Had the pleasure of staying at Gurney s as part of a production and really enjoyed my time there. With the little free time I had I took full advantage of the salt water pool as well as the sauna, steam room, and hot tub. It was a nice relaxing night with room service before shooting the next day in a nor easter snow storm. The staff was all very friendly and went above and beyond to make sure our crew was taken care of. The views of the ocean from the rooms were amazing and even just walking around the property was inspiring. I d love to come back during the summer!

Staff was attentive and professional. They really knew the area. Our flight was late getting in so we checked in quite late. We received a free upgrade to a nicer room which was much appreciated. The restaurant was pricey with small portions but the food was good. The spa was clean but not very extensive. The best part was the view, absolutely stunning. Would stay again.

Nice place. Rather pretentious but it is The Hamptons... The staff was very kind and helpful. The amenities are limited, but If you need a weekend away you'll likely be pleased with the experience.

Honestly I m not one to leave reviews but our experience was not worth the money at all. I have had better stays at holiday inns. Drinks are way over priced, and not enjoyable. The food is sub par at best. The only good thing about this place is the nice staff. Better spend your money on something else. Very boring place as well

We had a great drink at gurneys - but we had the most terrible valet experience that ruined our night. They lost our car, refused to acknowledge they lost it, failed to look for it, and then tried to blame us for causing the issue in the first place. The whole ordeal took 30 minutes.

The food here is absolutely superb, as are the drinks and the wine selection. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and do everything they can to make you feel comfortable and welcome. I highly recommend coming here for dinner and drinks. Save room for dessert! It's exquisite!

We arrived for a 3 day get away. My twin and I checked into room 705. The beach was 112 stairs away. This place is not for anyone with any physical restrictions. Was advised the in room service was wonderful however, nobody answered the phone when we called and we could not find a menu or map of services anywhere. No drink service at pool? Air conditioner (wall unit) was loud and rattling. If you are used to a five star with central air this is not the place for you. If you are used to a five star with central air this is not the place for you. Views great, however you are paying for Montauk. Resort was over priced and not a usual 5 star resort.

This past weekend May 7, 2016 we had our daughters wedding at
Gurneys. It was beyond fantastic. The new renovated setting speaks for itself, but having the tent for our ceremony and cocktail hour in the Regent room was perfect due to the not so perfect weather.
The food was absolutely fabulous. We ordered the raw bar and pasta
station for the cocktail hour and our guests are still talking about the size
of the shrimp....
The ballroom was great and we set up stations instead of a regular sit
down dinner. Our guests loved it...Ginny Davis is the jewel of Gurneys.
She is a professional party planner who knows her business. I appreciated her all the more since we were in the party business for 20 + years and know when we see a real star. She guided us, suggested things to us, and was there 100%....It not often you find someone some so dedicated ....Thank you Gurneys for making such a spectacular wedding !

Horrible in every way. Drove hours to go there for lunch with my wife, I could not park my own very exotic car, Valet only or leave.... I left. Called to speak with the manager, was promised a call back shortly as he was busy... never heard back.

GURNEYS ROBBED ME OF $200 BECAUSE OF THEIR ERROR. I MADE A RESERVATION FOR TWO PEOPLE FOR THEIR NEW YEARS EVE PARTY AND WHEN I ARRIVED THERE WAS ONLY ONE TICKET AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS THEIR ERROR AND THEY WOULD BE FIXING IT. UPON CHECKOUT I WAS INFORMED THAT I HAD A BALANCE OF $200 BECAUSE I NEEDED AN EXTRA TICKET (WHEN I HAD MADE A RESERVATION FOR TWO PEOPLE??? WHO NEEDS ONLY ONE TICKET WHEN THERES A RESERVATION FOR TWO PEOPLE???) THEY HAVE TOLD ME THEY CAN DO NOTHING ABOUT THIS AND DO NOT CARE THAT THEY ROBBED A 23 YEAR OLD OF $200. I WOULD NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN IF YOU PAID ME. THEY ARE A BUNCH OF CROOKS. DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU'RE WILLING TO PAY CLOSE TO $1000 FOR ONE NIGHT BECAUSE OF THEIR MISTAKES.

