Very interesting visit. It is necessary, to appreciate everything, a good day of discoveries. This site appeals to both children and parents. Small workshops for children at the top. I highly recommend Guedelon.

A life-size medieval history course with crafts of the time in action and not only for visitors but also for the construction of this beautiful castle! Every detail is validated scientifically, anachronisms almost non-existent. The children are particularly pampered and attentive to this visit. To not spoil anything, Guedelon is in a very pretty corner of nature. A medieval castle like you've never seen!
A titanic work carried out by these women and men with old methods. The castle is magnificent and the village with the workshops of the various trades is very nice.
Second visit in a few years; and it will not be the last! The construction site is constantly evolving and it is each time a discovery and a leap in time!
Very nice visit of a castle under construction as in the old days accompanied by a formidable guide who knows his subject very well, site not to be missed
Absolute 'must have seen' location! Visited this site with children of 14 and 17 and both were excited. But also as an adult you get lots of information and impressions. Guided tour recommended (available in different languages). You can easily spend a whole day here. Cafeteria is simple but valuable, picknick possible.
For its authentic and non-commercial side! The people who work there are passionate about it and know how to share it, it is a beautiful project which sees its culmination. It is a beautiful lesson in history. To see +++++
An exceptional, unique place, for all ages that we have been following for 20 years ... The castle is magnificent, the explanations on the panels very complete, and the demonstrations of the craftsmen fascinating ... basketry, ironwork, dyeing of fabrics with pigments.minerals, they communicate.know them with enthusiasm.and good.humor..despite the influx..of visitors. Possibility to picnic on site, or to eat. Nice shop at the exit
Old crafts, impressive building, back in the life time. Stone size. Tile. Work of the boix. Ironwork. Lime. Dyeing. Mill. Etc. Recommended with children. In dry weather. Organic catering. Car and motorhome parking.
Everything is very well explained by the workers. We learn a lot about trades allowing the construction of the castles of the Middle Ages. Only downside catering: the quality is there but even going to lunch "late" (1:45 pm) it was 1h tail before reaching the checkout and the choice when arriving was very small. And the prices are also relatively high ( 3.20 for a white cheese, 3.50 for half a drop of fresh organic goat cheese). The best is to bring your own lunch.
Most grandiose project on actuarial archeology ever! A couple of men are building a real knight's castle using only methods from the late 13th century! What was initially thought to be insane has developed into the most successful company in reviewing medieval methods, researching them, communicating them to an audience and still standing on their own two feet. Incomparable, and very enchanting!
Castle to visit absolutely. All trades are represented. Everything is experienced there as in the thirteenth century. Workshops for children, a good idea for school outings.
Awesome. Excellent. 21 years old. Well done. Very nice guided tour. At the mill, on the other hand, the girls told each other their lives and did nothing to be interested in the only visitors who were present. Only 2 of us. Considering the distance it was a bit disappointing
Hello, a work of titan and passionate. A jump, not jumps in the story. The castle certainly, but also the techniques of constructions found. Animations for the little ones.
Super, Formidable, grand, Pleasant, very nice place, very good reception of volunteers. Site to discover absolutely very educational for children and adults or everyone can find something there ... possibility of picnic on site. a place where you think you are in another era ... energizing outing.
Hi people, well here is 22 years that this castle is under construction, but do not worry there is still for at least 10 years. What can I tell you go there 14 euros for adults, possibility of picnic inside or outside. For small budget is nice. Allow about 4 hours to do everything, 5 hours if you take workshop options and guided tours. That's wonderful. Oh if a detail the toilet is a dry toilet ... . If you go to the corner made this exit is really nice, change of scenery, I would say a return to the source. You will be able to ask the craftsmen questions to see them work (yes the construction never stops). You will be able to see animals in freedom, sheep, cocks, geese not to feed. That's fun, enjoy and forget the camera.
I have already been there at the start of construction and it is with pleasure that I returned there in 2016. ... what a change !!! A superb job and a journey through time thanks to this experimental archeology site. You are in the area to see ABSOLUTELY.
Very nice day, the various workshops we have more, especially that of the Cordelier. To flee, the restaurant where the friendliness is not at all at the rendezvous, wait 20 minutes for waffles to warm up to 4 is profit. Too bad because everything was perfect.
There are some who have dreamed of it, they do it and with good mood despite the summer affluence. In addition the restoration is good and not expensive. Super discovery.
Exceptional!! Diving back .. We spend a very long time there. Parking camper at the top. Beautiful discoveries, beautiful encounters .. Great for young and old..
Place to see, the work of artisants is exceptional! Children can participate in different workshops and small shows are organized in the woods. There are animals in freedom. A machine to go back in time ..
A wonderful out of the way place to visit. The TV show had sparked our desire to see the place in the flesh. Our expectations were exceeded! The construction of the castle goes on as the tourists wander around. It is currently about two thirds complete, and there is plenty to see. We loved climbing the spiral staircases and exploring the round tower rooms, the great hall and the kitchen. Watching the human powered cranes in action was a highlight! I have read some reviews that said that the castle was small, but I think that it is a realistic size for a small castle (and we have recently visited Carcassonne!). The surrounding village contains shelters for the various crafts, including woodcutters, carpenters, blacksmiths, quarry, stonemasons, rope makers, paint and dye makers. There are vegetable gardens and animals. On the day we visited there were many bus loads of school children who were obviously enjoying the place as much as we were. We also enjoyed a simple medieval style cooked lunch at the restaurant. There were covered picnic areas for those who had brought their own food.
Wonderful trip to the Middle Ages! Visiting Guedelon is to learn how our ancestors lived and how they worked. The castle is almost finished (forecast 2021) and it is really great to visit. All children should visit this historic site.
The castle is beautiful people who work on the city are passionate artists. They pass on their know-how to volunteers as well as visitors. To see with children so that they can see and understand the construction of a castle.
What more can you say about this place? He is alive. Between the workers who are really warm and the discoveries we can make about the history of the construction of castles in the 3 13th, I highly recommend it! To do with family!
A very interesting experiment; Since 1997 a castle has been built here using medieval techniques, which is already quite finished. There are multilingual guides and even workshops for children. In addition to the castle complex with towers, ramparts and palas you can visit the huts of various craftsmen.
It is a magical place I went with my college and we had a very very very detailed visit the place is really magical artisans answer our questions professionally I would have really wanted to stay even longer otherwise good luck for the end of the works
Nice construction work ..... but sad .... I thought I would see a village with entertainment, like in the Middle Ages !! Suddenly, leaving around 3:30 pm .... demonstration workshops are set up ... a little late for us !!! Frankly apart from the construction of the castle and its visit, I don't want to go back there !!!
I went out of curiosity without being sure that I like it ... and I spent a great day pacing around, watching, asking questions, listening ... Thank you for this work on the duration that grows instead of disappearing
We spent our Sunday mid-afternoon until almost the end a little before 7 p.m. for this wonderful place a discovery for my partner and me a rediscovery for me because I went there about fifteen years ago on castle has grown in size it's impressive, magnificent sites to discover for young and old when you are interested a little in the old techniques of the medieval period, free parking on site souvenir shop on site, you can restore and drink cold drinks and picnic and or sit on tables, you can also admire draft horses which are really very well treated.
Too bad that there is no such thing in Germany, the area is fantastic. Walking around there is like a journey through time, an experience that would probably inspire children to learn about history many times more than history lessons themselves. If it can be set up and my French skills are sufficient I will also work there. Where else can you build something that is made for eternity?
