, my son had hoped for a shotgun and not a rifle, so the staff once again went through their vast inventory, explained how they also had online purchasing options and they reviewed the laws for MD and PA (I'm a new PA resident) and how the purchase and transporting regulations related to me in gifting my purchase. Then I was advised on the optimum ammo to complement my purchase.
I will not only go back again for my own needs, but I have encouraged numerous others to avail themselves of the ample stock and collective expertise of this shop and their staff. I already have plans to have the shot gun customized and the work I was shown was unparalleled. I highly recommend Hafer's.

Having Hafer's install a scope mount and scope to my Springfield M1a1. Treated me fair on price and time to get job done. Have had several items taken care of by them in the past and have had no complaints, and have always been treated fairly.

Got a fair trade in for my Sig-Saur 380 for a Sig-Saur 320- 9, which included the larger magizines, as a retired Law Enforcement Officer. Later a brought a 22 cal rife for groundhogs, at a very reasonable price. I will continue to by from Hafer's in the future.

What a refreshing change this is a top-notch place and the staff is most friendly and knowledgeable. And the biggest thing being a black man so many times I have gone into gun shops and all of a sudden the tone of the place changes I didn't experience that here good people.

There are several gun shops in the area, but none of them come close to the selection, service, honesty and integrity of this place. The staff is extremely knowledgeable about anything firearms related from HQL training to Reloading and everything in between. And enough firearm to compete with the big box stores. If they don't have it, they go out of their way to help find it. QUALITY gunsmith work. (They are normally backed up due to the volume of clients but are well worth the wait)

Nice selection but was treated like an idiot. I have over 20 years experience as a gunsmith. The owner was rude and acted like I was a bother. The other employees were nice and willing to help in any way. The prices are a bit high and would never buy something there to support the owner whos acted like he was better than everyone else. I have never felt so disrespected by a store owner.

FANTASTIC customer service. As a female I was mentally prepped to be talking to a male and was pleasantly surprised to converse with another female (Becca then later Sierra) who were very well versed on weapons. I explained the parameters of what I needed, how quickly I needed it and politely wondered if they would really call me within two weeks,....eight days later I returned to make my first purchase ever. I will definitely be returning to conduct more business with them. FIVE plus rating!

Every time I go into Hafers I am treated like a friend. That says a lot to me. I hate going into a place, and we have all had this experience, where getting someone to talk to you is like pulling teeth and when they do answer its like you are bothering them, especially your first time there. I can remember my first visit actually where without even trying I was greeted by every staff member! That does not happen in many places at all.
I am a C&R 03 FFL and I cant wait to visit and see what 50 year plus firearms they routinely aquire to provide to customers like me that have small family collections of firearms and gear used in the great and and small struggles around the world. It is a way of providing a living, working set of firearms carried into battle by courageous men and women that changed history. We provide these firearms for the public and service members to fire at range days and they always come away with a respect for the people that carried these into battle!
What sold me is the first time I walked in I was treated like I had been going there for years.
They are very knowledgeable and offer an expert gunsmithing service.
I am a retired LEO (SpcOps, Major Crimes/Fugitive Unit, SERT team, police instructor, gear/firearm evaluator, detective) NRA Instructor and RSO and still shoot and compete as often as I can and I really enjoy going here. Seriously, try them and you will see. I rarely give a glowing report on a place but I really do enjoy going to Hafer s. Its the way things used to be. I am going there again very soon to actually look at finding a rifle for my son, a US Marine Sgt, as a gift for returning from another long deployment and can come home for only a short time.
If they do not have it, Hafers can find or build that firearm that you keep for a lifetime and pass down the family line.
Again, this sounds like an ad instead of a review BUT I would not give a great review if the selection and service were not absolutely top notch. When I retired from my police career, I seriously happened on Hafers pretty much accidentally. I saw their ad along with the big chain stores and such and one day was driving by, passed it, and just HAD to turn around and stop in. The exterior is nice and unassuming but when you walk in WOW! Its not like other places where nearly everything is behind the counter or locked up, as I said before, this place is welcoming and you walk through rows of firearms, ammo and gear. Yes, there are more behind the counter BUT you are always envited to step back there to look at MORE rows of rifles and shotguns arranged for easy viewing and taking them down to check them out. The display cases are FULL of new and preowned handguns just waiting for you. It is a real sportsmans and shooters place.
I am now looking for a another small ccw pistol AND some older C&R rifles which they always have a great variety of as well as the amazing modern stuff. As I said about ammo prices there also are about the best around, not only for a full service shop but I find ammo cheaper than W.....t! Its nice to have a small collection but you need to feed them too!

Tim Hafer is the rudest most ignorant person I have ever dealt with. When asking about a wood arm for my shotgun instead of assisting me he asks me why. Because it is my weapon and what I want. He is rude, abrupt & entitled. I will never return & often let other people know of my terrible experience. Beware especially women of dealing with this gun store. They will treat you like an idiot!

A buddy of mine at Ft Detrick Army Base suggested I give Hafer's shop a try for my gun passion/ needs. I admit -not much of a people person/ going out to shop kind of guy. So to get a good feel of the shop I called inquiring about Keltec and AR -15 options that I needed. A gentleman by the name of Evan answered the phone, I could tell he was in the middle of doing something, still he was very friendly polite and patiently answered all my questions. I decided to check Hafer's out in person last night 22 June 2017 and stayed there longer than I had anticipated, I enjoyed exploring their shop and seeing the selection of merchandise that they carried the owner and staff were extremely patient, helpful, friendly informative pertaining gun laws and professional, not pushy and willing to order what they didn't have in stock.
I was very impressed that i bought some accessories I needed and I will be purchasing my next two rifles from them this coming week.
If I had more time I could say a lot more pertaining to Hafer's excellence in caring for their customer.

Hafer's gun shop was found by a cancer fundraiser they participated in. So I didn't win but thought I would see if they would help someone who was a beginner. Excellent choice. Did not make me feel uncomfortable because of limited knowledge, but were ready to help and teach anything I wanted to know about handguns. Highly reccommend for beginners!!!!!!
