When an opportunity arises to recognize regardless of praise; or that of constructive alignments (in this case the former) provides opportunity for a third and unbiased view of the mentioning structurals.

Gurney's Star Island :
Personnel(s) Appreciation -

I must say, the strikingly inviting aroma;all the while mannered appropriately cordial, was comforting. Their eager intentions to accommodate reflected - most profoundly.

Love the warm welcoming and their gratitude of our return for another staycation!

My Husband and I been staying here for many years. And the location is why we go back.We come here to relax but lately seem to be leaving frustrated and unhappy with the experience. Lately The staff is very young unprofessional interns and customer service is non existent . Simple things, such as visiting the restaurant Scarpetta, Valet, The beach area etc always seems to be disorganized, UNPROFESSIONAL, Passive aggressive and lacking direction from management. There's so many people on staff, however everyone seems lost for answers and confused or in another world. For The amount of money they charge a night and as a repeat guest I expect compident, professional and friendly service. Im writing this review because we love going to visit Gurneys, but if they don't step up their game, Its Very disappointed but unfortunately its not worth spending my money here.

The staff was friendly but everything we ordered took 40 minutes to one hour to get to us and we had to constantly be after them. Then the cherry on the cake is that at 3pm they ran out of ice completely in the whole venue. Its 4pm now and still no ice. Unacceptable for a summer spot.

This place is overrated. The partial view rooms do not allow any view of the ocean unless you keep your window open and have no privacy. Perhaps the rooms on the second floor might have some partial view. The rooms are ok and our room had stains and a hole in the carpet.

The staff is very friendly, nice, and accommodating. The location is great. A lot of the food we had was excellent, while other meals were just okay. And I realize that things, understandably have to have different standards with the pandemic. However, they have over booked and can not accommodate all guests as they should. We waited 2 hours past checkin for our room. They kept telling us it will be ready soon so we wasted 2 hours of our weekend away sitting in the lobby. It would have been nice if they at least told us how long the wait would be so we could do something else.

We got a cottage but were unaware of how far the cottage was to the main building. We have someone with asthma who struggled with the hill. The room is nice however, not in the best condition.

We tried to get a spot on the beach by the main building to enjoy lunch and cocktails. However there were no available chairs so we had to walk back to the residences near our room to get a free chair. No one helped us at the beach there. We had to get our own umbrella and dig a hole with our hands to get it to stand.

We made reservations for the fire pit. Then we were called an hour later saying that they could not accommodate us, but we could come before 10 and we would most likely be seated. Yet, when we got there at 8:30 we were turned away once again. Meanwhile another of our party was using the bathroom and overheard two girls doing cocaine in the stall next to her. On top of that they were holding up the line.

Overall, I don t think it is worth the amount we paid and I am disappointed in the experience.

It's worth every cent. It's very very expensive, but this is justified by the quality of the food, the accommodations and especially the service. We just had an absolutely flawless weekend. Thank you.

This is a slice of heaven on Long Island! Beautiful water views of rolling waves seen from most points within the restaurants, lobby, common areas. The new-ish oceanfront rooms are lovely. Relaxing by the firepit on the porch was perfect during the cold spell in April. If you want to enjoy this upscale retreat but can't afford the summer prices, definitely come during early spring for their spa packages. For those who have trouble with steps, know there are lots of them, as the resort is built into the bluff. The elevator is not convenient but overall it's worth it & as a plus you get some real time "stairmaster" exercise. The spa will be overhauled, for it is a bit dated, construction due to start this winter. For custom massage, definitely ask for Gayle, she is wonderful. Loved the rose aromatherapy treatment, the rose geranium fragrance was pure and delightful. Make sure to take a dip in the heated jetted tub followed by the indoor cool seawater pool. End your stay with an ocean view pedicure with the fab massage chair, that's a perfect finale!