Very very nice place on earth. Great staff that shares their enthusiasm for working at such a wonderful place. The outdoor bar with the fire pit is outstanding. Hammocks on deck. Large beach. Two terrific restaurants (Tillies and Scarpetta). This is a must visit.

Holy smokes, what a place! Services, facilities, staff, are all top notch. Well worth the exorbitant prices. Save up some money and try out the restaurant or the spa services. You won't regret it. Of course there's always the ultimate, staying at the resort for a couple of days. You'll be paying a lot, but you'll leave with a smile.

Horrible! Jersey Shore crowd, run down rooms and bedbugs!

I spent 2 nights at the spa during Memorial Day weekend last summer and what I mistake I made. I expected to leave NY City and get some rest and relaxation but instead I ended up in the middle of the Jersey Shore!! There were non-stop parties with 300-400 drunks inside and another party on the beach. I even saw people urinating in the bushes! We complained to the manager and she hung up on me 3 times. I demanded my money back but was told that there was nothing they can do. They said that they rented the place to a NY party promoter for every weekend this summer and if I didn't like it to just leave. I have been coming here for 15 years and will never return again!!
Also, on our drive home my husband began to itch all over his body and we had to go straight to CVS in East Hampton to get him a body wash for bedbugs!!
Stay away from this place unless your name is Snooky or the Situation!

I love Gurney's. It's my relaxing vacation spot. All the changes they've made over the last few years have made it very very "posh"/"premium". Though, I do miss the fire pit nights without music, and the ridiculously expensive Cabana minimums when it's empty on a Friday. I also think Scarpetta is overrated.

We should ve read the reviews before we got here. Clearly they have many rooms that are infested by bugs and other insects (see previous posts). We were bitten by bed bugs, which the staff doesn t seem too concerned by. This is definitely not a 4 star establishment. The bathroom floors were sticky throughout our stay, even after I asked housekeeping to clean the room several times. The rooms have an odor of a chemical cleaner. The pipes in the bathroom, are running loudly all night. The A/C is loud and leaking. I m beyond confused by how the hotel industry has claimed this hotel a 4 star establishment. Additionally, they have no pool or spa (as it is being renovated) and you are unable to sit in any common area, without ordering food, due to Covid procedures. All in all, I would advice staying clear of this establishment.

Update: the horror continues. We woke up to shattered glass all over the floor. A light bulb exploded. I have since added more photos for reviewers to see.

This was a cool place to include while your in Montauk, even if you dont stay here they have a great restaurant and a cool little coffee shop where you can grab and go and enjoy the outdoor patio with an excellent ocean view. I prefer off season when the patio fire pits are going and you got something warm in your hands. Cool vibe all the year around.

Spent the day at the beach club for my girlfriends bachelorette and it was the best time EVER! Not only is the resort gorgeous, but the service is phenomenal as well! The day bed was great, as were the food and drink. Fish tacos and chicken sandwich are highly recommended by our party! The beach is beautiful: so picturesque. This place is pricey for sure but oh so much fun!

Came here for New Year s Day and stayed over. Very beautiful room and views. We rented an Igloo before dinner for drinks and appetizers. We got room service and rented a movie before falling asleep. I thought everything was good just not great food wise. Room service options were limited and I got the crispy chicken sandwich that was pretty burnt. Other than that great time.

Well the gall of this place to charge a 20% resort...

