Beautiful resort. Very relaxing if you enjoy the oceanfront atmosphere. The food onsite was very good, as was the service. Feels like the spa could use a bit of a facelift though. There were few signs explaining what things were and how to use them.

Overall, it seems like this place needs some renovation.

The stay started with confusion - the parking is valet only and somehow guests are supposed to know that without any signs indicating this. Next, the check-in process was smooth but later I found out I had a hotel package with a food credit that I never used because no one ever explained that I had this.

Our room was upgraded to the oceanfront room that had an amazing view. The interior was well decorated and the bed was very comfortable. Glad at least something went right with this stay.

For the food/beverage at the hotel - Scarpetta was amazing, Corso had terrible coffee and Tillies had the most overpriced food imaginable. However, service was great at all of these places.

The spa was probably the most disappointing part of all of this - although the spa attendants were wonderful, the lack of maintenance is really starting to show. Not only was the men's jacuzzi not working, but the women's jacuzzi had some strange rust looking substance dripping from the ceiling into the pool. It was apparent they tried to cover this up by painting over the rust also. Additionally - the seawater pool was at an uncomfortably cold temperature our entire stay, although I did hear they had just done a water change.

Lastly I forgot my scarf and realized this very quickly after leaving the hotel. I called the hotel to see if they can retrieve it and they informed me if it was found, I would receive a call back. For the money I spent on the hotel and spa services, I would think finding a scarf wouldn't be a problem. Guess not.

I would definitely recommend coming here to eat at Scarpetta and then quickly leaving.

This is a beautiful location, but so disappointed in the quality of the lunch offerings. The bread that my friend had for lunch for his sandwich was stale and as hard as a hockey puck. If you can't serve fresh bread for a sandwich, it should be taken off of the menu for that day. I will say that the management was very responsive in trying to rectify the situation, but when you are hungery, you just want a good meal so our experience was ruined. As a high end resort, the food could have been better.

Well..beware..my family stayed in Montauk for the weekend..
They decided to go to gurneys for lunch before heading home..
When they got home they realized they were missing a bag from the car
It turns out that the valet stole the bag out of the car..there really wasn't any valuables in the bag..so they left it outside in the street.
My family called the resuraunt and told us they found the bag and apologized for the thievery..my brother in law had to drive back to Montauk that night to go an pick up the bag after coming all the way back home..3 hours out of his way..this is uncalled for..and stuff like this shouldn't happen...just beware if you go to gurneys

This luxurious resort currently has no access to several amenities they would typically offer including their world-renown spa, gym facility and their indoor pool. However, staying at their two-bedroom cottage with panoramic views of the ocean tends to make up for any perceived shortcomings due to the pandemic.

The staff down by the beaches, i.e. Eric, was very rude to us as guests and spoke in a condescending way. As a place that deals with costumer service it was disappointing to see the lack of respect for guests. We ended up leaving and going to another local beach instead of giving our business to Gurneys.

Gurney's Montauk Resort & Seawater Spa is possibly the most amazing resort I've ever been to. Their beaches are spectacular, the food is divine, the hotel rooms are immaculate, and the service they provide to each guest is of the utmost care. I have only good things to say about Gurney's, and I hope everyone gets the chance to visit there.

What's the point in asking if your guests are celebrating a special occasion if you aren't even going to acknowledge it? Also the most over-rated food I've ever had in my life. If you want to spend 800$ on a hotel room go on vacation somewhere else. Not to mention the website lies saying an ocean view but i had a wonderful view of their parking lot and my car I was forced to valet. Also dont harass your guest because they are an NYPD officer. I regret wasting my money on this place. Not the real Montauk.

had dinner which was over priced and waited for my car from the valet for over an hour. When they finally admitted to losing our key they made us wait another forty minutes for a ride home. Despicable! Will never return!

Gurney's is always the perfect place to stay when you are in Montauk but it is at its best in the winter. Something about the crisp beach air and the tasteful but not overwhelming holiday touches make Gurney's feel truly magical. The staff throughout the hotel are always friendly and warm. While you're there, don't forget to have at least one meal at the restaurant on site - it has been redone in the past few years and is excellent. If you would rather try other great spots nearby, the courtesy car from the hotel is a great alternative to waiting hours for an Uber.

