I did the Maryland HQL here & purchased a sweet Springfield 9mm. Everyone was extremely helpful and patient with me. We continue to buy our ammo here and refer others too!

These guys are great and super helpful. I bought some ammo and a great optic. You didn t hear this from me, but they gave me the Amazon prices. No gouging here. A+. I not a Maryland resident but this is my spot when I m in this area.

Went in looking to buy a pistol, was very very busy inside and could barely walk around with all the people. Not sure if it was the time of day or what. Finally managed to make it towards the display cases of pistols that was surrounded by everyone else. Stood there for 30 minutes with same people being helped at the counter with no end in sight. Looked to be everyone just talking and nobody had intentions to buy (from what I watched for 30 minutes). Did not get spoken to by an employee one time the whole time I was there even though they could clearly see me behind the other people at counter. Looked online for other gun shops close by and there was one right down the road. Left out of there and went to clear spring gun shop just 5 more minutes down the road. Was greeted as soon as I walked in the door even though they were helping other customers. All employees there were friendly and knew what they were talking about and helped me as well as the other customers in a manageable time frame. Definitley will be coming back to them for any future firearm purchases. Will NEVER go back to Hafers nor would I recommend it to anyone. Take the extra 5 minutes to drive down the road and head to clear spring gun shop. Top notch service.

What a great group of people! I've been multiple times and everyone who I have spoken to was helpful, knowledgeable, and very easy to talk to.

I purchased a subpossibly new Omega Ramrod from Hafer's. I phoned when i got but they closed early new years eve so I left a message about the rod begin too short as I tried it in the loaded gun and it disappeared in the barrel. As my messaged stated I would be down thursday 1-2-14. Upon entering the store to see about correcting the problem I was told I had a problem with Thompson Center not him. He then procedded to call me a liar, I had broken the rod and it was not his problem to refund the forty dollars. He then told me to get out off his store. I have never been treated so unproffesionaly in my entire life. My great concern was that if I had used that rod to load my gun it would have been a few inches short of seating which could have caused a huge explosion. This shows the real character of the store. I will be calling TC next as I feel he has no busness representing their exquipment. Not to mention a total disregar for ones safety. I have an eight year old daughter whos dad could have got his face blew off.

Wow just purchased a 380 Smith and Wesson easy slide from TJ . Absolutely the best and friendly service I've ever had. Amazing ppl there at Haffers. Can't say enough good things about them. Ooooh yes I will be back oh yes I will!!!!!! Thank you all so much!!

I live about 35 minutes away with a firearm store across the street from my house. Not an exaggeration. I still prefer to take the drive to Hafers because of their attitudes and assistance. They have helped me with reloading information and other things without making me feel small for not being as knowledgeable as other people. Thank you!

The only place I would ever buy a gun from! The staff is very knowledgeable and listens to you! I bought my first gun from them and it was easy and painless. Even have a custom rifle from them and it was everything I hoped for and more! Go check them out for any of your firearm, ammo, accessories, or reloading needs! By far the Best Gun Smith in Western Maryland I have heard that other gun shops take him work!! Great Selection and always willing to help and answer questions. I have had several jobs done on my rifles by Tim and I am always happy with the final product. A great experience and great price.

Before coming to Hafer's I have never even considered owning or even touching a firearm. A change of circumstance has made me think other wise. I reached out to Hafer's for information on what steps I needed to take in order to purchase the correct firearm for me. Not only did I choose the perfect firearm They informed me and trained me the proper way. They were very patient and detailed when explaining how to properly use my firearm. When I need to buy my husband a gift I always go to Hafer's. All the staff are friendly and knowledgeable about all their stock. They don't harass you by upselling items either. They tell you the facts with NO BS. This is the ONLY place I will buy my guns.

Took my dads lever action to get repaired and they did an amazing job. The place was packed and they still took the time to make sure they asked everyone if they needed help. Apart from guns and ammo flying off the shelf they still had a great selection would deffinitly recommend

