Family visit, the price may seem high but the guided tour is really worth the detour, the guide was very friendly and captivating! . Total immersion in the time of construction of the castle. Quite a job for all these volunteers! !! Well done, as long as the construction continues !!

Arrive early because of the heat and definitely have something to drink with you. Take a look at everything and then join the guided tour. A great place for castle enthusiasts. Take something to eat with you, the food is bad and you wait forever!
To see once if we are interested in this kind of thing, not really activities for children when the explanations are shown on screen, because the employees or volunteers are not always listening, we have not eat there because at the sight of the plates and reports to the prices charged we preferred to leave ... a budget ultimately expensive for not much in the end.
To do absolutely alone or with family. This site is simply the most original, audacious and informative I know. It is a good homecoming and a great way to discover the Middle Ages, other than what we can see in books and in the cinema because this era was much more inventive and "colorful" than we think. To be honest the most interesting is not the castle but all the different workshops all around, the cutler, the cordelier, the workshop dyeing "super" clothes, stonecutters etc ... and of course the mill . Count a whole day. Personally I did not take the guided tour, the people present at the workshops gladly answer the questions but for pity did not ask them questions about the time, the time it takes to do this or that ... in the Middle Ages we finished when we finished, it was not the factory. Weather info: rainy day = mud Summer day = dust Follow me on instagram @thejohnwald
I was very disappointed with this place. Apart from the cordelier who listened to visitors and explained the differences between the ropes, the other representatives of the different trades remained silent. I even asked a question, I had to go over it 3 times to get an answer. But we could see that it was lip service. For my part I will not recommend it.
Wonderful day . The wait is a little long to buy tickets. The castle is splendid, the guided tour explains a lot of things. On the other hand, too much waiting at restore points and prices are quite expensive.
You can get anywhere, unless it is currently being actively built, then a very small area is demarcated. But you can still watch the people very well.
The different workshops are well distributed but not too far apart. The craftsmen are all very friendly and also happy to answer questions.
In addition to the normal bustle on a construction site from the Middle Ages, there are also workshops and leadership. Many things are well adapted to children, so they definitely do not have to be dragged all day long. It will rather be the opposite.
Also for the physical well-being is well taken care of, there are next to the bistro and the restaurant also picnic places and sufficient and clean toilets.
I haven't visited this place yet, but it's on my top priority list as soon as containment is over. I really admire all of these people who embarked on this adventure many years ago, I wish I could have been a part of it, but would I have had the guts?
What a beautiful site and what a great human and technical adventure! The exhaustive visit can be done in a big half-day and in a short day without being at a run. Many workshops are accessible to visitors (stone cutting, rope making, etc.) and many other activities are practiced by professionals in front of visitors. Craftsmen very willingly share their art and respond with pedagogy to the most naive questions. For 3 it is possible to take a guided tour of 1 hour 15 minutes, it is a must! The speaker is passionate and enthralling and answers the many questions that one is sure to have during the visit. Very very good visit, I will go back!
Great day where you can observe the construction of the castle and discuss with all the builders. I also recommend the guided tour without forgetting to eat some specialties ....
Very nice site in the heart of nature and the castle that is progressing well then all these trades of the time very exciting by all these volunteers. Hat .. a small cafeteria is available ... c practice
Superb not to be missed. For stonemason activities, book in advance. There is noon, and even in the day by the way, very long queues for restaurants 45 minutes. If you have booked a workshop beware of the weather!
I found the tour a little basic. It is important to do it but I would have liked to learn more. Attentions visits are done in groups and the number of participants is far too big to be able to enjoy a maximum. We must listen for explanations, too bad ..
Medieval castle under construction for several years, entirely made with medieval techniques. Site to visit! The various trade houses (Miller, stonemason, Basket maker, roofer ...) are also worth visiting.
You had to be crazy to dream of such a project! But the result is there: to share the pleasure of going back in time with us. Bravo to all the craftsmen for their availability and their courage. The children discovered manual trades which were those of their ancestors, not so distant. The organizers are kind and the possibility of picnics in comfortable conditions a real plus. It is a beautiful destination for holidays and the opportunity to discover a region that deserves to be highlighted.
Superb discovery made between friends. The place is very beautiful and the know-how is impressive. The demonstrations and explanations given to the public by the craftsmen are really great.
An incredible place! To do and refire to follow the evolution of this wonderful building! Tour is planned to have a good day. In addition, Dogs on a leash are accepted which is increasingly rare today!
Very nice castle that is being rebuilt as it would have been in the 12th century. Nice for children and adults, you can easily spend half a day there, but you can also see the highlights in an hour and a half (with smaller children, like we have). Recommended!
A place to see and review over time a castle that rises from the ground the craftsmen available and very educational a day out of time who have passed too quickly a lot of points of restoration for all budgets
Fascinating to watch the various masons at work putting together a castle with no technology. Also, very good food and drinks on site at a good value, a great watermill in active use, nice walks, and a lot of workshops.
Will definitely be coming back again in a couple of years to see the progress.
Amazing and fascinating to see how a castle is built. You can discover everything there: blacksmith, basket maker, mill, various handicrafts and much more. Definitely worth the trip.
Nice and interesting place for all ages - the volunteers are passionate who like to explain their art to you - in addition there are lots of things to do around!
Great place to reconstitute. The participants work to build a fortified castle with the same means as in the Middle Ages. You can discover all the necessary trades there. The guided tour is a must. Especially to go there with children.