Well the gall of this place to charge a 20% resort fee? I encourage the Manager to defend this! I have seen a flat fee before, but when you make it a percentage it is no longer a fee, but rather an additional tax on the guest because the hotel want to hide fees. The logic makes no sense either, if I book an oceanview room for $400, I pay $80 to use the resort, but I splurge and get an oceanfront room $800 the fee to use the resort now cost me $160. Since when did "luxury" resorts start pricing like Spirit airline (without the discount). If you are charging a "resort fee" to use the "resort" why no also charge a bed fee? maybe a toilet fee? I find the whole practice of resort fees to be abhorrent and a disingenuous practice of deceptive in the lodging business, but Gurney's takes it to a whole new level. Have some confidence in your product and price it where you think it should be and don't hide BS fees onto your guests. Staying here in the winter it makes even less sense, as there is very little resort to enjoy. The indoor pool and "spa" is similar to what you would find at a mid-tier gym in the city.

I have been coming to Montauk with my family for 27 years and so I am planning my wedding at Gurney's. They completely re-decorated and renovated, so it is not dark and nautical anymore- quite the opposite. It is beachy, airy, more modern- an all-around gorgeous space. We stayed for lunch and the food was delicious. The view is also breathtaking. We met with Ginny who is one of the ladies in charge of weddings, and she was an absolute delight. We are so looking forward to getting married there!!!

We had an amazing stay once again at Gurney's. We stayed in our favorite ocean front room which met every expectation yet again. Nicholas our bellman was delightful and attentive during our entire stay. Gregory our bartender made us feel at home with conversation and unique knowledge. Thanks again Gurney's Montauk

The updated Gurney's was a downer for us.

The updated Gurney's was a downer for us.
There were three high points: the stellar Italian Restaurant, friendly staff, and the vintage books placed around. Also, they did a good job updating the room terraces.
Everything else seemed geared for flash over comfort.
Our designer bathroom had no towel bars, and no place to hang wet swimsuits. The worst was the shower. It was only partially enclosed, so water flooded out all over the bathroom floor.
It was winter, and our heater was loud. The heater from the room next door blasted like a heavy bass.
Our designer room felt cramped and awkward.
Shelves were crammed with over-priced food for sale. 3/4 of the space in the tiny refrigerator is stuffed with over-priced drinks. $4.00 for a can of coke.
A gross moment in the spa was noticing water dripping from the overhead ventilation into the hot tub.
I'll stop here, and just say that we used to love coming to Gurney's twice a year.
The family resort is gone.
Now, it's a corporate investment.
After this winter, we have no desire to ever go back.

No matter what the weather or season Gurneys never disappoints.
This past week we had a little family getaway. Weather wasn t that great but from the time we pulled up at the valet until the time we left, the staff made us feel relaxed and happy.
Gurney s staff is so friendly and organized. They are doing a great job following the Covid protocol seamlessly without making their guests feel like anything has changed, which is a big plus when you re vacationing. The common areas are always decorated seasonally and for holidays as well. The Halloween theme this week was fantastic! Big coo was that the whales were feeding right off the beach in front of our suite!
Mike Nenner made us feel so welcomed when we arrived and Cindy Babyak in reservations is the best when it comes to organizing your stay, especially when you have a large group as we have had on occasion. Ginny Davis is the pearl in the oyster. She was a blessing as our bridal coordinator when our daughter married there last year and she still does not cease to amaze us when we visit Gurney s. The staff has made us feel like family.
Food is second to none! Thank you Chef for our delicious meals in Scarpetta Beach and yummy appetizers out at the fire pit.
We highly recommend Gurneys Inn Montauk for your wedding, your next business meeting or next family getaway!!!
We will be back soon,
The Sarnicola, Lucas families

Shout out to the blonde hostess over labor day weekend not knowing how to do her job. A line of about 15 people waiting to get it the outside area. I finally asked what the hold up was (I saw other people going in). She said you had to be a hotel guest to get in the outside area. How did you not notice a huge line to the right of you waiting? She didn't even acknowledge us or ask us any questions. I would never stay here or visit here again. Hire more competent alert staff lol.