BEYOND attentive! Our Ocean View terrace room was exquisite! Service was impeccable! Chantel kept the room impeccably clean. The best part of our stay were the people: Johnny Arceri, our cabana boy, set up our chairs and checked in on all day!! He was so sweet! Our beach servers, Natalie, Holly, and Michelle were ANAZING!!! We were so thankful for their attention to our needs! The clothes Gurneys has at their beach boutique are so versatile: gauzy dresses, cozy sweatshirts! Lauren, who manages the shop, will help you select the right one! Grant s eye for security detail, along with Trinidad, Ryan and Jamal had us feeling so safe! Last but not least, our dear Nicholas! He not only carried our bags, but DROVE us out to dinner, a spectacular service Gurneys provides. For dining, we ate at Scarpetta each night. Ben, the Somme, gave us suggestions for each meal. The manager, Avery checked on us, making sure all details were on point with service. And JM, was also so attentive!! Will, who buses and folds the napkins was so friendly too! Best vaca ever!

I was disappointed, to say the least. The price we were charged to stay in this resort, plus the overpriced and unprecedented resort fee, was not worth our experience and is robbery. We upgraded to a room prior to coming that would not face the parking lot, and would have a beautiful ocean view, which it did. However, the building itself was run down and looked like a shack that could collapse at any minute. It was the junkiest structure on the property, obviously not maintained or taken care of at all.

Our room had a balcony that had uncomfortable chairs, stained, and a barbed wire fence blocking the view as opposed to the nice boat wire and wood balconies on every single other building on the property. Even the most basic rooms had better accommodations. The interior had dust on the AC unit, and bugs flying around. There was sand on the floor from the second we checked in, and the couch had stains on it. The in-room coffee pot did not work. We called to have it replaced and they said they would send us complimentary coffee for the morning and replace it when they clean the room later that day. They sent us the coffee with a bill I then had to call and complain about to get removed from my room charges. The next morning we went to make a complimentary coffee to enjoy on our balcony with what we thought was a new coffee pot. It was not replaced and once again, no complimentary coffee. We called down to the desk to let them know that once again we did not have ability to have coffee. Her solution was that the housekeeper would bring a replacement later in the day. Needless to say, we had to leave the room and our only option was a $9 coffee in the lobby. Broken promises.
The resort fee you are charging is absurd. For that price, I can t say we received more than towels and a water bottle per day. There were no happenings. There were no events, no spa, and nothing that we could pinpoint our resort money going toward. I understand Covid brings restrictions, however, the resort fee should reflect that. Especially because it was also off season.
We also felt as though we were treated poorly at times, and that those who were staying in more expensive rooms would get better treatment. Our first night at the fire pit we were asked to move for another couple that the hostess said she was holding seats for. Isn t the fire pit first come first serve? The last night at dinner, we asked to be seated by a heater. We were then seated at a table without a heater, while there was one empty table behind us with a heater. When asked if we could use that heater, they said only if no one came and sat at that table within 20 minutes they would be able to move it. Why is the heater not first come first serve? Why didn t we get the spot at the table with the heater? If someone had come and sat there after the fact, would we have been robbed of the heater we had recently gotten moved? Poor treatment.

The service was poor. We would be sitting at the fire pit or beach club for long periods of time while the workers just walked around on their phones. It was not busy. Once we got their attention, getting the check at completion was another challenge. Chasing them down for a cup of water or a check took forever. We even had to send drinks back for tasting so poorly. For the price of the alcohol, we expected more. In addition to the horrible service, the attire was absurd. Workers either walked around in barely any clothes at all, or in pajama-like outfits. For a resort of this price, we expected professionalism rather than women walking around wirh no bra or their shirts unbuttoned to their belly buttons. Others wore sweatpants and sweatshirts. And this is a place where French fries cost $15?
It also took 20 mins to get the shower to a decently comfortable temperature to shower in. It required running the water for 20 minutes from the shower and both faucets in the room.
Paper thin walls as well. heard everything- kept me awake.
Wont recommend.

Visit gurney resort for the first time I come from Florida and it was the worst valet experience ever . Staff was very rude and unprofessional, valet took so long to get my vehicle. I also filed a complaint of my Vehicle being crashed and I contacted the owner and nothing was done about it .

The staff is amazing and friendly and remember your name. The rooms are amazing with comfortable beds and great pillows. The service is great. But the biggest draw for me is hearing the ocean from my bed. Love being able to sit on the patio and see and hear the ocean.

