Beautiful, we are in 1250 and we are witnessing the construction of a castle live live with the means of the time!
And it is not a reproduction, it's a real, with all the materials from the place, stones and wood of course, but also the iron is prodigious!
And the workers are friendly and eager to share their knowledge and experience.
General atmosphere very friendly.

Although the parking lot was full when we arrived, we were able to see all the workshops and the castle in good conditions.
People who work are always happy to answer questions, it's informative and fun.
The toilets were clean from morning to night which is always appreciated.
On the other hand, I recommend to take your meal, spaces are available to eat. We ate there, the wait was long, the prices high, and it was frankly bad: we ordered fries and had a kind of big potatoes bathed in oil: there were several millimeters of oil at the bottom of the container. Restaurant tickets are not accepted.

Entertaining and interesting castle and village, however, the restaurant is overpriced and does not correspond to the menu. Example: a "punnet of fries" at 3.50 which turn out to be 4 quart of potatoes cooked with some spices

This is a fascinating reenactment of history. I love the concept and how it teaches the grueling task of medieval construction. Good food choices are available and the site is generally easy to navigate. That said, visitors must consider this is a working construction area. Those with mobility issues will not be able to see everything, and everyone will get dirty at some point.

Site very well developed. Too much waiting at the checkouts, can do better !!! No priority funds: people with reduced mobility or pregnant women. High price but understandable given the quality and maintenance of the place.
Possibility of indoor and outdoor pic nic and possibility of going out and coming back in the park.

We really like what has been done on the site. Each profession has its location, numerous demonstrations. The castle is built slowly. I had been there 16 years ago when the 1st stones were emerging from the earth. It is shady. Fun and pleasant walk.

Guedelon is a wonderful project!

Guedelon is a wonderful project!
Well worth a look. The village presenting the different trades is almost more interesting than the construction of the castle itself.
I strongly recommend taking a guided tour to understand all the intricacies of this wonderful site!
I come back regularly (around every 6 years)

Very beautiful site with its castle under construction. Impressive!!!
Despite all this titanic work, I still love the village organized around the castle which gives us a lot of information about work carried out according to old techniques (grain mill, tailor on wood, blacksmith, baker, dyes on clothes with natural dyes, making bricks, old-fashioned tiles, stonecutter etc ... It is very informative and very well organized. We stayed there for 5 hours with family and in the company of our children from 4, 6 and 8 years old.

This site is recommended. The visitor gets a clear picture of how people in the Middle Ages went to build castles and settlements. From the extraction of raw materials to the processing of rough boulders to ready-to-use building blocks. Each phase is demonstrated. The site is growing, which makes an annual visit always fascinating.

Top!

It is interesting to see the evolution of each of the trades necessary for the design of this castle. The project is original and deserves to be supported, even if it is well advanced to date and everything seems well oiled. See it once, for the concept.

Temporary change of scenery guaranteed!

Temporary change of scenery guaranteed!
Visit as interesting for adults as for children. The castle is only a small part of the site as it is surrounded by its own medieval village with the huts of blacksmiths, stonemasons, carpenters, carpenters ... who produce the elements necessary for the construction of the castle.
Small negative point: there is no closed space to eat.

I was expecting something exceptional ... At a Dantesque construction site where you can feel the era of the Middle Ages in every place where you walk. Instead I discovered a well-oiled machine where we work in slow motion to maximize the duration of construction and therefore the number of visitors. It seems that we can talk to the craftsmen ... But to see their heads we think above all to go to the next hut. A bit expensive for what to see.

We loved this visit because there is not only the castle (which is beautiful) but all that is necessary for its construction and life at the castle, the mill, the vegetable garden, the dyeing and spinning workshop , the forge .... It's beautiful we have a real impression of traveling in time

1 very beautiful day back in the past of the builders and manual workers great pity that the mill cannot function before our eyes but the quality of the speaker of the place is 1 real pleasure in the organic flour shop of Guedelon on sale

This place is amazing, really fun to visit, I recommend spending at least an afternoon there, because there's a lot to see, and there are a few activities for kids !

You can also volunteer to work there for any duration, the castle has been under construction for a while, and is nearing the end of the construction of the main building, 100% recommend visiting !

Second escapade in the Middle Ages and always as many discoveries: mill, dyeing and painting, menestrel show!
What a pleasure to see an advanced shipyard !! and not least.
Team always so welcoming.

Plan a good day minimum to see everything.
Plan the boots in case of capricious weather.

A great experience! You can see but also hear the noise on a construction site from the Middle Ages. In the village, the smells of wood fires, the gardens, and the houses took me back 10 centuries.

Rich and enriching experience.

Magnificent, surprising, playful, superlatives will be lacking to describe this castle, this construction or rather this great human adventure. Plan the day, take the time to listen to watch and appreciate everything that is on this site. Must do.