Positives- great views, beautiful beach, nice public spaces, nice gym, great fire pit with DJ, lovely valet guys, good food and terrific ocean water pool.

Negatives- hugely outweigh the positives. Unfriendly and not proactive staff that never smiles, very slow service everywhere (food, ice, checking in for dinner (a 20 min line!), etc), overbooked and undermanned all weekend, standard oceanfront room looks like a Motel 8 with Mandarin Oriental pricing, $160 resort fee (for what exactly?!), thin floors, super busy with weddings both nights, etc.

A few waitresses and one of the bartenders really great but they were the exceptions. Manager was pleasant and understanding of issues.

Over crowded place with the potential to be relaxing. Loud music was being played all day by the beach. The music was being played by Gurney's not Gurney's guests. The help at the beach was subpar and we had 2 broken umbrellas. The parking lot was hectic and very crowded. For the price it's not worth it, you could just fly to Europe at that point.

This was a horrible experience. We arrived at 5pm and was told by the hostess that there were no tables available till 10pm. The whole Restaurant was EMPTY!!! The manager was excellent. He got us a table outside on the deck. It was a cold night but bearable. The food was ok but the selection was small and portions were small. It was very pricey. I most likely will not go back.

The overall hotel is beautifully designed. The restaurant in it was amazing with fantastic seafood. The beach is very clean private and not crowded. The public service was great. It's very KID FRIENDLY! there was s'mores campfire every evening. So cute! I gave 4 stars because of the bathroom room we stayed in the new section was not really well designed. There was no robe hook/towel bar(to hang towels) and no toilet paper holder! The toilet paper rolls were sitting freely on the ADA grab bar and kept falling onto the wet floor.
What a cheap strange designed bathroom for the price we paid! It's a beach front hotel and we need lots of towels from washing sand out, etc. Maybe they were in hurry to open it before they should have completely installed bathroom accessories.

We stopped by for lunch at a restaurant called Tillie's. The atmosphere and decor were clean and upscale. The food was amazing! Service was quick as well. After lunch, we went down to the beach (about 100 feet from the restaurant) and relaxed. Great place overall.

Horrible experience. Do not trust the website to give accurate information even spoke to a representative before I made reservations did not get it all what I expected. The room we were given was the equivalent of a bad motel room it smelled, wallpaper peeling, scratches on the floor. The view was an over green evergreen we were supposed to have an ocean view and we shared what was converted as a walkway to what they call a terrorist that is shared with our neighbors and anybody walking by. We were here for my daughter s 18th birthday supposed to stay four nights we left after one night and asked for a refund for the remainder of the trip.

the beach is gorgeous and the room is nice but they told us we would have an ocean view and there was a huge tent in front of our room so we couldn't even see the ocean. The room was also not very clean and the toilet did not work. They did try to accommodate us to move us to a new room but it was kind of late and we decided to leave the hotel instead and go back to New York. For the price of this hotel I expected more.

Horrible experience here. If you stay here, do yourself a favor, and watch your credit card statement like a hawk! My credit card statement is a record of all the errors they made in charging me; first we were charged a breakfast we never ate. Ok, that happens,we were able to get it removed. Next they told us they were going to refund us some money for a room upgrade we shouldn't have paid for, two days later they are charging us that money back! There is no transparency or clarity and no accountability for the mistakes they make. When I finally spoke to someone in accounting I found another fraudulent bar charge we might not have caught if we hadn't been vigilant because of the mysterious charges and refund activities. Also, make sure you double check what to expect as far as services, rates and deals. We were told over the phone that we would be getting a 20% discount on spa services as per the winter rate. That is part of the reason we chose to stay at the Gurney. When we arrived we were told that was simply not that case. At no point did anyone at the Gurney attempt to make any amends for the multiple mistakes they made. In fact, we only got the run around every time we asked to speak to a manager about the miscommunications. When I called about the inexplicable list of charges and refunds showing up on my credit card (a week after my stay) they still tried to tell me no one was in to take my concerns; it was up to me to push them just to try to get my concerns addressed. What kind of place makes so many mistakes and doesn't even apologize or make any attempt to make up for it? I have never written a negative review about anywhere before, but this customer service was just terrible.