We found This resort to be unfriendly, pompous & severely overrated. Once we located the lobby, nobody seemed concerned that we had trouble finding out where we should enter. We did learn the random places not to park, but little else useful signage. The lobby & desk area was cluttered & dusty. Apparently, there had been a never ending leak in the ceiling that showed a bandaid approach to fixing the problem. The damp, mouldy smell was apparent & nauseating.

So far, this so-called top rated hotel is blatantly not giving their guests value for our money, & we reached our rooms yet. Once we were taken to our rooms, neither one smelled as though it had been aired out recently. It was as though the same dank, wet smell followed us to our rooms. My first stop was the bathroom. Since it s essential that this room is clean & the toilet is spotless. I took tissues & ran them under the rim. No one had cleaned it. Disappointed, I was ready to leave. Business Circumstances prevented us of doing just that. I don t mind paying top dollar for housing, but I expect to get what I pay for at those prices. There s no excuse for any less. We travel with UV lights that reveal overlooked housekeeping details with little effort. The hair & stains in & on the bed were apparent. This spoiled the whole damn trip. Little was done by management to resolve these issues, so it was a uncomfortable day & a half stay because the issues weren t taken seriously. When we returned home, we immediately removed this travesty of a accommodation from our corporate listing for housing anywhere near your establishment as possible places for our executives or guests to stay. I won t waste anymore of our time giving examples of how disfunctional this family owned tradition is.

We would ve been better served if we d stayed in their adjacent spa. But we d have to be able to cope with the overwhelming smell of clorine & mildew on the tile walls & stalls. Most services carry high, extra surcharges, further making this place nothing more than a glorified tourist trap. Thank goodness for your competition. Gurneys Hotel is a disgrace. The public should know beforehand.

Gurney's is the best place to stay in the Hamptons. Ocean front rooms and spectacular views.

The service is stellar. Specifically, Andre in security, he went out of his way, above and beyond, to locate my hat that went missing.

Gurney's loyal for life!

A decent roman spa with a salt water pool and decent area's to relax. Some might find it upsetting while lounging on the semi private outside deck, as it only offers a peak at the ocean outside of the spa area. Then there are others who feel the salt water pool is too cold. In my experience, heating a salt water pool could be great for pasta. To the local who has seen it all, Gurneys is a great place to chillax while you wait for friends or clients to finish up their day in Montauk whether you're a hotel guest or not!

Wish there was zero option. This is a tourist trap, and low quality, i don't understand how this place is rated for 4 stars. So bad, ee checked in and was given keys to a different persons room. Nothing like in Covid times to walk into someone else room and space. The room we did receive was on dirty, and the ac smells like mold and mildew. The mirrors looks like it never been cleaned. Overall The hotel is dated and the service doesn't deserve the rating nor the price.

Right when we pulled up, the valet crashed someone's luggage onto our car . No apology from management. The service is slow. I was pregnant and they gave me the farthest dirtiest room from everything and when I asked to change rooms, they told us to wait and it's not guaranteed. For the amount they charged they are ok nothing spectacular.

Just got married at Gurney's this July and I could not have been more pleased with the event that they put together for me and my husband. Ginny, the wedding planner was outstanding. She was on top of everything and made the day completely stress free. The staff at the spa were amazing too and did a wonderful job with my hair and makeup. I had a great time and so did my guests. I would get married there every year if I could!

They apparently renovated this place, and it's right on the water, so that's a plus, but it's very far out on Long Island and to me, not worth the trek. Went to a "pool party," but there was no pool! The drinks at the downstairs bar were strong and you can sit outside and watch the ocean. Check it out if you're in the area, otherwise, don't.

Gurneys is absolutely breathtaking! We were lucky enough to shoot a wedding here and even around Christmas it took our breaths away. We were able to make use of their outdoor space which was absolutely perfect for the brides first reveal! We can honestly go on and on about the decorated lighthouse, the romantic swing with a water view, the beach, the outdoor fire pit, etc. It was the drone footage we were able to take of the lighthouse that really breathed life into the video! We absolutely love this venue and hope they love NuView Weddings as well!

We had a great time at Gurney's. The staff was more than accommodating and went out of their way to make sure our stay was as great as can be.

The only downfall was that there was constant contstruction going on that kind of took away from our getaway experience.

Other than that, it was a nice relaxing way to get away from the city.