On 5/27/2017 my wife purchased a Sig Sauer MPX Handgun for my 61st Birthday. Due to her limited knowledge of firearms she made the purchase though a reputable on-line retailer with good reviews. The next day she received an e-mail stating her order would be delivered to the closest participating dealer of Sig Sauer Products (Hafer's Gunsmithing) where I could go, Complete the required paperwork and take delivery of the handgun. On Monday May 29th she received a phone call from Tim Hafer President of Hafer's Guns. He informed her that he had that specific Handgun in stock and could sell it to her at a reduced price from what she had paid on line. He said he could facilitate a full refund of her deposit (500.67) from The Shooting Store where she had purchased the handgun but would need a deposit on the handgun he had in stock if she wished to purchase it (A deposit of 1000.00 was taken by Mr Hafer over the phone. On June 5th my wife and I visited Hafer's Guns to complete the transaction. It had been many years since I last Purchased a handgun and I was surprised to learn I not only had to pass the Federal Background check but also posess a permit from the Maryland State Police. The Salesman said the State Permit could be secured in about a month and provided instructions on how to proceed. He then said the balance of the purchase would have to be paid before we left (1014.00) My wife paid the balance in cash and we went home. When we arrived at home I asked my wife for the copy of the reciept for the payment she had made. She then informed me that she was not provided with a receipt from the original 1000.00 deposit or the 1014.00 payment she had just made on the handgun. I submitted my application to the Maryland State Police for my HQL (Handgun Qualification License) and waited. On June 13th my wife reached out to Mr. Hafer about the status of her original 500.00 deposit that she had made initially to order the handgun from The Shooting Store that Mr. Hafer said he would have returned (no response) On July 5th my wife e-mailed Mr. Hafer to request a copy of her receipt. (no response). After 2 months waiting for my Handgun Qualification License I reaches out to the Maryland State Police about it's status. I was told they had no record of my application or my fingerprint admission although my application fee had been charged. (They said re-apply) Dismayed by this I decided not to purchase the handgun. I then requested a refund of my deposit was informed that all sales are final as stated on the receipt. (never provided) and I would be subject to a 25% re-stocking fee. I contend that the practices of Hafer's Guns are Un-Lawful, Preditory and Deceptive as I was denied a copy of the receipt and charged for a product I never ordered or took delivery of. I demand a refund of the 25% re-stocking fee charged to me of 503.50. PS, I have sent thousands of dollars worth of business elsewhere and will continue to do so. I hope it was worth it

Went in for to look at an AR but I ended up buying a pistol for myself. They had a great selection of hand guns and were amazing in helping me choose what would be perfect for me. I ended up getting a glock 43 which I love and they had an abundance of holsters for me to choose from as well. Great helpful and friendly staff! Would highly recommend!!

Tim and Beca patiently spent several hours working with me to find the hand gun to fit my needs and my limited experience with firearms. After watching me handle and aim many guns from their incredible inventory, changing my grip and carefully watching me, Tim suggested that perhaps I start shooting left handed rather that right (my dominant hand). After purchasing my Glock 19, Tim took me to the range and provided me such great instruction (teaching me to shoot left handed) that I was able to put 5 rounds in the bullseye and nearly 30 rounds grouped in center target in less than an hour's instruction!

My wife was looking for a handgun for home protection. We all know Tim's thoughts... Get a 12 gauge... My wife was not to keen on that and wanted something a little smaller. Tim took the time and worked with her to find the right fit for her. I have sent friends and family to Tim without a second thought. He is kind, easy to talk with, funny and an overall great guy.

I always have questions and send him notes on Facebook. Tim is always willing to take time from his busy day to answer my questions

Hafer's was recommended to me by a friend and I decided to go visit Tim. I was pretty well amazed by the selections he had in shop.

Hafer's also offers a wide range of classes. I completed the ladies only handgun course and learned a TON from the class. The hands on experience was awesome and the instructor Tim G was great.

I have bought multiple firearms from Hafer's and have had pleasant experiences every time. I stop at the shop on the way to the local Izaak Walton league for targets or whatever I may need.

The staff at Hafer's go above and beyond to help. They are all very knowledgeable and will help you select a firearm that will fit you best. They are definitely a great bunch of people to do business with, and I will continue to patronize this local business!

Took a savage rifle in for trigger and scope work that another gunsmith didn't do so well. Tim did a great job and the price was great as well. Anyone thats looking for custom work these guys are it!

Response... The laptop was provided by a member of your staff, but it was kept sideways so I couldn't see it well or access it. Nor was i asked if I wanted to sign up. When discussing the regulations, I asked what the difference between the rifle and pistol was and the response was "one is long and the other you can hold in your hand". I knew at that point, being female was a factor. So I just asked how I could sign up for a HQL class and left.

Always stop in if I have time when I m the area. One of the best shops.

Been stopping in here for awhile now. I live outside of Annapolis and make the drive to them (1 1/2 hr). Why because they have what I want/need . Always had positive experience in the place . Friday and Saturday I have learned they are busy , lots of people. There are shops by me but for me this is a one stop shop . Parts , pieces , ammo , ect....

I've been a customer of Hafer's for quite a few years and have never had a bad experience. Purchased my sons first hunting rifle there, multiple handguns and rifles, custom builds and had some work done as well and always pleased with the experience. Tim and his staff are top notch and a pleasure to work with.

This gun store has a lot of guns to choose from. In addition to that also a lot of accessories as well. The workers here are very helpful and insightful on guns and laws. If you're looking for your next gun or just want to browse, I recommend coming here.

The people were friendly and did a terrific job of making my wife feel comfortable entering a firearm store. She never would step foot in one prior to this. After my experience, she felt at ease and realized that people working at gun shops can be courteous and not condescending to novices. (She actually entered a shop by herself yesterday). The Henry rifle they sold me was great, and the prices were good for a brick & mortar shop. The person there even took the time to help me create a user ID at the MD State Police site. There was no rush to get us out of the store. I'd definitely use them again.