We didn't stay at the resort but we did eat at the restaurant Scapetta Beach. Let me tell you something, the meals my wife and I had were spectacular in every single way. I can't say enough about the food. The staff were probably the nicest most helpful service employees I've ever had the good fortune to meet. Do yourself a favor and get to this restaurant ASAP. Life is too short to not treat yourself to this experience.

GURNEYS! Please stop using plastic bottles in your hotel rooms and at beach club. You should switch to Just Water or Voss glass bottles etc. You are an OCEAN front hotel and you are using so much plastic which is ruining the health of the oceans. It s shocking and in such bad taste that you haven t switched already. I urge you to do the right thing and be more eco friendly like many other resorts.

The only nice thing about the rooms at the Gurney s is the view. Extremely overpriced for what it has to offer and on top of all the staff is rude and they all seem to have forgotten how to smile. The restaurant is sold out but nobody suggested we should make a reservation for dinner at check in.

Incredibly dissatisfied with the service I received at this facility. The employees were very rude consistently; even when asked a simple question about the resort and amenities. The staff here are incredibly biased to only their wealthiest customers. I will not be returning here.

Gurney's Inn boasts a fantastic location, perched on a cliff overlooking the ocean. Snag a room on the first floor; beach-side and equipped with lounge chairs, these are exactly what you want for a trip to the beach. There are three-level cottages as well; they easily sleep several people and though set back a bit further are probably the best rooms offered. Overall, though, Gurney's is unimpressive. The hotel is quite dated and showing its age; a musty odor permeates many of the common areas, the dining room in particular. It's in desperate need of a makeover. There is no glamor or luxury to be had here. Rooms and amenities are very basic; you really only come for the location. Cell service is unheard of on any provider; make sure your loved ones know you're ok before electronically disappearing. Service is ok; friendly though painfully slow across the board: reception, concierge, valet/shuttle, bartender, banquet servers. Come with your expectations adjusted accordingly and with your eyes on the prize: sun, sand, saltwater.

Gurney's is a very beautiful place and very expensive, probably the most expensive resort on Long Island. But management doesn't care about the health and safety of their guest. They were looking for a facility manager and when the most experienced person showed up With many proven years of assuring the health and safety of residents he was refused the job because they refuse to pay a decent wage. They hire workers mostly made up of homeless illegals they put them up in local flop houses and feed them scraps from the kitchen Management only wants low skilled low paid workers not caring about the health and safety of the guest
The sad part is Gurney's is making a ton of money for example I ate there a few nights ago I was with 3 people the bill came to over $500 the food was okay but the portions were so small that we left and were still hungry,

I took my wife here and we loved it. Although it is very expensive and the room wasn't very well appointed (I think we had an "Oceanfront King"), it is the only decent hotel on the beach in this area, and the amenities are awesome. The restaurant is great. The bar is great. The beachside bar is great. The whole place had a fashionable, upbeat vibe that we loved.

Beware!! If you don't stay in the "updated" part of the resort, you might as well save your money and travel to Schitt's Creek. Room 707 should be taken out of circulation. We woke up both mornings covered in bugs. The walls of the outside structure are all rotted and many species of bugs come and go. It seems the bugs enjoy sleeping in the room at night (in the bed) and going to the beach by day. We called the front desk and nobody called us back. The service is terrible. Room service came cold and without utensils/coffee. Nobody there seemed to care. In fact, room service said they were busy. The building where we stayed was very far from the beach/nice part of hotel. To access the main resort, you have to traverse an up and down mess of broken down buildings and staircases. I recommend that Keith Morrison from Dateline do a special on this place. I am not sure how Gurney's is getting away with this. I would not go back if they paid me. Thanks for ruining my wife's 40th birthday.
